Easy setup/switchover from Sync Module 1

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the sync module 2 as an upgrade to the original because I wanted to use the local storage feature instead of paying for a cloud subscription to Amazon. Switching from old to new was simple and you won’t need to delete existing cameras then re-add them afterwards. *READ THE FINE PRINT. Local storage option only works with the newer generation cameras. Works great with my indoor mini’s but not with my 6 xt2 cameras. For now, I will need to keep my subscription service until I upgrade them to the newer generation cams. Bonus! If you have the Gen 1 sync module wall adapter the sync module 2 fits in it perfectly and you’ll be able to use the shorter cable that’s not provided with the sync 2. “See pictures.”

I dislike that I can’t dim the lights on the indicator lights but overall it does its job. It stores all of your footage easier, only downfall is that if you have multiple cameras it shows the footage feed in chronological order & can’t be separated by which camera you’re reviewing instead.

As soon as I unplugged this, my wifi was back to normal. The other reason: I bought $65 blink cameras that requires either a $10 monthly subscription or buying this $35 module that requires at least another 15 dollars worth of USB storage. Without these, the blink camera would just allow you to live view and get motion alerts. If you use the sync module, the video review is expectedly slower that cloud based, so just imagine having 20+ recordings you need to check and each recording taking 2-5 seconds to load. While its good that they gave a local storage option, they should have just added an sd card slot on the camera instead of this module.

I am amazed at the zone of coverage for this small camera. I did not buy the upgraded monthly plan, but still does what I need it to do.

Store your recordings onto a USB drive. I haven't had any issues as of yet. The only downside is, You CANNOT view them on the app, you will have to STILL get a monthly subscription which sucks.
