Legendary folks behind this game ensures its going to be a memorable. The soundtrack was awesome and the story is pretty cool too, and theres plenty of weapons and items and side missions to keep you busy. Hard not to mention Castlevania when you talk about a game like this!

Don’t let the title turn you off. If you are a fan of sidescrolling, action and adventure, horror, beat em ups, or 2D Castlevania type games, this fits that bill. Combat is fun and pretty varied. There is a cool power system that has RPG elements and a nice loot system to keep you searching for chests. The only issue I have with this particular version of the game on Nintendo Switch is the performance issues. Those aside, I think this game is fun, addictive, original enough and very much affordable to scratch any Metroidvania itch.

The game is really fun but I would wait for the devs to fix the issues that exist with the frame rate and input lag before you buy.

The devs promised to patch it post launch but this is unacceptable. You can actually play and complete the game, its not 100% broken, but please read the following. This version of the game was clearly not complete. The game is a blurry mess when the switch is more the capable of rendering clearly, i look like a 3DS game in resolution. The ugly muddy mess is just the start of bad news. They messed up on the descaling of the Original textures for the switch so they look blocking chunky and blurry. The next issue is the INPUT LAG, a lot of the game you have 3x more input lag, this means sometimes your combos for some weapons dont go off, or that you jump and miss attacks. It feels like you are playing the game underwater. Sluggish and unresponsive. This needs to be fixed. Next is the constant crashing. On the other versions of the game they had some minor issues they patched the next day. You might crash 3 times in a whole 20 hour play through on the other version. On the switch version you can crash up to 20 times in one play through. That meaasn losing 30 or more min of progress each time if your unlucky. The FPS was locked at 30. Which would be fine if it was stable. The game has dips down to 10 FPS when lots of action is going on on screen. And the resolution in handheld is 720p but in docked its also only 720p but also dynamic so it can be WORSE then playing it in handheld mode. The rumble was also broken, in that the rumble might trigger and never stop until you reset the game. And it revs it up to max so it feels like it might break your joycons. Last there is some issues that the physical cart might run worse then the Digital download version. The Physical cart might run worse because the game was not properly optimized. This game and its 3d effects should be able to run 60fps and 900p on the switch. Many games that push the hardware more look better and run better then this version of the game. Smash brothers, mario Kart, MK11, Wolfenstien, Doom. SKyrim, and many more run way better. Its a software issue on the fault of 505 games and Igas Art play, they did not know how to optimize the game for switch. it may be months before its in a proper state if you buy this version.

The Switch version of this game received plenty of flack upon release due to bad frame rates and graphics compared to the PS4 and Xbox One. I didn’t have a chance to play that version, as I purchased this recently and updated immediately before playing. As for my experience, you can tell it’s a switch version, but that does not diminish the fun when playing the game. It is still challenging and creative with the level design and enemies. They may even update it further down the road.

A great game to play if you like the Castlevania franchise especially Symphony of the Night which this game is created by the same creator. There are some issues with the switch port as for it was developed pretty late in the games development the game doesn't have the superior Graphics like the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One version and also frames drop below 30 and sometimes there can be random crashes. The company has addressed the frame drops and the crashing and are working to fix them.

This game definitely scratches the itch for a new Castlevania. Amazing music and great action only brought down by typical launch bugs and glitches. I suggest you verify if the bugs have been patched prior to purchasing. If you have another console to play this on, dont waste your money on the Switch version. If this is your only way of playing this game, kindly expect input lag and toned down graphics. It is playable though and certainly not at all broken.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is one of my favorite games of 2019. It's an excellent successor to Castlevania and a ton of fun that I adored despite the Switch version's worst efforts. If you're looking to give this game a shot, you're best off playing it on a different platform unless you're willing to overlook it's faults and really want handheld play.

I really enjoy playing this game. It looks really good on the hand held screen as well. A lot off old school homage to the greats of side scrolling. Really good use of mood, color, and story. Absolutely worth the purchase!

So I waited quite a bit of time to buy this game because of all the negative reviews I heard for the Switch port, none of which is Nintendo's fault but the developers of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night for sure. After sometime, I decided to finally bite the bullet and make the purchase and you know what? I don't regret it. After posting the game myself for awhile, I see NOTHING wrong with it so far. THIS is why I refrain from listening too much to a lot of game reviews nowadays. It's not like back in the 90's or early to mid 2000's where you could trust reviewers. In short, try the game or ANY game for yourself. If you have the Switch, GET THIS!!!
