I've played this game on other platforms before and it should be no surprise that the Switch version is the least technically capable. The game itself is superb and a real treat for fans of 2D Castlevania, but the issues with the Switch version prevent me from rating this a full 5 stars. Still though if you keep your expectations within reason, you'll find this sort of throwback game highly enjoyable.

Don't get fooled by old reviews complaining about performance issues, developers have been higly supportive of this release and current patch (1.03) has great performance and they promised a 1.04 patch that will fix even more performance and texture quality issues. I enjoy the game haven't played that much and is overall good looking and fun to play but it is not castlevania just close enough for me.

This is a great Metroidvania game, but this Switch port is sub-par at best. It has been downgraded to 30fps and much lower resolution. There is noticeable input lag and frame drops even with these downgrades. It's a shame because the Switch is the perfect platform for this game. I suggest buying this game for another platform if you can.

If you are a fan of castlevania games then this game is for you, has hours of playtime and it’s full of hidden perks and fun. Yes the game does have drawbacks suck as low frame rates and some input lag

This is a bad port of an otherwise amazing game. The nintendo switch version is obviously poorly optimized for the system. The frame rate often dips below acceptable, sometime during non-demanding sections. For example, you could be facing one enemy in s single room and the frame rate will drop out of nowhere. Other times the game will crash and you will lose all the progress you have made after your last save, which is extremely annoying. I know that this version doesn't look as beautiful as the PS4 or Xbox one version nor does it run at 60 fps but that doesn't really bother me. What does bother me is the fact that the game is so unstable at launch, which is a shame because this is a very fun game when it actually run how it should. I know that these issues will be resolved down the line but now I have to put completing this game on hold until that time. If you have the opportunity, I would recommend buying this game on another platform. If not, then I would highly recommend waiting until these issues are resolved before buying Bloodstained on the switch. Either way, the game itself is great and I would say that it's worth playing somewhere down the line.

I read online since release how Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night was infested with Bugs and lag and so on and so forth on the switch. So I waited for any corrections and although the game plays much better than I saw, I would still say it has a few kinks to work out. Playable and enjoyable but with a PS4 version roaming around it would probably be the best option.

While the switch might not be the best console, I went with this version for portability and so glad I did. The feel is so perfectly retro blended with new age it will appeal to lots of players.

If you love Castlevania, you have to get this. A complete no-brainer. I love the graphics, gameplay, and music. Not as good as a true Castlevania game, but very close.

I really enjoyed this game when I first turned it on. The atmosphere, the world, and the mechanics are all a lot of fun and kept me wanting to come back for more. Unfortunately the game is buggy and crashed about 7 or 8 times during my 30 hour playthrough. A couple of these crashes deleted an hour or so worth of playtime and really ruined my enjoyment of the game. After taking multiple attempts to beat a boss I was constantly nervous that the game would crash before I could get back to a save room and make me go through the boss fight again. Thankfully the game never crashed during or following a boss fight but I was always thinking about it which took away from my enjoyment. The game also has some pretty big frame dips, especially during some late game boss fights. This is annoying but is not game breaking. Overall the game has so much to love and hopefully the next patch will eliminate crashing completely for most players. If it does I would give the Switch version of this game a 4/5. For reference I played version 1.03 to 98.4% completion on standard difficulty.

This is one of the best metroidvania's I've played in awhile. Considering Igarashi himself is behind this, it makes sense. It's not perfect by any means and the Switch version has been plagued by performance issues that have been continued to be ironed with updates. As it stands now, it plays just fine and it's a portable metroidvania, what's not to love?

The game itself is engaging. The switch version has a few issues, but the developers promised to fix over time with patches. Still, this is a great game to have in your library.

As someone who nearly always buys multiplatform games on the Switch, it pains me to say that this game is great . . . on every console but this one. The input lag, frame rate drops, horrendous load times, and game crashes make it clear that this version was released unfinished. The developers did not take the time to optimize this game, which is sad because the Switch should have no trouble running a game like this. Please buy this game. But do so on the PS4 or Xbox One. Otherwise you are not experiencing this game properly.
