Customers are impressed with the Blueair Classic 605's ability to improve air quality and its ease of use. Many appreciate the filter's long lifespan and the multiple fan speeds, although some find the highest fan speed noisy and the unit large. The app functionality is a point of contention, with some users experiencing difficulties. Overall, the purifier's positive impact on air quality is a significant selling point.

The Blueair 605 Classic is a large air purifier with a standard/classic design. Many air purifiers on the market have moved toward more modern and sculpted designs, the 605 classic is sort of monolithic in its shape - flat on 3 sides where the filters reside, with the two largest sides being white curved plastic sandwiching the filter elements.
The Blueair 605 arrived well packed and was easy to remove from its box despite the 42 lb total shipping weight. All of the filters were pre-loaded and set up was super easy. At first I was nervous because the manual looks quite thick, but it turns out it has several languages in the one book. I plugged the unit in, and followed the few steps in the included manual to get the device synced with the Blueair app on my Android phone. While it's made clear in the manual as well as the app, make sure you use a 2.4 ghz wifi network for setup. I still use separate SSIDs so this was simple for me.
Along with basic controls and advanced scheduling, using the app allows you to turn on childproofing where the controls on the actual unit will not respond. The app also allows you to pair one of Blueair's wifi air quality sensors to give you more advanced control over when the air purifier will run and at what temperature.
In operation I found the Blueair to be exactly what I had hoped for. The best part about such a large unit is that it still has high airflow on the lower settings, enabling it to get great results with less noise. The unit is so large that finding a place for it could prove difficult for many - for me, it has found a home in an underused corner of our living area. With the medium setting I'm getting about 1.25 air changes/filtrations per hour for my open living and dining space. The medium setting is no louder than a fairly quiet gaming computer. Low is completely inaudible, and high is VERY loud (as loud as a window air conditioner). I am still experimenting with the scheduling capability of the app but my intention is to run the unit on high before we get home or when we are asleep to maximize the filtered air without being too annoying when we're actually using the room.
It's only been installed for about 5 days but it has already made a big difference in the amount of dust flying around our house. Once the filters are eventually used up (about 6 months life according to the manufacturer) I will swap for their Dual Protection filters which add carbon to absorb odors and VOCs. The cost for the filters is pretty high, but I expect this to also extend the life of the filters I put on my HVAC system, which currently get changed every 45-60 days, so perhaps the costs will be a little equaled out. Overall this is a really great product if you have a space for it.

In todays world, the better the air you have the better quality of life you will enjoy it seems. Well this amazing device from Blue Air really lives up to its claims! I was able to get it set-up in about 5 minutes, its does come in a large box. It was able to handle 7 rooms with ease. It wasn’t very loud or noticeable as it was tucked away behind the desk.
I actually felt better about my living space being cleaned and purified with everything going on in the world and having so much stuff in the air. I was able to easily hook up to the Wi-Fi and use my phone to monitor everything which I felt was really cool! Having visuals really helped me see what it was doing and felt it was impacting the home. After about 3 days I could tell a difference in the air in my home, almost like it was spring in my home feeling fresh and pure!

I've been using this unit now for around four days. It came very well packed. Once out of the box, and having gone over the basic instructions, it was a simple matter of just plugging it in, opening the cover to see the control panel, and turning the unit on. This unit is wifi capable, and one goes into the Apple App Store and downloads the app for this unit (per instructions). I could not find the App: Blue Air Friend, but did download the only App for Blue Air. Setting up the App is easy, and I was controlling the unit via my iPhone in no time (turning unit on/off and speed only ... no other offerings). This App was bothering me, since I THOUGHT I could also get Air Quality in the Room in which the unit is located. Not so! Seems there is yet another small piece of equipment known as BLUE AIR AWARE, which sits independently from the unit and does the actual measurements in the room, then transmits back via wifi. That unit, per my own searching, cannot be found for sale. As far as the main unit itself, it has three separate filters, which are supposed to filter all sorts of things from the air. Unfortunately, with the lack of being able to get Room readings, one has to just TRUST this is happening. I, personally, can notice no difference in the air of that room. The unit is running, and have to assume it's doing what it's made for. The only way to SEE that is the filters at the end of their intended six month lives, where debris will surely be found. I can understand this, since I have a large HEPA filter in my HVAC, which also has a functional life of six months, and does show the results of what it has accomplished in removing junk from the air we breathe. Thus, in the end, is this Blue Air Handler worth it? Well .... I gave it Four Stars, but the lack of a fifth is based upon the lack of Room Air Quality Monitoring. It will be interesting to see what the filters look like as time goes on. The filters, btw, must be renewed/replaced every six months, and the App on the phone monitors that and will let you know when it's time to renew. I want to give an HONEST review here, and wrangled a bit with the box below, RECOMMENDING TO A FRIEND just because of the lack of Room Quality capability, but the unit is impressive and I will put my faith in it doing what the literature says it will do. :-)

This is a monster of a machine, literally. Its bigger than one of those bulkier PC cases. But the great thing is that its easy to move around with the wheels attached, so you will not need to lug it around, if/when moving it around your place.
On the lowest setting it is super quiet, and you hardly even notice that its on. It does come with a 3 speed setting, which can be controlled via the app or even directly from the filter (thank God they haven't gone all virtual on us). On the highest setting it sounds like your bathroom exhaust would. We've only ever used it when cooking something that will create lots of smoke, and this has done a great job. Previously we would have to open windows or even throw fans on the window, to blow the air out.
The app itself is super simple to setup and shows you the basic functions like setting the speed , turning it off. You can also control the brightness of the LED. And they've also added the support to add schedules - which is super handy.
Even though this model, does not come with a sensor that will find out the room's air quality real time - the app does show you the local outdoor air quality. You can also purchase a separate Blueair Aware - air quality monitor and connect it to your existing filter via the app.
The only gripe I have with this is that it is not great at eliminating odor. We have noticed that whenever we leave the room locked for days and then open it up, even if the filter is turned out throughout he period, the room still has that stale air smell.
But that being the only con we have witnessed, this is definitely a good buy, as long as you have the right place to tuck it in your room, given its size.

This air purifier is great inside and out! It arrived in a huge box and it weighs a lot. But Blue Air created not only a great product but great packaging too. The box opens from the side, not the top. then you slide out the inner box from the shipping box. Open that box from the side as well then slide out the product using the handle. No heavy lifting! You can tip the unit to get it off the packing foam and wheel the unit where you want. The wheels are pre-instsalled and so are the included filters! It works right out of the box. Plug it up, download the app on your phone, set up wifi and you're done. I really like the fact that the LED on the front can be turned off using the app. I've only had this unit for a few days but so far I really like it. The air is much cleaner and my allergies are a lot less. There are three fan speeds and they're all great. The level one is completely quiet. I didn't even realize it was on. The level two is louder of course but still very even and not bothersome at all. I have not tried level three.

love this air purifier. At least for were i live at. I live in a 3 bedroom apartment so this works well for us.
My reason for a 4 star though. Setting 1 is quiet, 2 is pretty quiet but can hear it a little. But setting 3 is pretty loud. Also took a bit to get it to connect with my phone and once connected, once in a while i will have it go to setting 1, then when I select to change to setting 2 or 3, my phone says its on that but the unit does not change. I have to turn it to off then it works. other then that. works great.
its big, but its also on wheels so its very easy to move. we have carpet and easy to move around. love that you can connect it to your phone and use that.
overall pretty satisfied with it.

Hassle-free purifier for clean, healthy air

Blueair brings to your home clean air with the Classic 605 air purifier. It uses advanced HEPA technology in combination with Wi-Fi connectivity to ensure you are healthy and up-to-date with your indoor air quality.
Plug in the unit and you're ready to go. The touch controls are hidden behind a panel on the top of the machine, and they are simple and responsive, with a bright blue display for fan speed, power, Wi-Fi connection, and filter. The unit has wheels and rolls easily to the monitored area, though I did have some issues with the removable side panels slipping off easily during transport. The purifier is a massive machine that may be a little intimidating at first, but with its size comes the ability to handle rooms up to 775 square feet. My open concept kitchen, dining room, and living room were all able to utilize the Blueair Classic. Its HEPASilent technology is proven to keep the air quality clean in all areas by electrically charging the airborne particles, capturing them in the filter, and discharging clean air periodically. The lowest fan speed setting was used the most, as it is nearly inaudible and proved to be very effective. The medium speed makes a little noise but is still serviceably quiet. The highest setting is loud as expected, but we don't expect to use it at this level much.
Using the Blueair mobile app, I'm able to see firsthand the purity levels in my house and any pollutants it senses along with periodic changes in the air quality. You can change the fan speed or power the system down from the app as well. You can even set up Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant for voice activation. Lastly, you will be notified when the filter needs to be replaced, and the app allows for easy orders through the Blueair Store. While some of the app's features seemed a little bit lacking - the Settings simply toggles between Fahrenheit and Celsius - overall, it does a good job of allowing easy access to the air quality information.
The Blueair Classic 605 is a big machine that gives huge relief for those looking to keep the air pure in fairly large areas of your home. With simple touch controls, an easy-to-use app, and the latest in HEPASilent technology, this hassle-free air purifier is sure to keep your home healthy for years to come.
Full disclosure, I received this product for my honest, unbiased review.

Overall this is a very nice system. Have had it professionally measured but seem to do the job. The threee sped fan is a great option and the system on high can me quite load. Most of the time I have it on 1 or 2. The app is very informative and work well. There is a bit of a lag between change to fan speed and it actually change so you might change it two at a time if you not careful. The only real drawback I had with the system is it connection to WiFi. That did not play well and took sometime to get it working. If it doesn’t auto connect it can be a bit of a pain

Blueair have a long and well-deserved reputation for excellent air filters and this slightly updated version of their 600 series builds on a proven design with some basic smart home control elements.
At it's core, this is a highly efficient HEPA air cleaner which is easily able to handle larger indoor areas, including modern open plan living room / kitchen areas. The unit uses three filter cartridges and an extremely high quality fan to move a lot of air with very little noise. I can speak to the quality because we've had an older 500 series (same chassis design but no smart controls) for over 8 years and it has run perfectly without any increase in fan noise.
The new smart control features are limited but useful. After connecting to wifi and pairing with the app (I've tried with Android 10 and 11), you can control fan speed, see overall outdoor air quality (no internal sensors on this unit), and dim the blue LED lighting on the side. These features can also be programmed to run on a series of flexible schedules and this allows me to run the fan on high late at night when nobody is up to hear it and automatically turn it to a lower setting during the day. Convenient.
Pros:
- Highly efficient design can cover a large area.
- Good quality construction, components (especially fan), and filters.
- Virtually silent on all but the highest fan speed.
- Smart scheduling and remote app control.
- My experience with the brand suggests excellent long term reliability.
Cons:
- The unit is quite large, so take careful note of the measurements vs. your intended location.
- This version has no internal sensors to show indoor air quality.
- Replacement filters are about $80 / set (you can get a discount if you subscribe via Amazon or Blueair's own web site). They last about six months in my experience.
If you're looking for a reliable, well built, effective, and quiet air filter and don't need high end air quality sensors, this is a first rate choice that should serve you very well for many years to come.

This device is massive!! I suppose maybe it takes a device of great size to properly move enough air to clean multiple rooms worth of air, but the size makes it a real problem finding a place to put it without it looking like a giant white eyesore.
there's a blueair app you can download to control the device. but its pretty basic. you can put it on a schedule and that's about it. it shows you the outdoor air quality which is about useless. in order to get indoor air quality or automation in the device you have to purchase an addon device that is not cheap. and this particular model doesn't work with google home, but it does with amazon alexa.
it's one major saving grace is that it is whisper quiet on level 1 (to the point that you can barely tell it's running). there are 3 total levels. level 3 sounds like a jet engine, level 2 is reasonable, but still enough of a noise that you wouldn't want it in your tv rooom, and level 1 makes no sound at all.
i can't really tell if it's having much of an effect. my spouse has asthma and breathing issues all the time. she's not mentioned any noticeable difference in the couple weeks we've had it. and i've not noticed any trapped particles or dust in the filters. i've been running it on level 3 from 2a-5a everyday, and then on level 1 all day long the rest of the day.
this company makes far smaller units with newer features like google home support, and that come with a more aesthetically pleasing look. i would probably consider one of those prior to getting one of these. as far as efficacy goes...i can't really speak to it at this time. i'm seeing no evidence that it is helping with dust and allergy symptoms.

I suffer from allergies and in need of keeping my home dust free as possible. I decided on the blueair when a good friend recommended them because they have an older model but sang praise's about it. I love the wifi app which allows you to program noise level and turn the unit on and off. Has moisture alerts and filter status. I cant believe how mush air this unit moves and cleans. I have a cat an notices less hair and dander. Anyone with pets know what i'm speaking of. I haver used this for over 2 weeks and notice my sinus issues that I would normally be suffering from are not nearly as severe. And I plan to get another one for my master bedroom also.
Noise level when watching tv you cant even hear it and you can adjust to be even more silent.
WIFI setup was a bit tricky at first. But once connected it is rock solid. And full disclosure the setup problem was my user error.

It just so happens I had a new bicycle that I had brought into my home. I didn't realize how that new bike smell (rubber from tires) would permeate the room. I turned on the Blueair Air Purifier and approximately 4 to 5 hours the smell was gone! If it can "clean" the smell of a room, you know its got to be cleaning the air!
The size of the unit is 20" wide, 12" deep and 25" tall. It has one "button" that turns the unit on and adjusts the fan speed. The fan has three speeds. The first and second speeds are pretty quiet. The third speed (high) is pretty loud. I run the unit on that speed when I leave the room. When I come back into the room I turn it down to the first or second speed. Easy to open and change filters. Big plus!
It has a sleek, clean look. It's easy to use and change the filter. And most importantly, It Works!!

Rated to filter a 775 square foot area, the Blueair Classic 605 came beautifully packaged and easy to setup and operate - just plug and play! The unit does a great job filtering the air around it and I could tell the difference in just a few days of use. The unit comes equipped with 4 casters making it easy to move around the house where needed. There are 3 fan speeds; low, medium and high.
A smartphone app is available allowing control of the unit from a remote location. The app also allows you to set up a daily/weekly/monthly run program and provides you with the status of the filters and air quality.
The Blueair Classic 605 is a well built quality air purifier that should provide years of service with occassional filter replacements.

The Blueair Classic 605 is a highly regarded air purifier for good reason. This thing works.
Right out of the box, this thing was an absolute unit. Just reading the numbers 26"X19.7"X13.4" does not do it justice. Weighing in at 31 lbs, it is a solid and sturdy device. The build quality is excellent with a full steel body. It is also aesthetically pleasing. It reeks of quality. Despite being so heavy, moving it around is easy with the built-in casters (wheels). I am very impressed with the engineering of this device.
It is designed to take in air from 3 sides: the two sides and from the top. There are three filters which are identical (one on each side) for this purpose. These are HEPA filter with high efficiency. Getting into numbers, they can capture 0.1 micron air pollutants. This gives alot of credibility into their capturing "99.97% of airborne pollutants." They recommend filter replacements every 6 months. Your mileage may vary based on how much, how often, how hard you use the purifier.
This purifier covers alot of space at 775 square feet. For the average person in an average home, this is PLENTY for any room in the house. Air Changes per Hour (ACH) and Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) are important numbers when considering purifiers. Without getting into the nitty gritty, the Blueair Classic 605 has massive numbers and can easily handle large rooms.
This device has 3 speed settings. At the lowest speed, it is virtually silent. The medium speed produces a fan-level noise. It is nowhere near loud and is pleasant white sound. The highest fan noise is quite loud and not something I would want running when I am working or trying to sleep.
Setup with the app was quite easy. People seem to have a lot of problems with it. I personally did not have much trouble. It basically turns your phone into a remote to control fan speed. It also gives updates real time on outdoor air quality if that is something that you want. I personally did not see much of a need for the app. The only thing that can be done in the app and not manually is turning the LED light off. My only qualm about the app is that I see no need in connecting to Wifi or requiring location data. I am skeptical since tech companies make so much money scalping and selling personal data. I think just being able to connect via bluetooth and controlling it that way was possible. It is not a smart filter that detects air quality in the home either. You need a separate air quality monitor for that so I think the app is overkill if you are just running the purifier.
All in all, this thing is an absolute beast. I have asthma and allergies. My flare-ups have decreased immensely with the purifier running. I am actually looking forward to pollen season because I am curious see how it holds up (and how bad my allergies get). I recommend this to anyone who needs a high-end air purifier. When it goes on sale, it is an absolute bargain.
Pros:
Absolute unit
Stellar build quality and engineering
Beautiful design
Built-in casters (wheels) make it very portable
Great coverage means you can use in any room in the house
HEPA filters capture all but ultrafine particulates
Quiet fan noise at lowest and medium speed
Remote control with app
Cons:
Not really much but app is slightly overkill
Things to consider:
High cost but goes on sale
Replacing filters can be annoying cost of maintenance (for all air purifiers)

Great Air Purifier

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I've always had several air purifiers running in my home, and this is the nicest one so far. The Blueair Classic 605 is a big purifier. It measures about 26" tall x 20" wide x 13.5" deep and will work in areas up to 775 square feet. It sits on 4 nice wheels and should be placed at least 4 inches away from other objects or walls.
The control panel has a flip-up door located over it, to keep people from accidentally changing the settings. It also has indicators for filter change and Wi-Fi connection. Why would you want Wi-Fi? Simply download the Blueair app for your Android or Apple smartphone and you have the ability to monitor the unit as well as establish schedules for when and how it operates. During the day, I typically run the fan at the "1" speed. In a very quiet room, you will hardly be able to tell that it is even turned on. Around supper time, I automatically have it bump up to speed "2" to keep the cooking smells down. In the evening, It changes back to "1" and I run it at "3" for a few hours at night whiie everyone is sleeping. l find it pretty loud a "3" and only use that setting when nobody is going to hear it. The app also allows you to control the brightness of the external LED on the unit. I have that brighter at night, so nobody runs into it.
The unit has 3 air filters that need to be changed about every 6 months. There is a filter replacement light on the control panel and I have to assume the app will also tell me when it is time to change the filters.
I find the unit does a great job of filtering the air, getting rid of dust, and eliminating odors. While it is a bit on the pricey side, I still think it is worth the price and I recommend it for someone that needs to purify a large area.

Tricky to Set Up

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Part of the appeal of this unit is the "smart home" aspect- the ability to set the timer and control it from my phone, but the app uses a 2.4 ghz Wifi connection in order to set up the device. Most routers are dual band, but my phone ( and most new phones) won't allow you to select which band you're on. My phone defaults to 5 ghz, so there was no way to set up the wifi connection on the filter. I ended up pulling out an old tablet, downloading the app, and setting it up from there. Once I got the air filter set up, it worked fine. I keep it on the first setting and have it programmed to run at the highest setting over night. The highest setting is very loud, so it's definitely not something I would want running while I was having family time or trying to watch TV. I've noticed a decrease in dust, so it's working, but until they can update the software to work with modern routers and phones, I can't recommend it.

Good Air Purifier

The Blueair Air Purifier worked like a charm. It was easy to set up and we did not sleep congested within two to three days of use. My asthma attacks went down significantly. I'm talking about a whole room and it does it fast.
The touch buttons for the functions are hidden on top of the Air Purifier underneath one of the corner lids. Connecting to the wi-fi was easy because the app basically walks you through it all.
Now to the only downside I saw. The unit seems to always disconnect from multiple modems which run the 2.4 GHz bandwidth (Necessary to be on 2.4). Being a tech by trade I found this alarming seeing as the unit doesn't come with a remote (not that you need one). I always try to be transparent with any and everything that I review. If I were to recommend this to someone, I'd make sure they're just comfortable with the Air Purifying feature because in reality you can't control a lot of features with the app so it wasn't the biggest downfall, just an inconvenience.
