The Blueair DustMagnet 5410i is an air purifier designed to handle medium sized rooms and living spaces up to 380 sqft. The DustMagnet is an internet connected device that allows remote monitoring and control via its app. I’ve had it running in my house for several days and have spent a decent amount of time playing with the app and looking at the data it reports. Design First off, the design of the DustMagnet 5410i immediately reminds me of IKEA and a lot of its modern designs. I happen to love this design aesthetic, which fits nicely with the furniture I already have. Basic dimensions are 11.5 x 11.5 x 25.5”. It’s made of a matte finished white plastic that feels nice to the touch. The DustMagnet sits atop 4 legs that thread into the bottom of the unit – this is the only assembly step other than preparing the filters. The filters are accessible from the rear at the top and bottom. They have pullout prefilter trays and aren’t difficult at all to service. The expected filter life ranges from 6-12 months depending on the air quality inside of your home. At the time of this review Blueair has not released the replacement filters (DustMagnet ComboFilter 5400), and I’m not able to signup for the filter subscription service. Also, on the rear of the unit is another small hatch which hides the air quality sensor. The main body features a tray on the top that is meant to be used as a little end table. This tray serves 2 purposes. It makes the air purifier a functional piece of furniture, and it prevents you from laying anything on top of the air inlet. The air is expelled from vents on either side – left side vent is 12” from the floor and the right side vent is 17”. I’m not sure why they are offset like this, but it could be part of maintaining a proper airflow pattern inside the main body. The front face of the unit has a single LED light at the top. This light indicates indoor air quality. White – no data, blue – excellent, green – good, yellow – moderate, orange – slightly polluted, and red – very polluted. My light has been consistently blue with the exception of a brief amount of time where my PM2.5 (Particulate Measurement for particles 2.5 micrometers or less) in the app reached 13 which was labeled as “Good.” This actually coincided with me doing some vacuuming and dusting, so that’s kind of neat. My PM 2.5 typically hovers around 0-1 which is in the “Excellent” range. Along the rim of the air inlet surface are the buttons and other indicators. Power, Wi-Fi, filter life, fan speed, and night mode settings can all be checked or modified here (you need to use the app to mess with the Wi-Fi settings). The fan speed is variable, and from this point you change the speed for 1-3, or auto. There is also a night mode, which dims the LED’s and switches the fan into a low speed. App The app for the DustMagnet is actually very useful and responsive. I’m using an LG V40 running Android 10. I can control the unit easily whether I’m on the same Wi-Fi network or I’m running on mobile data. The app allows for scheduling of the unit. You can define times for the machine to run in night mode, or if you want the fan speed set at a certain level during certain times/days. The app also has a more granular control of the fan speed. The app has 10 steps between each fan speed (1.1, 1.2, 1.3, etc.). The app can control the LED brightness independent of Night mode, and even has child lock for the on-device buttons. The app also shows a local air quality map (powered by Breezometer) to show your outdoor air quality. This can help inform you of days you might want to avoid opening the windows. All of these seems to work quite well. There are 2 things in the app that don’t work well. First, is the subscription tab. Since these units haven’t hit full release that could be added later. The second part is integration with my Google devices. The Blueair app is not compatible with google home, but it is supposed to work with Google Assistant. I really don’t care for the interface that comes with items that only link through assistant. In this case I couldn’t get it to reliably work. Using my Google Home Mini’s only correctly understood my request to “Talk to Blueair” a few times. It worked better going through my phone and had a higher success rate. Unfortunately it didn’t understand commands all that well. Try to set it to night mode instead took the fan off auto and set the fan speed to 1. Night mode was not enabled. Trying to set the fan speed to 3 yielded the result of the fan speed being set to 2. So for now I’m going to skip using the Assistant to control it – I would love to see it in the Google Home app though. Care and Maintenance Maintenance of the DustMagnet is pretty straightforward. There is a filter indicator light on the unit located next to the Wi-Fi icon – the app also displays a filter life percentage. When the filter life is exhausted the light on the unit will turn on indicating its time to swap the filter. Again the filter life is 6-12 months. There are 2 filters to swap out, so make sure you are buying 2 at a time if you decide against the subscription program. In between these filter changes you are supposed to clean the prefilters regularly. The manual suggests a weekly cleanout, which looks similar to cleaning your dryer vent screen. Other maintenance includes cleaning the air quality sensor periodically with a cotton swap – manual says to do this at the same time as you change the filter. The last bit of maintenance is vacuuming the air inlet grill and inside the purifier (I’d assume you would have to remove the filter trays for this) with a soft brush attachment. Caring for the unit is simple. The manual gives a couple of guidelines regarding moving the unit or doing any service. You are supposed to unplug the unit before doing any cleaning or relocating. You are also supposed to pick up the unit, not drag it. Performance I haven’t had the unit running for very long yet, so I can’t really speak to any long term performance. However, I can speak to some of my observations. I have seen a noticeable drop of “floaties” in the air in my living room and kitchen. Since I just dusted I have some time to watch for accumulation on surfaces. The recommended max room size is 380 sqft – my space of operation is right at 360. The marketing list 12 air changes per hour in a room this size. I would assume that you would need the fan running at max speed to achieve this. At low speed I can’t imagine enough CFM is moving to hit the air change rate. On the flip side if your air is good then you don’t need to cycle as many air exchanges. The sound rating for the unit ranges from 31-50db. At low speed it isn’t even audible from 3 feet away. At max speed I can hear it from another room – its about as loud as a little desk fan on high. Overall The Blueair DustMagnet 5410i is a well-made and nicely designed piece of equipment. Connected devices like these are often let down by poor app design or operability, but that is not the case here. So far it has lived up to its claims for operation and performance. I look forward to seeing how it performs in the long term.

I have a few air purifiers at my house from very basic ones that you just turn on and they run at three speed that I manually choose to a very sophisticated air quality sensor model that adjust to the quality of the air. I have really come to appreciate the comfort and the tech in these devices that really make for a better living environment. Think about the dust on your ceiling fans or counters…Don’t fool yourself…That’s goes into your lungs the whole time you are at your house! CLEAN THE AIR! That’s why I was excited to get my hands on the DustMagnet 5410i. Set up is super easy. Pull the unit out of the box, put the legs on and download the app (be sure to remove the plastic covering on the two filters). They have a quick start guide that makes it easy. It all connects wifi and the app is amazing. So easy and straight forward. The app has the color code of the air quality and plots it on a graph! This is really nice because if you see spikes you can correlate it to a cause and mitigate it. I attached a screen shot of when I was grilling some steaks on my back deck and was coming in and out of the door and the DustMagnet was in auto mode and cleaned up the small amounts of smoke that would follow me in and out of the house! Super cool. If you ever wonder if your air purifier is actually working and was worth the money… wonder no more with the DustMagnet. You can see it working in real time!!! And it really cleaned the air up quickly! The air quality is also displayed on an indicator light on the unit itself! Super intuitive. This unit can do a room about the size of 20’x18’! And recycles the whole room in 12 minutes!!! Awesome! I really love the tech that is so good at what it does and is so smart that it disappears into my home and makes for a better living environment! I also like that the DUSTMagnet calculates the life of the filters. To maximize that be sure to clean the pre-filters weekly (that’s what they recommend) Monthly is probably ok once you scrub the air good. I also like that you can connect to Alexa of google but I decided not to…It’s smart enough on it’s own. There is a night mode as well that puts it into quiet mode and turns of the LED so maybe you could tell Alexa or google to do that for you or put it on your nighttime routine with them. The unit is vert quietly even without “quiet mode on”. I would have liked a UVC component to the unit but on Blueair’s website they say that the “classic” filter which they use in the 500 series units, “ when the Blueair Classic family was tested by accredited CAS Test Technical Services, it removed 99.99% of H1N1 influenza, as well as more than 99.9% of Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Aspergillus Niger.* *Removal rate in 60 minutes according to GB18801-2015.” https://www.blueair.com/us/cold-and-flu.html So it looks like they have the virus thing locked up as well! Overall I’m not a huge fan of the aesthetics of the unit. They say it looks like a small end table…I guess. But with the legs and table top it really lends itself to airflow. It looks like a little droid or something…but man this unit really gets it done!! Super smart and does what it needs to do quietly, efficiently and verifiable! Perfect! Highly recommend!

Filtered the air in our home

Our family has been using several air purifiers to help clean up the air quality in our home. We all suffer from allergies, with my son having the worst amongst us. Our allergies are always on the forefront to what we decide to purchase in regards to furniture, clothing, and even our dog. We needed a dog that doesn't shed as much and is low dander. It didn't help that we have carpet in our entire upstairs which allows dust to accumulate all over. We were glad to come across the Blueair DustMagnet 5410i to try, and after a few weeks of usage there is a noticeable difference in our home. The Blueair company claims that the DustMagnet 5410i completely filters the air in a 380 ft room every 12 minutes. Our entire upstairs includes 2 bedrooms and an open air loft with vaulted ceilings, again, all are carpeted and is about 400 sq feet. Our shelves, desks, computer, etc, are covered in a cake of dust and required cleaning every week. For the past couple of weeks we have noticed less dust particles as the DustMagnet has been collecting the dust before it touches down on the surfaces. On initial inspection, we noticed how small the DustMagnet is. It fit perfectly a top a small table and were amazed at how light it was. Plugging it in, downloading the app, connecting to our WiFi was a breeze and there was an immediate difference in the air quality of our home. Our son was not sneezing or sniffling as much which was a huge relief. When looking at the DustMagnet, your attention goes the the single LED light in the top middle. This indicator has 5 different colors and indicates the air quality in the room: Blue (excellent), Green (Good), Yellow (Moderate), Orange (Polluted), and Red (Very Polluted). Near the top and to the right of the LED are the Power, WiFi, Filter, and Fan Speed. The very top of the DustMagnet can be used as a table top with the intention it can be dual purposed device/furniture in your room. Below the table top is the Air Intake which allows the air flow to enter into teh device. To the left side of the device is the fan which directs air into the room. On the other side are the two air filters that are replacted based on the speed and usage. As a Smart Device, you connect your device to the Blueair App where you can monitor the air quality, filter lifetime, and speed control. I enjoyed enabling Auto mode which allows the DustMagnet to auto-increase the speed of the fan when it notices certain pollution levels and then decreases the speed when the pollution is down. Connecting it to Alexa is an option but I have not yet done that. Looking at the Blueair app, I am able to monitor my filters in order to be ahead and order replacement filters. As of 2 weeks straight, I am glad to report that my Filter Status is still 99%. What's great with the app is that I am able to see the air quality outside our house, which I can corroborate with other apps on my iPhone. The only negative mark I have on the DustMagnet is that the fan only faces one direction and does not have any rotation option. So, we have to angle it proprerly in the room. Overall, we are very pleased with the DustMagnet 5410i. It has made our lives better and has tremendously improved the air quality in our home.

Aesthetically beautiful-an attraction to living ro

Overall It is a beautifully designed air filtration system, much nicer than my older (different brand) unit. For one, it's a nice conversation piece of furniture around the living room and doubles as an end table for anyone sitting by it. It has a smaller footprint than a coffee table at 11 ⅜” x 11 ⅜” with its only exception of its height at 25 ¾”. It pairs nicely with the blueair app and offers plenty of options to customize operation of the filter from schedules, maintenance reminders, location (for air quality info), and basic operation. All the good aside, there’s something odd I’ve noticed from the app. After a week of operation I’ve begun to notice that the air quality (aqi) graph is stagnant day after day. I highly doubt the aqi in my particular area (1hr from Los Angeles) is this clean each and every day. Within the first few days of ownership and setup, the graph was all over the place ranging from very low yellow with a dash of green down to blue. It was literally a rollercoaster day after day, much like the stock market is today. Now it hovers over 29 aqi and hasn't changed from there for several days. For what it's worth, this might be speculation created from my short term of ownership. Performance I'm not the type to be troubled day in and day out by dust, pollen, or any airborne particles to use as a basis for my review. Nor is my house filled with many airborne particles, at least as far as my respiratory senses can tell. That said, without much in terms of filters throughout the house, except for a personal bedroom unit and the filtration the HVAC provides, there is bound to be some particles looming in the air. With small pets and carpeted floors dust, pathogens, smoke, and spore particles should be present. Initially I ended up placing the Blueair in the dining room by the window. One morning, after leaving it in automatic, I managed to witness it spinning up at its most powerful setting with a red indicator on the front signaling a high level of dirt in the air. It seemed odd and I ultimately thought that it was due to having the space closed from the outside over night. It eventually came down to yellow, green then blue after a few minutes. Thinking it might have been a fluke, I relocated it over to the carpeted living room where I would occasionally witness it spin up and down. Unsure if it was properly doing what it was supposed to, I turned it off and removed the filters. To my surprise they were dark and dirty. The mesh filter for solid particles had both hair and fragments from insulation that's used to cover up windows when the sun is directly facing them. The HEPA filter was full of other dirt particles that when I took it outdoors to dust it created a decently sized cloud of dust. Even with all that I wasn’t entirely convinced so before writing up this review I relocated it to the front door and let the wind carry anything it would bring across the hall to the back door. It wasn’t long before it began to spin up. With the wind blowing through and the rays from the sun shining in I could clearly see particles dancing through the air. Eventually witnessing some of those particles being sucked up by the filter. I was impressed by this moment, but to add more in my awe further along in the day, before returning the filter to its last semi-permanent location, and after someone began cooking it ended up setting off the Nest smoke detector. Within 2 minutes of Nest complaining about smoke in the hallway, the Blueair began to spin up and quickly cleaned up the air, since Nest quieted down and returned to standby. It’s certainly a welcome addition to the house as it has plenty of power to move a decent amount of air without generating a large amount of noise. Heck, I’d be willing to bet that this machine at its highest level is more quiet than my gaming PC under a full load. Conclusion I wasn’t convinced about the product within the first week. For years, I’ve used the more ugly but functional square fans with a HEPA HVAC filter added on top. That fully works as intended however generates loud sound. Good for non guest spaces, not so good in a bedroom if noise is a problem. Works 100% however! The Blueair is better suited for guest areas where it will be seen as opposed to the aforementioned abomination of a contraption. Design 9/10 Construction 10/10 Hardware 8/10 Features 10/10 Verdict 9/10

One step closer to being dust free

If you have an issue with dust in your house, then you should check out the Blue Air DustMagnet line of filters. My current house does not have a terrible problem with dust, but it does have some. After a week I would usually have a small amount of dust that would build up on my TV cabinet, but after using this for a week, I have seen a lesser amount of dust building up. My previous house had a much larger issue with dust, and it would build up daily and this would have come in handy for sure. Setting up the DustMagnet was quite simple, just removing the plastic wrap around the two filters and screwing on the four stands that keep the unit about 6 inches off the ground. There is a quick start guide that will walk you thru the steps of setting up an account and attaching the DustMagnet to your Wi-Fi network. I have a Wi-Fi 6 network and it was able to connect to it, although it did seem that the app was sticking at 46% set up and then at 60% set up, so I walked away for a little while and it managed to complete. The Blueair app is simple to use and is laid out well. You are given the outdoor AQI (air quality index) for your location and towards the bottom you can see how your indoor air compares. So far mine has always said “Excellent” but my AQI is around 27 which is excellent as well. Every year it seems we do have more forest fires and our AQI goes up and this will be interesting to see how it handles that. The app will also allow you to control the DustMagnets fan speed or set it to Auto or night mode. It also gives you the current life of the filters so you will know when to replace them. I have not investigated how much those filters cost so just be prepared to replace them in 6 months to a year, depending on how much cleaning it must do for your air. The all-white minimalist design fits well in a modern or a classical home. My favorite part is it is designed to be used as a tray of sorts on top. I have mine positioned in our living room next to my recliner and I can now place a cup, remote control or other thing that I want to have handy next to me. It runs quietly on the lowest setting and you hardly know it is even on. I really look forward to this helping me with my allergies this spring since dust and pollen really make my nose go crazy and this should help me with that. If you suffer from allergies from dust and pollen or if you are just looking to clean up the dust from the air inside your home, you should check this out.

I have one the dustiest houses ever! I have a laundry room on the top floor, which spews dust from my dryer. I am tired of dusting my house every other day! I have tried other air cleaners. In general, they have been big, bulky and loud. My husband won't let me turn them on when we are home, because of the noise. So, if they are not on, they are not effective! I have been seeking a quiet, effective solution. The Blueair DustMagnet 5410i may just be it! It is designed to look and act like a small, modernly attractive end table. It's footprint is small enough to place in my hall, outside of the laundry room, and not be in the way. It is extremely quiet, even on the top fan speed. And, it is effective in removing dust particles from the air. (See the after one week filter picture.) On the whole, I give it an A+.

My wife and I had been looking for a solution to the excessive dust and poor air quality of our bedroom and this air purifier from Blue Air was PERFECT! We have two dogs, one who sheds fairly badly and both go outside and bring in dirt, dust, pollen, and everything else they can by rolling around in the grass. To top it all off, our bedroom is one of the few rooms in the house that has carpet. Basically, it was a nightmare scenario for air quality. After using this air purifier for a few days, there is a drastic difference in our bedroom air quality. Setup of the unit was extremely easy. Aside from the feet that have to be attached on the bottom of the unit, it's already put together completely. Pull the two air filters and remove the plastic wrap and re-insert. Plug it in and you're done. The touch sensitive controls on top are nice and convenient but the app is where this product really shines. You don't need it to use the product but I would say it adds enough functionality that you'll definitely want it. You'll be able to control the unit remotely and see an air quality report for your unit. You can also set up timers and check on air filter lifespan, among other things. It provides you with a wealth of information. You can also use it to set up integration with Alexa or Google Assistant. VERY impressed with this air purifier. I am a little upset with myself for not getting one much sooner. It has made such a drastic difference in quality of life for us at home. Awesome!

The Blueair 5410i air purifier is a unique and welcome design to my living room! I absolutely love the fact it doubles as an end table, or at least a surface to put something decorative on. Most air purifiers tend to be loud, obnoxious, and just plain unsightly. This unit blends right into the room décor and is packed with features! Out of the box, this unit is extremely easy to setup. You screw in the 4 legs, plug the unit in, download the Blueair app and follow the built-in instructions to connect the device to Wi-Fi. The app is very powerful and allows you to change all the settings of the purifier right from the comfort of your mobile device. You can create custom schedules to automatically change settings throughout the day, monitor indoor and outdoor air quality for your area, plus see the filter status so you know when it’s time to replace something. If you more of a “set it and forget it type person” with the built-in air quality sensor on this device, you can simply set it to Auto mode and let it adjust itself as necessary. You can override the LED brightness and it also has the capability to turn on a child lock which is useful for those pesky small hands that like to explore buttons. The overall design of airflow on this device uses a DustMagnet technology that vortexes the air into the unit to collect dust before it has time to settle. The permanent, positively charged, stainless pre-filters are easy to remove and clean as this thing will pick up dust continually. The main HEPA filters do a great job at pulling out 99.97% of airborne particles like allergens, dust, pollen, dander, mold, bacteria, and viruses. The activated carbon absorbs those pesky household odors from cooking, smoke, and pets as well! On low mode the unit is a whisper quiet 31db using only 7 watts of power, and on high it’s only 50db and uses just 42 watts of power when running full tilt. If you’re looking for a quality, smart, multi-function, and flexible air purifier, don’t look any farther! This unit will not disappoint!

The Blue Air DustMagnet 5410i is an efficient, effective, and aesthetically nice looking air purifier. Assembly took about 5 minutes. I was quickly able to download the Blue Air app and connect to the unit via Bluetooth. After a quick exchange of info, it connected to my 2.4 wifi and I was able to control it from the app. Settings on the app include fan speed, an auto mode, a night mode, and the brightness of the LED indicators. There is also a dashboard on the app that will show the air quality reported by the unit. It is not required to be hooked up to the internet to work as there is a push button panel to control power, fan speed, auto mode, and night mode. It utilizes 2 filters that will need replaced between 6 to 12 months depending on air quality. It stands on 4 legs that screw in, and stands about 2.5 feet tall. It looks very pleasing though, slightly modern and all white. The fans are very quiet. I put it in a room that is about 300 sq ft and noticed a difference within a few hours. It said our air quality was pretty decent already, but making it a little better was totally worth it. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a convenient air purifier for a mid-size to large room that is easy to use and relatively inconspicuous for what it is!

    Diaper Smell Begone

So, I wasn’t the most sure how I would really test this as the air is pretty clean where we live except around august or so when the smoke gets really bad and this will be great for that. Then I remembered I had a baby and the diaper pale really gets to stinking when it is full. So I put it in his room and put the two head to head… over full diaper pale of stink versus an air purifier, and the air purifier won. So, for actually purifying the air, as long as you aren’t trying to purify a room that is too big for the size of the purifier to handle this should do the trick. Now onto the important stuff like integrations, ease of use and all that, now that we know the basic functionality is there. Design - I really like the design, it can be anywhere without being an eye sore. The buttons are all capacitive and there is a child lock feature in the app. Usage – So besides the benefit of purifying the air it also has a fan feature which can be set to auto, 1, 2, or 3. You can also set modes and such if you know of specific times of the day where you want one setting or the other. For us, we really like a fan when we sleep and at setting 3 it was the perfect loudness to replace the fan for us at least; so now we have one device that does both functions we want. App - While this device can be used without an app, you really don’t want too. The home page of the app has the outdoor air quality information based on your location and then the list of air purifiers that you have that are Blue and app connected, when you select one of those you can control the device as well as see the air purity at that particular place. On the left-hand side from the home screen there is a list of different areas such as settings, air quality map, Blueair store, integrations, support, and so on. The store is where you can order a new air purifier or more than likely a filter replacement. The air quality map is a google map with public air quality data for your location. This is an awesome integration to put into the app I think, just so I don’t have to go search for it. Integrations allows you to integrate with Alexa or Ok Google. With Alexa it is a smart home skill that is enabled, so it is not seen as a device. The disadvantage of this is that you need to tell Alexa to tell Blueair to set auto mode or what not, but it is still a useful feature. One feature I am not sure of is in the device page app there is a replace filters button, when I go into there it tells me which filter I need but it doesn’t give me a link to their store; I’m not sure if it’s because I don’t need a filter yet or if that feature just isn’t there but it would be useful if it was. Overall, I really like connected devices and I really appreciate what this air filter is capable of. Pros: - Design - App Connected - Alexa and Google Integration - Fan can get loud enough if you like the fan feature for sleep - Child Lock for controls - Lots of Air Quality information available in the app - Easy to setup Cons: - No link to store in Filter Replacement information area. - Alexa integration could be better

It was super simple to set up out of the box and the directions and quick start guide were easy to follow. Love using the Blueair app on my phone! Setup on WiFi was simple and upon opening the app, it shows the outdoor AQI and some stats about the indoor AQI. Simple to control and like that I can control it from another room to increase or decrease the fan, change settings, etc. I also set it to run during the night for a few hours just to keep the bonus room air cleaner. So far the air quality reading has been Excellent so I know it is working, and the filter lifetime is still 99%. It is a great looking air filter/dust magnet. Filter location is nice and the pre-filters are easy to take out and clean. There are 2 nice size filters that are supposed to last 6+ months. I don’t/can’t find a cost for replacement filters but hope they aren’t too expensive. I can’t even find a filter number to look on Amazon for price comparison – something to consider…. My son and husband have seasonal allergies and my son has a small unit in his room to help with dust and cat danger. This bigger unit is placed in our bonus room where my college son is currently spending most of his Zoom time as his classes are all online…. With that being said, he really likes how it helps with dust from the carpet and cat dander and keeps the room cooler with the fan blowing the cooler air out. Personally, I don’t like that feature – just too cool but maybe summertime will be better! We are hoping that as the Spring season arrives it works just as well with the allergens. Only Cons are that I don't like the cold air that expels when running, and concerned with cost of 2 replacement filters??

From the moment I opened the package, this device was 100% easy to set up. The air purifier comes packaged completely assembled except for the filters. Simply plug it in and download the app. After setting up an account and WiFi, you are good to go. Google Assistant can be linked to the air purifier to let you know when filter changes need to occur, however it cannot be linked to Google Home for controls. After running for about a month on the “auto” setting, I was amazed at how high in quality our air was to begin with. Surprisingly, the air quality depreciated when we opened our windows. But overall, it runs in the corner of our living room and we don’t even notice is. Very quiet! The one worry I have is the cost of filters. Blueair does have a subscription service, however, to be honest I haven’t looked into it. The air filters for this specific model are not available on Amazon yet, but others are. Looking at the average price of other Blue air filters I can assume that they will be between $50-80. While that sounds expensive, having had the purifier on for nearly a month now, the air filter still registers 95% of its life still left. If that is a testament for how long it will last, the price is not too bad. However, a shorter filter life would deter me from buying this product again. A lot remains to be seen on how it lasts in the long run, but from what I’ve seen so far I am happy with how it runs and its ability to connect as a smart device. I would recommend this to a friend or family member.

The Dustmagnet is very well made and nicely boxed packaged to arrive in good condition. Kudos for not using any Styrofoam! The design of the Dustmagnet is on the postmodern or retro side, so depending on your taste, you may like it or prefer one of their more basic appearing products. Once running in automatic mode, it’s very quiet unless it senses pollutants in the air, and then it will increase the fan speed to clean things up. The front status light color indicates your current air quality. There are also manual fan speed controls and a night mode which turns off the LED lights and holds the speed at a whisper-quiet level. The app geolocates your house to show and graph the outside air quality. Switch to device control and the inside air quality is graphed along with outdoor. The app provides full control of the unit’s fan modes, adjusts the led light intensity, and monitors filter life. It allows you to schedule different modes and fan speeds for different times of the day. I only have one unit, but it apparently will control multiple Blueair products separately. The app is a bit finicky and sometimes requires a restart to properly show and graph air quality. It does seem somewhat a work in progress. It appears to do everything it's designed to do and does it well. It gives clean, filtered air and removes a variety of pollutants … particles, gases, and allergens. Various Blueair products are designed for different sized spaces, so you need to choose appropriately. I know that the acute air quality problems that last fall’s wildfires created brought a high demand for Blueair products, and reports are that they did an excellent job of removing smoke particulates. I’ll know more about its ability to remove allergens as Spring arrives. I haven’t found any listing for replacement filters yet, but if the cost is similar to their other filters, they probably will be pricey. Although I now have a fully functioning unit, it was an effort to get there. The first one would not link to my WIFI to use the app. I tried every troubleshooting method listed on their website to no avail and then contacted support. That was perhaps the worse support experience I have had. After multiple attempts, disconnects, callbacks, and conflicting responses, I finally reached someone other than their obviously out-sourced support. After a helpful and knowledgeable discussion, a new unit was on its way. That unit immediately connected and worked without any problems. This experience brought my rating down. I would recommend it with the qualifications mentioned.

Right away when looking at this you can tell it is sleek modern design and should fit nearly any home decor. Out of the box you have to assemble the four legs (they simply screw into the bottom of the unit) and you will need to download the app to your smart phone. I plugged the device in while I was waiting for the app to install and then set up my account. It only took a few minutes to get the app up and running. Once you have your account enabled, then you can add your product to the app. It was very easy and straightforward. I was really happy with how useful the app is. It has lots of great information about air quality in my area (based on my address) and then it keeps me up to date on the filter status of the unit. I really like that has a nighttime mode, which make the fan run more quiet and also dims the lights on it. I am using it primarily in my kids bedroom, as it is rated for an rea of approximately 380 sq ft. There are 2 filters included, one for the top of the unit and one for the bottom of the unit. You will need to pull them out and unwrap them, then slide them back in. I was able to use the app to program the schedule for the unit. I have it set to go to night mode at specific times. then run on auto the rest of the day. After about a week or so of use I do feel like the room is less dusty. So I definitely feel like it is working.

This unit was easy to assemble and was running within 5 minutes of unboxing. It's light enough to move around as needed, and looks premium enough not to resemble a toy. The app didn't detect the air purifier at first, but once connected - the unit responds quickly to app commands. I mostly use the app to set the purifier from night mode to auto and to check the air quality. I'm a little skeptical of the air quality reading since it hasn't moved from Excellent since day 1 even though I live in a multidog household in the dusty desert. My nose is less stuffy in the mornings since acquiring this unit and the air smells fresher. Something that I'd love to see in V2 of this unit is a built-in USB hub to charge my gadgets. The table top is perfect for setting your phone/ipad and keys. Air purifiers nowadays are much quieter than those from 15 years ago. This unit is no exception -- it's whisper quiet. My enthusiasm might wane if I discover that the filters need to be replaced every 3 months or if the filters cost an arm and a leg like my Dyson. As of the writing of this review- I don't see the filters on BlueAir's site, but filter replacement cost will be something to keep in mind when purchasing any air purifier. Overall, this is a stylish and functional air purifier that seems to live up to the company's claims of reducing household dust.

Very happy with the Blueair purifier. Unboxing and set up was super easy, only need to screw in the 4 legs that do not come attached. Plug it in, read the manual, select your airflow speed (i put mine on auto) connect to wifi so you can control the unit with the Blueair app. Now Ive only had this plugged in for 2 days and I notice a substantial difference in my bedrooms over all breathability. This house has a lot of dust, I feel like Im always wiping things down. Maybe I havent owned it long enough to say this. But the dust level in my bedroom is dramatically reduced. I dusted before I started the unit just to test it from a point where there wasn't standing dust on my desk and nightstand/dresser. After two days my room appears dust free and I know my lungs will appreciate that. The booklet says the filters will last up to a year depending on how much dust and pollution is floating around in your house. And it will filter a 380 sq ft room 12 times an hour. Its very quiet and would not interrupt whatever you're doing. My son has allergies and I plan on moving this to his house after I did this initial review. I think this will work wonders for him and is the main reason I got it. I can recommend this air purifier in a heartbeat.

We have 3 dogs in the house which can add to the particle and dust in the air. This device does a great job of cleaning the air in the room and keeping any stray smells from lingering. It's got a great design and is easy to set up. The sound is not overpowering as well. I would highly recommend it.

I received the Blueair-DustMagnet 5410i and put it together in seconds. I will say this, it is very quiet and effective. We placed this in our sons bedroom due to the fact he has seasonal allergies. The Blueair-Dustmagnet has performed great. What we like about it is the controls, he can set the fan speed on the control panel or by the Blueair App that’s available at the App Store. That’s why I didn’t give this product 5-Stars. The app that can control is is very “laggy” and not easy to understand. I have tried to change the speed by the app and then check the purifier and its still on the same settings. It seems as if there is a LONG lag to get it perform. Otherwise, this product performs flawlessly. The setup and installation of the legs is simple. The filters are very well made and are simple to install and replace when the time comes. And again, to me, this purifier is very quiet. What impresses me the most is how this purifier has helped my son. Living in the South and now that Spring has sprung, the air is full of particles/pollen, etc. and my sons allergies have not been as prevalent since we received this. He has not had any problems this year, and the one thing I love about the connection to the app is that you know what percentage the filer is processing and how much “life” it has left. We have another purifier (in its defense its very old) that we have since moved into our basement. Overall, we are pleased with the Blueair-DustMagnet 5410i is a very well made and effective air purifier. I would recommend this product.

The Blue Air DustMagnet 5410i was a breeze to set up. Connecting with the app was simple, direct and worked immediately. The app tracks the air quality and displays it clearly in an easy to understand graph. I also like the bar which shows how much life is left on the filters. Within a couple days, my morning sneezing routine stopped. I have no complaints and recommend this unit.
