Tivo setup can be tricky but it's working great

The Tivo is relatively straightforward. If you're using cable service they will provide you with a cable card and tuning adapter to provide all digital services. This TiVo works as advertised. It's a better value to use the cable companies receiver as they update equipment and the only cost is a lease. With TiVo you have to pay a subscription even after purchasing the hardware.

I have never been a Cable TV user. When Spectrum changed my plan from Stream only and offered me a cable card, I was in the market for a DVR that uses cable card. Unfortunately there is not a lot of options besides Tivo. As this is the only leading company who still supports cable card, I had a lot of expectations coming to this. Unfortunately I am a bit disappointed, while the device is fully packed with a lot of features.
The UI looks outdated, but certainly much better than HDHomerun. The 4K apps are a plus, but I have Apple TV and so, it was not useful. The recording quality looks like any standard DVR from cable company. When compared with Channels DVR coupled with Nvdia Shield, I would rather prefer Channels DVR for it's good looking interface. Having said that, this not a bad option for someone looking for something that works out of the box.

works well. good list of channels. don't like the 15$ a month charge. I thought the first year was free, but it is not. Great list of OTA channels. even comet TV is listed just can't figure out how to list the other free apps. I do not recommend only b/c of the 15$ a month charge, but that gives U a good channel listing

So far only issue was getting to the right personnel in spectrum ( time Warner). Two phone calls and a technician visit to get cable card installation. Then got in touch with the actual cable card division of spectrum and some time on the phone and it worked.
Records and picture is excellent! Love my Tivo.

The TiVo - BOLT VOX 500GB DVR & Streaming Player is a huge upgrade from the TiVo Series 4. The Bolt has 4 tuners and built in WIFI. The menu takes some getting used to but it is much faster streaming than the Series 4 also. The same Cable Card from Comcast works in the Bolt and was easy to activate in the new box. I should not have waited so long to upgrade.

I have been a TiVo user since early 2000 and this model is not a workhorse like its predecessors. If you are not frequent DVR user this may be the DVR for you but know that VOD from your cable/satellite company is not available especially from Comcast/Xfinity. Great parental controls, and a good backup DVR for another room.

I love my Tivo! I wish I would have bought one years ago. Aside from recording lots of things at once, the picture quality is AMAZING! especially with my 4k tv. I wish I had bought the next level because the memory fills up fast, 500g is not enough. Still BEST investment made ALL year!!!

The Tivo-Bolt Vox DVR is a great way to cut the cord, but if you ever decide to go back all you need is a cable card. I was amazed at the number of stations received over the air. The only down side is the service charge, but it does a great job recording. I am happy with this purchase.

I was really looking forward to my TiVo but was sad to find out that it was not able to be used with Cincinnati Bell so you may want to check with your cable provider first before purchasing. I waited too late to return but Best Buy let me exchange it for store credit.

This is a really nice device and not only can you organize your favorite and subscribed channels like Hulu and Netflix, you can deselect redundant channels from your channel list. That’s gold to me! I look forward to using this for a long time or until they release the new version.

A solid unit but it was not what I asked for as I wanted an OTA unit with free guide. Tivo requiers a subscription and at the time of sale I was not advised on this. If you are looking for a DVR yhat u can own on your own then yes. Otherwise stick with what you have.

I got this on sale and couldn’t be happier with it. It integrates everything into one place and knows which apps or channels to use without having to go into a different program. Lots of recording space and awesome features on TiVo. Bought a mini vox also.

This box is already pay for itself. It was easy to set up. I do have problems sometimes watching recorded programs back with a lot of pixelation. I didn't have this problem for the first 3 months. TiVo now tells me I need an antenna booster because your signal must be at 80% supposedly to watch Good recordings.

It is the greatest thing to record your movies and all your show so you don't miss anything. It is great. Everyone should have one instead of renting from the cable company

The bolt has more bells and whistles but it has dropped some of the features my TiVo® Premiere had. For example, it had a port that I could hook to my DVD recorder if I wanted to keep a copy without loading the Tivo up or having to use auxiliary storage. It is also disappointing to find out the "lifetime" of the Tivo interface is not really lifetime.

Bought this for my inlaws, they dumped DirecTv and went with OTA antenna. Now they're saving $200 + per month. They love the menu and tv guide. Good purchase.

I would not buy this if you are going to use it over the air. Mine said to update and it is stuck doing that. I contacted support and he told me my device was bad, then to get a replacement they want me to buy a subscription. To register you are ask to purchase a subscription and if you do not you cannot register it. I did not do this and they told me I was stuck with the defected device. I am very unhappy with a $210 paper weight!

This is by far my favorite DVR. I have nevet experienced any trouble with the unit. In a few incidences, if I experienced a shortcoming, I simply unplug the unit, wait about 40 seconds and plug back in. It now works fine.
