I just bought a house and was buying my first dishwasher. This one had good reviews on a few sites (including Best Buy) and it was on sale. Best Buy installed it professionally for free, too. It works great and we love every part of it.

    Excellent Dishwasher

I did a lot of research before buying this dishwasher, as I was interested in a dishwasher that was QUIET!! This dishwasher is wonderful and quiet! Important to know, this dishwasher does no have a heating element, therefore it is very important to make sure you adjust the temperature on your hot water heater to the recommended setting. Additionally, we always stopped our old machine during the drying cycle to let the dishes air dry and save energy, this dishwasher does not dry the dishes, so you either open the door when it is finished and let them air dry or towel dry them, but like I said, that is not an issue to us. The small issue I have is that the rack is not set up to hold long casserole dishes easily, so we just work arund that!

    An excellent dishwasher

This is a fantastic dishwasher that I have been using for about a month now! The dishwasher has nice, adjustable rack organization that makes it easy to fit all of my family's various dishes, glasses, bowls, plates, etc. As long as you follow the instructions in the manual, this dishwasher will easily produce clean, dry dishes every time (make sure to use the 'sanitize' option on the machine as well as use rinse-aid liquid). Also, you should make sure your hot water is hot enough (recommended temperature is in the manual as well), as the hot water is a critical part of what makes this dishwasher clean so well and so efficiently. I'll admit I'm lucky in this regard as I just got a new water heater in the house that always has plenty of hot water to spare. I guess if there are only complaints to make, it's that there have been a couple of times when there was some water still left in small crevices of one or two glasses, but otherwise the drying has been excellent. Oh, and I thought there was a defect with the dishwasher when I first started using it because one of the electrical wires overheated and melted the control box, but after having a service technician look it over (free, covered under Bosch warranty), it turns out that when I installed it, I didn't make a good, secure connection between the electrical wires and the screws (my fault). And they still didn't charge me for it, which was wonderful. By the way, Bosch had excellent customer service when I called during installation, and they were quick to answer my question about some if the installation instructions that were not so clear. When I called for help with the overheated wires, I could either wait two weeks for a Bosch technician to come look, or I could call their one of third-party 'Bosch-approved' repair service companies, who were able to schedule me in quicker and give me awesome service.

    Cleans dishes quietly and effectively

The general performance is all positive for us. We purchased this model because of its superior rating in Consumer Reports. It has not left a dish dirty. (But, we always pre-rinse because of owning older models until now. I wouldn't say we have tested it extensively with grimy dishes.) It is very quiet as the specs describe and does not interfere with any other activities (games, discussion, TV) when it is running. Also, The look is beautiful. The hidden controls and simple stainless provide a very clean look. On the negative side, the rack layout is different than any I had used before and we are still adjusting. This isn't terrible, but my wife and I regard dishwasher loading as an art, so this feature is slightly insidious. Practicing loading with a few dishes at the store might be helpful. It packs dishes together very closely but we find ourselves running it about 2-3 times a week instead of 1-2 with our last dishwasher, so it seems to hold a little less. It will hold a boatload of plates, but cups and bowls seem more difficult to pack. Also, when it finishes, it beeps about once a minute until the door is opened.

We bought this to replace a 19 year old Maytag that started leaking and couldn't be fixed, but this is a review of the Bosch. We have been using it for about a month now and love it. I installed it and after the adding the rinse agent, loaded it up, set it for Automatic Wash Cycle, and Sanitize. When I turned it on you had to really listen to hear it run. When it was done, the glasses were clean with no spots, even with hard water. What we like about it: Options for: Heavy, Automatic, light, Sanitize etc. Quiet, I mean REAL quiet. It holds a lot of dishes. Way more than the old unit did. The dishes don't have a residue on them when it's done. I do notice occasionally there is a little water in the lip on some glasses when it's done, but I had that happen more often with our old dishwasher and it had a Heated dry cycle.

    Quiet & Beautiful Machine

I researched dishwashers for several months before making this purchase. This machine was consistently highly rated on consumer websites as well as consumer reports. The one complaint, that it didn't dry well, was often mitigated by pointing out that you need to follow the directions for drying - use a drying agent. I am writing this review after owning and using this item for three months. This machine is *whisper quiet*. I have an open concept living/dining/kitchen area, so this is perfect for me. In fact, it's easy to forget that it's on. This is the one con - so quiet, that it's easy to accidentally open the door while it's in use. It cleans my dishes, even when they're filthy and have sat overnight. I cannot recommend it enough.

    Good washer, but odd indicators

I did lots of research to find a good dishwasher at a reasonable cost. This washer hit all the marks. It cleans well and is very quiet. Only odd thing about this washer is the instrument panel. You have to open the washer to see the indicator lights. So when actively washing no lights will show status. Easy to get use to, but somewhat of an odd design.

High quality machine for reasonable money

I got this machine because it has a feature that prevents any accidental overflow of water by automatically draining itself if it detects an excess flow. I have had floors damaged by other machines where overflows from a defective valve only became apparent after my floor had been damaged by an undetected spill. To my knowledge no other brand has this feature. That said, it washes dishes better than other machines I have had and while some complain Bosch does not dry dishes as thoroughly as others, I have not found this to be a problem. This model has silverware holder that can be configured in a number of ways and a lot of headroom between the top and bottom dishracks. The dishracks also have some rows of tines that fold down, which allows more flexibility for loading different size dishes. It is very quiet, but I was never bothered by noisy machines so other features were more important.

Great washer. Replaced a Frigidaire Gallery that didn't clean our dishes well. This thing rocks. Get it and won't you won't be disappointed. It cleans like a champ and is quiet as all get out. We're totally stoked on this purchase. A bit of a smell as reported by others, but only when it's running and it doesn't bother us as we don't hang out by it. The fact that it gets our dishes clean and is rather silent about it wins the day in our books. We are an active family of 4 and run out washer often. I can't be happier with our purchase.

    I have clean dishes again!!!

First I have to mention that I absolutely HATE shopping for appliances, but Best Buy makes it a LOT easier with all of the information they have available online. I researched the heck out of the new dishwashers on this site, and knew I wanted one that had a reliable track record - I also did not want to spend more than $700.on a new one (crazy!). Other must-haves were delay-start, tall tub design, no "tower" in the center, adjustable upper rack, and a filter I could clean without having to disassemble the unit (like my old GE had). This dishwasher and my 2nd choice had them all, so I went to the store to see them in person to compare. Both were very similar, but after reading the reviews, and seeing the high number of negatives on the Samsung, I ordered the Bosch Ascenta instead. It arrived an hour earlier than my scheduled time, which was fantastic. My husband and I installed it ourselves, and instructions were fairly clear, but this wasn't our first rodeo. If you've never installed one before, pay close attention to the directions regarding wiring and hooking up the hoses, especially the water line. If you're not used to dealing with any of that, pay the extra $$ to have them install it & save yourself the time and aggravation. Once installed, we attempted to load it. This is where having a new dishwasher really sort of sucks. After loading my GE for 12 years & knowing where everything went, the Bosch is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. I found myself referring to the owner's manual for loading instructions, which helped a lot. About the only thing I have an actual "complaint" about is the fact that there really isn't room allotted on the upper rack for large utensils (knives, slotted spoons, etc.) - the best spot is along the outside of the top rack, but be aware you are sacrificing room for glassware this way. The tines are too close together on a couple of rows also, so it makes loading deeper bowls a little difficult, but with a little practice it's getting easier. I will say that the interior of the Bosch is noticeably smaller than my GE was - I find I am unable to load as many dishes as I could with the GE, but now that our kids are grown & moved out, it's not as much of an issue for us. If you have a large family still at home, it may very well be an issue for you - if that is the case, then be sure you go and see the appliance in person before ordering it online. The difference appears to be in the depth of the racks. Once the dishes were loaded I ran the Normal cycle. It did seem to take a LONG TIME to complete, but you couldn't hear it running - not even the water running into the unit like our old one! We have an open concept kitchen/familyroom/diningroom, so the silence is much appreciated. I had some dishes that were pretty crusty and gross- I wanted to "test" the dishwasher, and it passed with flying colors. For the next load, I rinsed them really well (as always) and used the Express Wash cycle - it is done in about 45 minutes, which is great. Again - dishes were spotless. The only thing I really do NOT like about this dishwasher is the annoying end-of-cycle beeping. It beeps 3 or 4 times, then waits about 5-10 minutes and does it again...and again...it does not stop until you physically open and shut the door. It's not something that I would consider returning the unit over, but Bosch, if you are reading these...take the hint. Due to this being an Energy Star unit, the dishes are not dry when the cycle first completes. I usually run ours at night, open & close the door when it's done, then let them sit until morning - they're dry by then. Not having a slide-lock for the door might be problematic if you have small children in the house that don't listen to you, but the door doesn't open very easily either - you really have to give it a "tug". I guess this is where teaching your children not to play with appliances comes in. Bottomline: If you like sparkling clean dishes and want/need a super quiet dishwasher, then this is the model to get. Yes, I would purchase it again, and yes, i would recommend it to my friends.

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I carefully research every new appliance before purchase, and it was no different with this one. A few things you must know before buying this: - It does not have a heating element to dry. You MUST use rinse agent for even mediocre drying. Because of this your dishwasher will always be humid and STINK. Oh my word this thing stinks if you don't run it every day. - It takes HOURS to run a cycle. Seriously - you could hand wash your entire kitchen contents in the time it takes this thing to complete a cycle. - It doesn't clean very well. If you use the MOST expensive Power Plus Action packs it will do a mediocre job. Be prepared to have food on your flatware as you unload. - Speaking of flatware....if it's not the highest quality you will get brown rust stains after they go through a cycle on this machine - OH - and the FUN part. Pay attention to the little light on the floor. Once you start a cycle there's NO LOCK on the door. So you can absolutely open it mid-wash. If you do prepare for a shower of water all over you and your kitchen. Fun. On the plus side, it's so quiet you're sure to open it mid-cycle at least twice before you train yourself to double-check the light on the floor. I hate this machine. Save yourself the headache and buy something else.

    Too small

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

It bothers me to have to give this machine only 2 stars as it did clean my dishes quite well, but after only having it for 2 weeks, I've decided to return it. The inside is much smaller than the GE that I had previously and there's a lot of wasted space on either side of the utensil basket that shocks me considering it's German engineering; the best in the world. Speaking of the utensil basket, I swear it fits only about 1/2 of the amount that I was used to with my GE Profile. It has all of these weird waves inside of it; not sure why, but it cramps the already small amount of space given. To add to that, it had a funny odor in the beginning that went away, but if you have any amount of water accumulating in there, it will smell unless you leave the door cracked open to air it out. No thanks..... I have a nose like a pooch, am EXTREMELY clean, and my dishes go in almost clean as when they come out so there should be NO smell. That and I tried to be all environmentally friendly with the no dryer thing and "no bueno". The inside of the machine stays soaking wet and thereby contributes more to the "stinky dishwasher" syndrome. Living in S.W. Florida, I don't need any other swamp smells around me, particularly in my home! All in all, I'd say it's probably built well, but it just wasn't right for me. Much like my ex-husband.....

Easy to install and works as advertised. This is a very quiet model, but you have to give it 2-3 cycles to break it in. Cleans great and dries quickly. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a high-mid range dishwasher that is rated higher than more expensive models and is a great value!

We've had our Bosch for about a month and it is awesome so far! It's super quiet and gets the dishes spotless! We have followed others suggestions to put it on auto and sanitize and use jet dry, so I'm not sure how it works on other settings.. It is tough to tell if the machine is running but we just put it on before we go to bed and its not a problem.

We've had this dishwasher for a few weeks, and I'm really happy with it. I know that people are complaining about the loading/racks, but I'm much happier with these than with my old Bosch. The old Bosch had completely movable racks, and we never could keep them the way we wanted them- we always have a problem reattaching them (which might have been our problem, and not theirs- but it was a pain in the neck anyway.) These are stable(one movable in the top rack,) and that's fine with me. The racks before almost made me not buy this, but we like Bosch's quality overall, so my husband talked me into it. I'm glad he did. This isn't cheap, but fair value for a good appliance. Also, a much better buying experience with Best Buy than in the past. Way to go.

First let me say I am not sure what people are talking about when they say they can't hear it run, Right now the water is swishing around cleaning my dishes. I can't hear the dishwasher running, but I can hear a lot of water swishing. So it is not as quiet in my opinion as those that say you can't hear it running. The Samsung that this unit replaced was much quieter with the sounds of the water making noise. I wish the unit had some sort of light to indicate when the cycle is done. The unit keeps beeping five times unit you open the door. Lastly, this is not a negative review. The unit works great and has one of the highest ratings of consumer reports. This unit works well. just two points to be aware of.

Door does not latch due to fatal structural issue

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This washer is very good at washing dishes and is VERY quiet, however there is a fatal flaw that required us to replace the unit. The door latch simply did not work. The door would pop open slightly during cycles, just enough to turn the unit off. Combined with the extremely quiet operation, you never knew if the unit is on or off. Eventually we had to prop the door closed with a chair. With the internal controls we could not tell if the unit was on or off or if a cycle was completed without opening the door. This design flaw may be due to an attempt by Bosch to reduce costs by using a plastic structural frame rather than metal. Bosch customer service was pretty good about resolving the issue. They sent a repairman to install a stiffener bar to address the door latch issue (apparently this was not a unique issue and Bosch had a fix, but it was unsuccessful on our case). After that failed repair attempt, Bosch agreed to replace the unit. We chose to upgrade to a different unit to avoid the same problem. We also chose a unit with controls that are not hidden so we can monitor cycle progress. If this was a car, it would have been recalled. As it is just a dish washer it is up to the consumer to resolve with them.

    Liked my Whirlpool better :-(

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I'm not overly impressed with this dishwasher. After extensive research and strong recommendations for Bosch as one of the best brands on the market, we chose this model. After waiting a month for the special order and delivery, and paying close to $800, I'm rather disappointed. The interior appears to be smaller with not as much room between the racks as our prior model. The layout of the tines on the racks is very limiting -- great if you have only plates, glasses, and silverware, but good luck trying to accommodate a few serving dishes or storage containers. I also don't like the side silverware basket as much as the Whirlpool basket on the door. As far as positives, it looks great (very sleek and "high end"), is extremely quiet. As a side note, our previous dishwasher died, so we had to replace it. We took the opportunity to upgrade all of our appliances to stainless steel (bought LG range, microwave, and fridge), and the one thing we truly needed -- the dishwasher -- is the only new appliance that I don't love. If given the chance, I don't think I'd buy this dishwasher again.
