    Broke just after 3 years

Purchased this dishwasher 3 years ago and technician stated the circulation pump is a goner, seal is broken and it leaked water all over the floor. Not fixable (pump alone costs $450, not including labor.) Expected more from Bosch for it's $800 price tag. Per technician, don't spend more than $500 on a dishwasher because they are all poorly made now.

Warning do not buy this dishwasher. It has a design flaw that allows water to stay in tubing or bottom of dishwasher and a build up of gunky stuff gets in the filter causing this dishwasher to stink within a a couple days after washing dishes.

    Works great until it doesn't

We had this dishwasher for nearly two years and it was great while it worked: cleaned and dried well and efficiently. The water softener feature was helpful. But now, at nearly two years, it's no longer starting; the sensor appears to have gone bad. For the price we paid, and the supposed brand reputation of Bosch, it's very disappointing.

    Highs and Lows

Overall, this product is going to work. My home has shorter than standard counters so we had to purchase an ADA compliant size dishwasher, which this one is. Though we just had it installed yesterday, there are a couple things I noticed right off the bat. First, the highs. This dishwasher is extremely quiet, which makes it perfect for my very small living space that is connected to my galley kitchen. There is no need to raise your voice when standing right next to it because everyone can still perfectly hear you, almost as if it wasn't running at all. Now for the lows. The rack design in this dishwasher is very poor. On the bottom, the gaps are so far apart that you couldn't put a glass down there if you wanted to because it is just going to tip over. However, what is also disappointing is that you really can't add a normal size glass to the top either, unless you remove the top silverware/utensil rack. Also, the manual says it can clean even baked on foods. Don't count on it. I added a pot that was used to rewarm stew, and the dishwasher couldn't clean off the top ring. I think it is going to still call for some scrubbing. Finally, I was a little disappointed with one piece of the build quality. We purchased the stainless steel version, and the outside facing layer of steel flexes back and forth significantly under the recessed handle. This means that if you push on the face of the dishwasher, you here the sound of it flexing back and forth, and it is not solid like every other model or stainless steel appliance that I've ever used. Overall though, it will do the job and is a lot better than having to hand wash all of our dishes like we've been doing since the house didn't have a dishwasher to begin with. It just feels a little cheap and I expected more out of the 800 series.

I bought Bosch 800 Series with water softener almost a year ago, replacing a 20+ year old Kenmore dishwasher that came with our house. I hated the Kenmore and couldn't wait to get a good dishwasher that didn't require pre-washing the dishes to get them clean. We have hard water so we got the Bosch 800 with water softener. In all honesty, the thing is no better than the 20 year old Kenmore. You cannot put dirty dishes in and have them be clean. You can put pre-washed dishes in and they will be sanitized. The best thing about the Bosch is the ability to get the dishes truly sanitized. Dirty plates may come out clean. Dirty casserole pans or mugs will not. The worst part is the amount of white hazy stuff on the surface of some glasses and plastic. I use the best dish washing detergent, rinse aid, always keep the salt dispenser full, run the hot water before starting it, do all of the tricks to make dishwashers perform better and the Bosch 800 does not function any better than a dishwasher much older and cheaper. So save yourself a lot of money, buy a cheap dishwasher and accept the necessity to pre-wash them. I could fit more into my old Kenmore dishwasher and it worked just as well as a brand new Bosch 800. Add to that the stainless steel looks great but is so much more of a pain to clean than the old black Kenmore dishwasher.

    Horrible quality!

Purchased this dishwasher less than 6 months ago. It has been broken 5 times...all the same water pump issue. Best Buy has replaced the part twice already and even replaced the circuit board. Still broken!!! What a disappoint from Bosch. This the last product I ever buy from them. Now the battle to get it replaced begins.

I will give this dishwasher a 1 because there is no zero option. I purchased the dishwasher about a year ago. My old unit quit working and I needed a lower height unit to fit my under my counter. This one offered a lower height and had good reviews. My two big issues with this dishwasher are 1) it has a nasty odor and 2) unable to dry dishes. I believe the reason for the odor is because the unit does not come with a grinder pump. As a result the unit is not able to pump all of the food waste out of the unit. We have cleaned the filter and all that good stuff but it still stinks when you open the door. Lesson learned, buy a unit that has a pump w/ a grinder. Also the unit does not know how to dry dishes. The unit does not come with a heating coil but I guess it is suppose to have some magic way of drying dishes but does not seem to work on my unit. Cups and glasses always have water left on the bottom ends especially plastic glasses. Lesson learned buy a unit that has a heating coil to dry dishes. I knew when I bought the unit it did not have a grinder pump or a heating coil but I believed what the manufacturer wrote and the reviews were pretty good. I am not one to write reviews but I thought this needed to be shared.

    Replacement for Maytag

This dishwasher was a replacement for an older Maytag model mdb7851aww. Although both fit under the counter space, we did not realize the significant differences in interior dimensions. (The front access door is several inches shorter and the compartment is noticeably shallower in depth.) Also be aware that the heater (to dry the dishes) only works on automatic and sanitize cycles. It is too much of a burden to ask Best Buy to replace an installed unit, but we recommend that you review -- and measure -- carefully before making a final purchase.
