I purchased this headset because it can be used an a headphone with Bluetooth or as a hearing aid device in which you adjust the volume and balance thru a download to your phone or tablet. Recently started having trouble with the on/off switch, will be checking with Bose or Best Buy to see if can be resolved. Other than that it has been great for me and my hearing problems.

I have about a 70% hearing loss between 3-6KHz in my left ear. I don’t mean to gush, but I have a lot of high quality headphones, yet I find myself enjoying these Bose Hearphones more and more. The quality is superb and they’re very comfortable causing no wear fatigue. I love the fact that I can adjust the volume balance to compensate for my one-sided hearing loss. Not sure whether I like them better as substitute hearing aids or high quality earbuds for streaming music. They excel at both. And there’s the Bose Hear app! I’m a retired software engineer and I know quality software when I see it. Kudos to the Bose development team for building a high quality app with a very intuitive, interactive user interface. And it works great on both my Android smartphone and my iOS tablet. As a music streaming device I love the fact that I can dial up the music volume while at the same time dialing down the outside world with a separate control appropriately named World Volume. I have some very good hearing aids, but even those don’t have the incredible directional capability of these Hearphones. For instance, I was sitting at the dining room table reading the newspaper. The Hearphones were set on Everywhere (omnidirectional) when someone started making noise in the kitchen behind me. The Hearphones were picking up every bit of it. So I opened the app and set them to Front and then Focused Front. The irritating background noises behind me just faded away. It was amazing! My wife and I were dining out one evening and I had my Hearphones set to Everywhere. They were picking up too much background noise so I switched them to Focused. The restaurant noises faded away and I could hear my wife much better. There are a few slight negatives to mention. The Hearphones full battery charge only last about 5-6 hours and not the advertised 10 hours. About three times over as many weeks, the Hearphones just shut off for no apparent reason. And finally, the Power/Bluetooth button is very hard to engage. I have to press so hard I’m worried I might damage it. But, so far no problem. Overall, I’m very impressed with these Bose Hearphones and can highly recommend them to anyone who wants to improve mild to moderate hearing loss.

I loved these headphones. They are great and the sound capabilities to hear in different directiosn is such a unique feature. My only problem is that they stopped charging after a while and I took them into Best Buy because I had the awesome insurance on them but I don't think they are selling these headphones anymore. Bose did a great job with them but seems like they are not being sold anymore. I wish they made apps like active translation for these headphones.

I bought the Hearphones prior to getting actual, calibrated hearing aids. I ended up returning for two reasons. The first was the around the neck was not the most comfortable on hot and humid days which is most of the time where I live and I do not where collars around the neck. The second was that the little control bar was harder to manage than I expected. I think for someone not ready yet for hearing aides this is a nice alternative. I think future gens of this product will likely improve.

the Headphones are great, unfortunately my wifes hearing is such that they did not work for her. I was tempted to keep them for myself but our budget just wouldn't let me. great product though.

This headset sounds amazing. I really like the way it works with the Bose app. However, I am not getting anywhere near the battery life suggested in the specifications of the device. I am considering returning the item for this reason.

      Hi, TennesseeStatesman2000.
Thanks for your review. I'm delighted you like the sound and the way your Bose Hearphones work with the Bose Hear app. Battery life depends on the way you use your Hearphones. World Volume, Bluetooth streaming volume, and Auto-off options all affect the battery life. For example; if you are enjoying Bluetooth streaming content, you can turn down the World Volume for a more immersive experience while you save some battery power. You can set the Auto-off options in the Bose Hear app under Settings. Also, if the battery is depleted, a quick 15-minute charge provides approximately one hour of play time. I hope you these ideas have helped. bose

For me they were too bulky and moving my hair, I would pull out of my ears. The constant need to change the direction of listening was a bit more than I would want to do on a daily bases. But the price is okay if you can’t afford hearing aids. They did pick up sounds well.

Horrible Bluetooth range and BOSE horrible service

It is amazing that this day and age the bluetooth has a maximum 9 foot range and often only 5 to 6 feet if you turn away from your phone. So if you listen to music it constantly cuts out. In addition, it needs to connect to an application on the phone at that seems to need to be 3 feet away or it disconnects. It seems like it would be incredibly easy to solve this issues and it is mind boggling that they released a product so poorly designed. Plus, it is almost impossible to get to a BOSE customer support via any channel including email. It is like they feel they are above customer service. If they fixed the things I mentioned, its would be a fantastic product. AS it, it is a very frustrating product.

We had high hopes for these helping my 74 year old father who refuses to get a hearing aid! The hearphones and the app to control them are great: high quality, easy to use, and it's a wonderful concept. The app lets you customize the direction from which you want the microphones to focus on, and what to drown out. But even with the background noise set at minimum, he still complained that the background noise was too much to be able to hear what he needed to hear. We returned them because they are too expensive for the little amount of improvement he got.

I bought these when I was needing hearing aids but didn't want the in ear canal fuss or the expense of real hearing aids. These are basically earphones that have been reprogrammed to act as a hearing appliance, and I had high hopes for it. However it just didn't work well for me at all for several reasons (fit, noise, sound pickup, etc), and I returned them and got real hearing aids that are so much better (and with insurance they were really not that much more).

I have had tinnitus since I was born. Using these doesn’t work on that problem but it does drown out sounds around you making it easier to hear someone talking to you. They have also other features that you can use with an app and adjust ambient sounds.
