I have to say I have been wanting to purchase these for awhile but have held off. I bought them about a week ago and have used them most every night since. They are extremely comfortable — like you can’t even tell they’re in your ear. The charging case is handy and easy to store them in. I worried at first I might lose one but so far that hasn’t been an issue. The sound choice is pretty good and there are other sounds you can download. The downloads are made over Bluetooth so they’re a little slow but they can download while you’re sleeping which is a plus. The volume level is very wide — but I think they could go a little higher. Unlike other reviewers I don’t care that you can’t listen to music — you can just get some regular headphones for that. They do an awesome job at masking noise (they are not noise canceling). I worried at first when I needed to get up I wouldn’t hear my alarm so I set a couple of backups, but I still heard my phone. The headphones also have a decent alarm as well. Overall I think they’re great.

Overall they get the job done. I'm able to sleep better. I have the SoundOffSleep headphones. These fit more comfortably and and multiple sounds. However, charging is hit and miss. Have to reset the case often to make sure they are 100%. The SoundOffSleep charge a lot easier. Good buy. The price is high but if you can't sleep, you'll pay about anything.

I've lived with insomnia all my life, and have tried many things. Sleep sounds such as fans helped, but living next to a busy road and having neighbors means that I would often be perturbed back into wakefulness. Motorcycle people often want to show off how loud their bikes can be without care for others. It's a mating call, oh well. Thought I would have to just live with it. Noise canceling headphones only went so far but comfort issues can just be bad as the motorcycles revving their engines outside my window. Sleeping pills are just terrible. They work, but only for a week or two at most before they become less effective, and they are too easy to become dependent on. Worse, they make you groggy the next day and off your game, even if just a little, sometimes a lot for me. The night before I purchased these I got only about three hours of sleep. That's miserable, especially when you have to work early the next day. I had been eyeing these for a while and that 3 hour night was my breaking point. These are not cheap, but how much have I spent on sleeping pills and all the other solutions? And what price is quality of life. So I once again threw my hope into a product and thankfully this time it paid off. The first few nights are a little weird. Your mind needs to get used to it. The product fits perfectly and comfortably, much better than airpods for example, so there is no discomfort to distract me, but we insomniacs are a sensitive people and you still feel that something is in your ear, even if it was a fluffy cotton ball. The constant sound also requires getting used to. So I was iffy the first few nights, and even took them out the first night. But I kept at it. Last night I had fully gotten used to them and had the best sleep I have had in a long time, and without sleeping pills. Last night was the first night I was able to fall asleep without sleeping pills in months, in fact. My mind had gotten used to the new sensations and sounds and it was amazing. They mask the street sound nearly perfectly, except for the occasional extra loud motorcycle, but even then the sound that does make it in is so softened that it doesn't take me out of the spiral into sleep. Now, these aren't miracles. Insomniacs often have problems turning off their minds enough to fall asleep, and mindfulness techniques and training are helpful for me there. But these two things alone, mindfulness and the sleepbuds wouldn't be enough. Coupled together, they have proven for me to be a powerful way to manage insomnia. I'm writing this on the day after a healthy full night sleep (I have a sleep tracker as well) and feel amazing both physically and mentally. So now the price of these doesn't hurt one bit. So worth it, and I would even pay more knowing now how well they help me. That being said, I can easily see the day where these are approved as medical aides such that they can be prescribed and covered by healthy insurance. Until then, I appreciate the risk that Bose took in bringing this product to market and hope its something they continue to manufacture for the rest of my life. If these go off market, I will dread the day the pair I have stop working. Highly recommended for fellow insomniacs, just don't see it as a cure. Couple it with mindfulness techniques, though, and you get pretty amazingly close. It's a potentially life-changing purchase worth the asking price. Of course, you may get different results than I did, but sleep is so central to our physical and mental health that if there is a chance it will help its probably worth it. I also plan to get these for my mom who has kindly shared the insomnia gene with me :)

Game Changer - expensive but works!

Short Review: Yes, these are expensive for what they are and they have their shortcomings in light of the asking price. However, considering how small they are and how well they do the singular thing they were designed to do... if you are at the end of the line trying to sleep because of noise disturbance - these are for you and worth every penny. These are superior to external noise machines, ear plugs, and medication. If they broke, I would purchase them again. Pro tip - the low tones in ‘Warm Static’ do a fantastic job of blocking the snoring of a loved one. Longer Review and Thoughts: The main complaint seems to be that they can’t stream music. This is a reasonable complaint at first glance with that price tag. However the issue deserves some thought. It seems to result directly from compromises Bose had to make to design truly tiny buds. The main body of the bud that the rubber ear-fitting piece surrounds is amazingly small. When you pop it out it is smaller than a dime. Smaller than the main bud of an Apple AirPod. I’m sure Bose could enable the buds to play music... for all of 2 hours. There’s no way the battery is big enough to maintain a streaming connection for long. The library of sleep noises is stored on the buds and the buds only communicate with the phone to sync alarms and other settings. Most of the battery is used to power the speakers all night. When battery technology advances I am sure these are what the future of truly wireless buds will look like. One more thought. Alarms are something I always worry about. A concern was if i set an alarm on the Sleepbuds and for some reason they fall out (with the proper size shell, its unlikely) would i miss my alarm? Luckily, you can set an alarm on your phone and on the Sleepbuds independently and they both will go off when you like. Having the buds connected does not turn off your phone’s alarm or trick the phone to think it has headphones paired and route the alarm to the headphones. Overall, these are fantastic and ultimately spare my loved one from having those snoring devices in her nose or being poked and prodded when I am trying to get to sleep. They have been a game changer for us.

These could be perfect to help anyone get to sleep

These could be perfect for helping anyone get to sleep and stay asleep, especially when one's morning environment is particularly noisy. One of us is a snoring machine, with sleep apnea only partially aided by her CPAP. I wouldn't be able to get to sleep without the sleepbuds. And I wouldn't be able to stay asleep in the mornings when I need to look after my elderly Mom in her condo with all the noise in the building and out on the street below, not to mention the construction noise over the last year. I have used the sleepbuds for the past year and 4 months, and I'm very glad I bought them. I said at the outset that they "could" be perfect, as I have had some problems. First of all, I'm a side sleeper and the buds (no matter which size of tips I use) do frequently make my ear ache a bit after I've slept on them for awhile. More distressingly, I'm on my third pair of sleepbuds. With the first set the left bud stopped working. And on the second set, the magnet which holds the right bud firmly in place to be charged in the case stopped working, so that the sleepbud was never properly seated to charge. However, both times Bose was great, and quickly processed a return and speedy replacement. I was sad to see that Bose announced last month that they're discontinuing the sleepbuds, due primarily to battery issues. I had really hoped Bose would continue improving these so that sleepbuds 2.0 would be actually perfect. If they had a new and improved version I'm sure I would buy a pair right away. I understand, however, that Bose will still honor the warranty and effectuate returns should any problems arise with a particular pair of sleepbuds -- which offers a welcome level of confidence. And though I read that Bose would provide full refunds for customers who wished to return them, I'll pass on that generous offer and continue wearing these as long as they last. Otherwise, looking for alternatives would undoubtedly keep me up at night.

I read hundreds of reviews of this product before I bought it, as my sole and only reason is to drown out hubby's snoring that I refer to as a freight train with chain saws running. We gave up sleeping together years ago, but when we travel, it gets very expensive getting two rooms. I've tried ear plugs, loud TV, even 2 bedroom suites, but his snoring penetrates it all. A few times when he tried different products, by midnight I was at the front desk looking for another room. I hated to spend $250 for these, but Bose is such a good brand name (I love their headphones), so I gave it a try. Be aware if you buy them on line you get a 30 day warranty, but if you buy them at Best Buy as I did, you only get 15 days. I figured we'd know in 15 days, so I went to the local store and bought them as we were going out of town in 2 days. As pretty much every review states, they DO NOT drown out the noise, they substitute another noise. And as most of the reviews state, the options are few, and the ONLY one that does it for me is the rustling leaves.....I used them first for a weekend, and only brought the medium ones, and by day 3 my ears were a wee bit sore in the morning, but it went away when they came out. Next trip, I brought the small ones, much better. I am mediocre technology wise, and I had a bit of a battle getting them charged the first and second time, I wasn't paying close attention....now that I know how, it's simple, the little parts that need to be together in the case are almost magnetized to attach to each other. Once I see and hear them click, I know it's going to charge. One night the left one lost its charge and that's my good ear, so it was a problem, but it was almost morning, so be aware that the buds are in their correct position, correct side of the charger, and watch for the barely visible green line to let you know they're ready (once you know what you're looking for, it's easy). Although I can still vaguely hear hubby's snoring, the rustling leaves are somewhat hypnotic and I am able to get to sleep, especially needed when on vacation in a strange bed. I stress that these do not drown out the sounds or snoring, but the rustling leaves sound masks it enough for me. We're seniors and sleep is crucial for our health, so I'm grateful for these little helpers. At $250, I now think they were a bargain as it has saved several 2nd hotel rooms for us when travelling. They are paying for themselves.

They work well at masking noise. Which is good as I work shift work on a Rig which can get noisy at times with people talking in hallways or slamming doors. They help mask that noise and keep me from waking up. They are not noise canceling which is good because it still allows me to hear alarms in an emergency. They fit in my ears well and are surprisingly comfortable. For the price however I think they are way overpriced.

    Game changer

I can’t think of any negatives after using these for about a week. Sleep does not come easy for me. These sleepbuds do a great job of reducing outside noise, which for me is a nearby highway and a snoring wife. But the game changer is that they produce calming masking sounds of my choice and volume that help me clear my mind, go to sleep more quickly and stay asleep. They’re more effective than any earplug or prescription sleep med I’ve tried. I’ve tried listening to calming music to help me sleep and that doesn’t have the same effect as these sounds. Their tranquil, repetitive, monotonous nature lulls me to sleep. Bose has just about every detail covered in the design, too many to put into one review, but let me just say they are a pleasure to use. The sleepbuds will continue if they get disconnected from the app, and the alarm, if you’ve set one, will still go off at the right time. The one issue I had with the disconnection problem was when one bud got disconnected but the other didn’t. The one that got disconnected was the one in my ear that was on the pillow. Maybe the pillow blocked reception. Anyway, when I went to change masking tones on the app, it changed only the bud that was connected and the other kept playing the former masking tone. So I had different sounds pouring into each ear. An odd experience. This has only happened once and it’s easy to get the buds reconnected. You just pop them back in the charger and take them back out and they’re reconnected. These sleepbuds have really impacted my health. The benefits of a good night’s sleep cannot be overestimated. I expect to be using them every night until they wear out.

The buds are comfortable enough to last 8 hours of sleep. I am on my second buds already. Bose gave me a replacement because on the first one, the right bud quit connecting to the app. I've noticed that sometimes I need to try to align the buds in the charging case a few times to make sure it will charge. On occasion the buds do not connect to the app right away, requiring them to be put back in to the case for restart.

Since earbuds are not something one can try on in a store and I had numerous questions that only could be answered after purchase, I am writing this to help others who might have same questions. First: I was very concerned about having something in my ear when I sleep and didn't think I would like it. Answer: due to their smaller size and the fact I only wear them part of the night, they are fine. It is all about getting them in the right way and choosing the correct size bud, though you still know they are there. However, one night when I awoke, I couldn't seem to hear and wondered why until I thought...oh i have my earbuds in! Forgot they were even there. Next question: will they actually help me sleep? The answer: In my case, yes about 80% of the time I go to sleep easier. In fact many nights I actually look forward to putting in my earbuds just to listen to the soothing sounds of the waves and block out the day's stress. There are 9 other sounds, but the sound of waves is my favorite. But again, I only leave them in a few hours each night The earbuds are indeed noise reducing though not blocking so when my husband does snore or is restless, I don't notice as much. How easy is the phone app to use? Super easy! And there is a built in timer so I can select the length of time that I want the sounds to continue. I usually choose an hour, then when I wake up to use the bathroom I take them out. Also, I understand that there is a built in alarm so not to wake a sleeping partner. Yes, they are expensive of course for this limited use, but for those of us who do suffer from chronic insomnia they are worth a try.

I'm a loyal Bose customer (headphones, wireless speakers and TV sound system), and I have a snoring spouse. So, I was eager to try out these new noise-masking sleep buds. First, they come in a sleek box and charging case, with a look that mirrors the sophisticated technology of these tiny speakers. And, the setup was easy. I downloaded the app, and the buds connected immediately to my phone. It took a few nights for me to get used to wearing them. And, I had to keep adjusting the sound level so they were loud enough to mask the snoring but not so loud they kept me awake. I've now found a good setting that works beautifully -- most of the time. Overall, my sleep has improved significantly with the buds, and that's made it worth the pricey investment. The sounds are soothing, although the variety of them could be improved. The buds are comfortable in the ear. The battery life is amazing given how tiny they are. There are issues, though, that keep me from giving the buds five stars. After about a month of use, there have been a couple of times when static on the buds actually woke me up. Not sure why it happens or what causes it. I've also had to pair the buds to the phone again twice. This is done by placing the buds in the case and plugging in the case while the Bose app is open. It's not a huge deal, just a bit annoying. And even though I've had the buds placed tightly in my ear, they still have come out during the night a couple of times. I'm glad I made this purchase. But, the buds do take some getting used to, and there have been some relatively minor problems.

Pros: No cords, listen to tranquil sounds. Spouse has CPAP machine – masks out the whooshing/hissing/whistling noises coming from the CPAP machine that I hear. Allows you to sleep & mask out noises! No more sleep deprivation! Be sure the buds & case firmware are updated via computer before use. My first pair was defective & I exchanged to BB & so far no problems! I love using my ear buds! Cons: No you can’t listen to your own music & keep away from any interference (2.5GHz/5GHz) appliance(s). You must use Internet & Bluetooth to operate. My first pair: Intermittently: One side disconnected from Bluetooth & volume got higher in one ear, and the case & ear buds didn’t recharge even after reset & updated firmware. Recommendation: Bose: Mark the Right & Left ear buds like hearing aids (Red & Blue dots for Right & Left) for easy identification. They need better quality control on the product.

These are absolutely fantastic for traveling and sleeping in foreign rooms and areas. The buds really do isolate and help mask almost 100% of reasonable noises through the night. Comfort wise they aren't too hard to wear night after night. I wore them for 2 weeks straight each night while on a longer vacation that included hotels, a longer term hotel room and then a boat for a week. The super low frequency hum that came from the generator on the boat was the only sounds really that it didn't mask well. The batter tended to last about 2 nights of sleeping 7-8 hours. The only complaint I have is the app that Bose has can't just be exited. To stop the app you have to go to system and force it to stop otherwise it just runs in the background after you are done in the morning. Hopefully they will see this review and resolve that issue. If you are used to using a sound machine at home or white noise machine these are the BEST things you could buy for traveling away from home and getting fantastic sleep. The alarms that ring inside the ear buds are great for only waking you up and not anyone else inside the room.

Slow to recharge and not effective noise canceling. The sound selection is good and they are comfortable. Just thought that they would be better since their headphones are excellent. Takes too long to download new songs and must be over 80% battery to complete the process. I still use them in hotels or with background noise disruptions.

I would never have bought these if they weren't on sale AND I had a $50 reward certificate I had to use. However, I'm so glad I did. They are extremely comfortable (I'm strictly a side-sleeper) and to a fantastic job of blocking noise and easing you into sleep. I've had horrible issues with falling to sleep in the past and I don't say this lightly, but this and an eyemask have borderline cured my insomnia. They are definitely worth the $250. If you're on the fence, definitely give them a try. My only complaint is you have to make sure the magnetic holder that connects the buds to the charging case attaches properly and the charging light blinks. It can be finicky. The are so small the battery does cannot last more than one night. They must be stored in the case and seated properly. The case itself can charge the buds for multiple nights before itself needs charging.

Working 7p-7a comes with it’s own challenges, including finding restful sleep while the rest of the world is busy making noise! These are the best earplugs I’ve ever used. I put them in, set my alarm, and play the rainfall sound. Once I fall asleep the only thing that wakes me up is the alarm! Lawn mowers and barking dogs got nothing on these. Just be sure you can hear a fire alarm or have someone to wake you up if there’s an emergency! The only reason I didn’t rate 5 stars is due to the occasional error connecting to the earplugs once I remove them from the case. Sometimes i’m stuck putting them in and out of the case a few times to get the phone to recognize them, but fairly uncommon. Overall would highly recommend and can’t think of any other product which comes close to these! Oh and they’re fairly comfortable, after a few minutes I can’t feel them in my ears.

Had these for about a month and while you can not steam to them Bose does offer a variety you can listen to while you sleep. You need the app to make them work and the app dies not work without the buds. I used to sleep with a fan but now I use the shower sound from the Bose app and it helps me sleep through the night. As far as masking the sound of snoring I cannot say that it does that because I do not sleep next to somebody that snores but I’m inclined to believe that they will do that pretty well depending on how loud the snoring is. My suggestion to you is to try them maybe they work for you maybe they don’t but if they don’t work for you Best Buy and Bose has a fairly decent return policy. I give them a four instead of five stars because sometimes they disconnect and I have to reconnect them. And the sounds are not that loud.Other than that I recommend them.

The good news is the buds do mask snoring and are relatively comfortable. I am a side sleeper and these feel less intrusive than regular ear plugs. (Having said that, you are still sleeping with your ears plugged. If you can’t tolerate that sensation, then these will not solve your problem.) My biggest complaint is establishing connectivity with the buds at bedtime. Almost each evening the Boss app cannot find one of the buds. I then repeat the process of putting them back in the case and trying again to establish a connection. It’s nighttime and I want to go to sleep not play with my phone and the buds trying to get them to work. Frustrating.

I've had these for over two months now. My wife snores loudly and these did the trick. I set it right at the volume with the dash, at about 2/3rds. On rare occasion I've gone with higher volume when she is really going ham. The key is this. You have to make sure you use the correct bud size and that when you put it in you can essentially feel it lock in place (you get three sizes to choose from: small, medium, large). So ignore the reviews that these don't work, I guarantee you its because they did not feel the 'lock' effect when they put them in, and there is air (and hence noise) getting in. It is true that some of the sounds you can detect the repetition and it might drive you nuts (like Chinese water torture), but there are sounds that I don't notice this, especially the airplane sound, and the Cascade (waterfall sound). The 'rustling leaves' is a great sound but its too easy to notice the repetition (loop) so I seldom use it. Another minor drawback is that 1) you have to 50% of the time put them in and out of the charger to get them to sync to bluetooth, 2) you have to finagle some to get them in the charger in the morning. But these are minor compared to the real value they provide. I sleep on my side and these have greatly increased my sleep time! If these break tomorrow I will pay the cost to buy them again, and again, and again. :)

I was having an issue with my snoring partner. I can't sleep without this. I love this for these reasons: (1) It is small, fits perfectly, sleep comfortably, whether you sleep in the face up, sideways or face down position. (2) This is not a noise-cancellation, but I don't need to turn on any sound, just wearing the sleepbuds shut off most of the noise as these fit tight in the ear. (3) The most amazing feature is - this can be used as an alarm. The sound just comes out only from the sleepbuds, so you will never wake up other family members. I was always looking for a silent alarm, but this is incomparably better.

I would recommend this to a friend
