Setup is too complicated - no online help
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had nothing but problems trying to set it up. Have an older Sony TV and never did get it to work. Am going to have to buy a new(er) TV just to see if it functions. I suspect the one I had is bad (saw other online comments and they had to ship their's back for the same failure to link up with my wifi.)

Posted .Hello scottishheat! Thank you for sharing your feedback and I am sorry to hear about your disappointing experience. The SoundTouch 300 soundbar incorporates a unique system called ADAPTiQ that is a critical component of calibrating your speaker for optimal audio performance, including the simulated surround sound. you can find helpful instructions for setting up the ADAPTiQ here https://bose.life/2sly1zF. Buy it while you can
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've owned this soundbar for 7 months now and I love it. The sound is incredible. The soundbar itself is sleek and easy to clean. Sounds slightly better than the Sonos playbar in my opinion. The app needs work though. I've added the Virtually Invisible rear speakers recently and it feels like a movie theater. This sound bar is being discontinued so pick it up if you can. Bose is releasing new soundbars with Alexa built in. Who needs that? The new ones will not have the 4K pass through like this one does.

A great soundbar with a few issues
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sound quality of this is amazing, but sometimes getting it setup can be a little bit of a pain. First the good qualities/features of this soundbar. The sound is crystal clear and makes even a TV sound awesome (remember to turn your TV volume down!). Connecting Bluetooth devices is pretty easy and doesn't take that long at all. I was able to hook a phone and tablet up to it with no issues. I had some issues getting the Bose Acoustimass wireless subwoofer hooked up to this. I followed the instructions and it kept coming back with error codes whenever I would try to get it setup. There were no issues just getting the soundbar itself setup and that was easy. When you go through the setup process where you use the Audio headset, just keep a few things in mind. Make sure the room is quiet and sit as still as you can. The good news is that it tells you what's going on and you can try again. At one point, there was too much background noise and once it stopped I was able to get it setup with no issues. The soundbar design itself is high quality, with a nice glass top. This is a pretty hefty soundbar, so just be careful with it! It comes with a microfiber cloth for cleaning, but the glass does show dust and dirty pretty easily. The universal remote is very nice and you can setup your TV, DVR, and other devices to it instead of juggling with multiple remotes. I would've given this 4.5/5 stars if I could, but unfortunately I couldn't give it the full 5 star rating at this moment. I'm sure that things will change and updates will go through to make this better!

A new level of achievement for Bose!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bose has really been putting a lot of effort into their research and development lately, and the Sound bar 300 is definitely proof of their hard work! I’m going to break my review down into sections. 1) Packaging and Unboxing: The packaging is very eye-catching and contemporary, with enough details to catch attention. Unboxing the unit is straightforward and simple, with everything protected properly. All items are easily accessible with now chance of anything getting tossed out by accident. 2) Appearance and Build Quality: Wow… Bose has stepped up the game with this beauty! Absolutely beautiful detailing with tempered glass on top and wrap-around metal grill, unibody aluminum frame and user-friendly indicators and aces to all connections. So much attention to detail, which is wonderful. The manuals are easy to follow as well. 3) Set-up: The unit is very easy to set-up and operate. I love that it has a HDMI ARC (Audio Return Chanel) and 4K pass-through for easy hook-up to 4K televisions. There’s also Optical Out if needed. Chances are pretty high that a person purchasing this unit will already have a 4K TV. The remote and onscreen navigation are very user friendly as well, plus the remote can be programmed for other devices. The unit has network connectivity, so be sure to follow the procedure and check for any available updates as soon as possible. 4) Sound Performance: Bose already has a reputation for excellent sound, but this sound bar definitely take things to a higher level. There’s a LOT of new driver technology being used in this unit! The surround effect is amazing and the overall frequency response is beyond the size of the unit… so typical for Bose. You’ll be amazed at the bass response of this unit! Also, there’s a calibration device (AdaptIQ) that can be worn and will calibrate the unit to work flawlessly with your room’s dimensions and acoustical properties. Be sure to re-calibrate if you are lucky enough to also purchase the Acoustimass 300 Subwoofer and the 300 Surround Speakers (both are wireless and a must-have if your budget allows). Conclusion: Please do yourself a favor and give this unit a listen if you’re in the market for a fantastic sound bar! The price may seem high, but the build and technology is worth every penny. Again, if budget allows, consider adding the subwoofer and surround speaker… they will provide the complete theater experience. I would also suggest doing some research on YouTube and Bose.com for photos and technological details. It’s good to see that Bose is not only maintaining quality, but striving to move their products into a higher realm. Kudos for a job well done!

Excellent Soundbar - I Am Very Impressed!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been building my dream home theater system and that is the primary reason I wanted to experience the BOSE SoundTouch 300 soundbar. I recently purchased a new 55” smart television and was now looking to begin adding additional items to continue building my dream home theater system. I have been using various Bose products for approximately 35 years – so I felt that if it was from Bose it would meet all my expectations – and it did. However, I researched various soundbars in order to reach an informed-decision of which soundbar I felt would best fit my personal requirements and lifestyle - both current and future. The Bose SoundTouch 300 is jam-packed with just about every current feature and technology a person could possibly desire – plus designed to grow with you on into the future. It is not lacking in any way – and the sound is unparalleled. The Bose SoundTouch 300 is physically-thin and slim in design, but the sound is anything but thin. It is a beautiful product with its glass top and perforated metal grille. You can add an optional wireless bass module and wireless surround speakers to achieve a full 5.1 home theater experience. Having said that, I am more than satisfied with the all aspects of the sound without the optional components. But, I can't wait to hear the entire Bose SoundTouch 300 system as I am able to add the additional modules! I was a bit concerned when I looked at the first page of the quick-start guide and saw that it said to place the soundbar at least 1-3 feet away from other wireless equipment. That was a concern for me because my new 55” smart television is connected via Wi-Fi to my Internet router. However, I experienced no problems upon placement of the soundbar a mere six inches away from my television. I am very satisfied with the features of the Bose SoundTouch 300 soundbar. It is built with every imaginable feature and technology a person could want, plus includes a universal remote that makes switching between various sources a breeze. I love that the soundbar includes both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, plus offers HDMI inputs/outputs. I really love how easy it is to calibrate the soundbar to your room – you simply put on the ADAPTiQ headphones and the soundbar speaks to you as it fine-tunes the system's sound to your room. One moment I might be using the soundbar for my television and the next moment I'm using the soundbar to listen to streaming music. All done easily with the touch of a button with the included remote. Something I really love about Bose is that they make sophisticated products, but you don't have to be a professional to use their products. My only complaint is minor in nature – included in the box is a quick-start guide that I do not feel is adequate for setup of an elaborate, highly-sophisticated home theater system. However, using the online user manual, setup then becomes quick and easy. I am the type of person who, at any given moment 24/7, simultaneously has multiple sources of video and multiple sources of audio going on. I really love the Bose SoundTouch 300 soundbar because with the touch of a button on the included universal remote, I can quickly and easily switch the sound being played through the soundbar from one source to another. The Bose SoundTouch 300 soundbar is an exceptional product. It was 10 years in the making – and definitely worth the wait!

Top of line - Crisp
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought the SoundTouch 300 and the Acoustimass 300 wireless bass module together. Set up was absolutely simple - plug and play types. Plugged it using HDMI ARC with my Sony 690E TV. Sound is just fab - crisp dialogues with amazing thunder. Honestly, I do not have enough words to describe. Immerse into a different world and enjoy!

Did not like sound
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I returned this speaker system. The base was too much and the sound quality was not clear. A soundbar that packs a punch!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This sound bar offers a classic design, much like other products of the company, but very elegant, with a glass top panel and front grille perforated to allow sound to come out better. On the left side of the bar, we have a few icons that show us the type of connection that has the bar. The bar looks elegant glossy black and is designed to not occupy too much space. Setting up the Soundbar, I was struck by the care Bose puts to ensure you get the best sound possible. They immediately instruct you to put on a headset that contains a built in microphone. By sitting in the various seating locations of your room, with the headset on, and inputting that via your remote, the bar is able to calibrate itself for your specific room. That's a high level of care and detail for a plug and play soundbar. I was immediately impressed by the sound quality. Stereo TV shows as well as Dolby Digital shows, sound great. However, music is very important in my life. I immediately setup SiriusXM and programmed my favorite channel into preset one. There is a single HDMI input and a single HDMI output. If your TV supports HDMI ARC you can connect your TV directly to the sound bar and the TV will provide the audio. If your audio is supplied by another unit you can connect that unit to the HDMI input and the TV to the HDMI output and the sound bar acts as a pass-through. If you want your TV to be the source of your audio and it does not support HDMI ARC then your only other option is to have optical out from the TV to the optical in on the sound bar. Every cubic inch of it is packed with technologies that make everything you listen to or watch sound clear and spacious, the glass top and perforated wrap-around metal grille make the soundbar look as good in your room as it sounds. And with both Bluetooth® and Wi-Fi® technology built in, you can wirelessly stream music any way you prefer. ADAPTiQ® audio room calibration from Bose ensures the soundbar sounds the best it can in the space you put it. HDMI™ connectivity with 4K pass-through keeps your system compatible with the most current technology. NFC provides quick and easy pairing. The SoundTouch® app gives you simple control over your favorite music. Works together with other SoundTouch® speakers so as you go from room to room, your music goes along with you. Includes a universal remote so you can control your other devices, too.

There is a difference between loud and clear
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Been a bose fan for years. Decided on buying this soundbar because of clarity. It may not be as loud as other soundbars I’ve tried, but I’m sure it’s the clearest soundbar and best sound quality I’ve heard on all the sound bars I demo at BB. I was told that this would not work with a non bose subwoofer. Wrong!! Good thing I did not buy one. I was able to connect my active subwoofer which is an off brand that I had sitting at home for a while on through the subwoofer out of the bose soundbar and it works.. saved some money from not buying the bose subs The stereo / surround effects separation kinda makes you think you have surround speakers. I would definitly recommend this soundbar to anyone who like quality and clarity of their sound. If your looking for loudness this may not be for you. To me clarity overcomes loudness. If it sounds clear it does not need to be loud. Maybe a little pricey but it’s worth buying.

Excellent sound system.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this system (sound bar,sub-woofer,rear speakers) for about two weeks now and I have to say I do not regret buying it. I replaced a Bose Lifestyle 135 series II with this setup because I wanted the Bluetooth capabilities (music from my phone), the ability to add rear speakers, and I really didn't need the console for all my other connections. I have a Samsung TV that has an external connection box for my DirecTV, Bluray, Apple TV, and Fire TV so I did not need the Bose console for these connections and the video switching from device to device. All I was using the Lifestyle system for was the Optical cable connection (sound). Also I was able to remove a piece of equipment from the cabinet (I try to be as minimalist as possible. Since my particular TV has an HDMI (ARC) connection I was able to make that connection to the Soundbar for my sound. It's supposed to be the preferred connection for the best sound for UHD video (not sure I can really tell the difference). Comparing the sound of this setup to my Lifestyle system it is as good if not better than the Lifestyle system. Sound quality is excellent with both systems (I know you Bose haters out there would disagree) but the 300 has the capability to add wireless rear speakers to your setup. Although you will need a power plug for each rear speaker only the sound is really wireless. I would highly recommend you add the rear speakers because (to my ears) it takes movies and music from sounding great to sounding excellent. Granted, if you want your whole house to shake when the action really starts to heat up your going to need a full blown dual subwoofer, Dolby Atmos, high power system (that's in my other room). This Bose 300 setup is what I use for my everyday TV/movie watching and music. The sound is still excellent but I'm not trying to blow the rafters off (not that it can't get loud too). For the serious action stuff I go to the other room. At right around $1800 with tax this system might be priced a little high but compared to other systems out there I think the sound quality makes it worth it (to me). I have and have had a lot of Bose products and they have all sounded great to me which is what it's all about. If it sounds great to me then they have accomplished their goal and that is to make me happy. The connecting of the sub woofer and rear speakers via Bluetooth went flawlessly and the built-in adaptIQ program read five different seating positions to adjust the sound to whatever room you have. Having listened to the system before and after using the adaptIQ, it really made a world of difference in the sound field so I would highly recommend using it. Now my only problem is trying to decide if I'm going to sell my lifestyle 135 or hook it up to the TV in the bedroom. Buy the 300 system, you would love it.

Dynamic, Sleek and Impressive
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bose SoundTouch 300 The Bose SoundTouch 300 has transformed our family room into a realistic version of being at the game but in the comfort of our own home. Never before had we realized the dynamic sound that we were missing by only using the sound system through our TV. The SoundTouch 300 brought home our game day win like never before! Assembly: Straight forward, no nonsense assembly even for the technically challenged. Follow the easy instruction booklet to connect the few wires and then set up the system for your room with Adaptiq. The instructions are easy to follow with pictures to illustrate where/how to connect. Unpacking and connection of wires took less than 10 minutes. Once connected you run the Adaptiq setup. This technology has you move around the room with a wired headset to fine tune the sound to the specifications of the room it is placed. Do not skip this setup as it is key to the quality of sound. Quality of Sound: The first time I connected the SoundTouch and tuned into from regular TV speakers to the soundbar, I was blown away. Simply amazing, full bodied sound that immerses you within the activity of the program or music. The sound was 10x louder and amplified. There was absolutely no latency that caused delay in the speech of the person matching the sound. The remote is easy to learn and use to cater the sound to your liking. Use: Our family loves TV and music. We have used the SoundTouch while streaming movies, regular TV programing and listening to music. The better quality sound of the recording or streaming you are using will surely impact the quality of sound emitted by the SoundTouch. Our movie experience has been enhanced tenfold as the SoundTouch allows the sound to bounce off the walls and for you to feel the beats and booms. Additional Features: Bose offers you access to the SoundTouch via many methods. The remote, computer program download, and app download are all available to ensure you are connected via any method you enjoy. The phone app makes accessing the system super seamless with a quick touch. The Bose SoundTouch300 is sleek in appearance and packed with features. A bit more expensive than some other brands but well worth the additional cost for the quality of sound you receive. It is a quality item that is durable and long lasting. I absolutely recommend this product to all. Make family movie nights and game day wins even better!

Excellent Sound/Mediocre Setup
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.4 out 5 stars. 1/4 star off for a slightly steep price. 1/4 star off for the wifi setup which it appears other have had issues with as well. 1/2 star off for not having more than one hdmi "in" port. Having said that, the sound on Bose Soundtouch 300 is awesome. I originally had intended to use it exclusively for watching movies and TV. After getting the wifi connection up and running I used the Soundtouch app on a Windows 10 machine as well as the Android app to play music. While there are a variety of music streaming services you can use I found myself using the Amazon Prime Music service the most. Log in to your Prime account and you can stream stations or playlists at will. Tis the season so I loaded up a Christmas Station and away we went. The kids and the wife loved the music. The sound is clear and full throughout the whole range. While it lacks a punch without the dedicated sub it still covers the low end well without cutting out the bottom end. Having an app for Windows and Android was nice because of the phone rang I could easily turn down or pause music without issue. When paired with a good movie the sound is again full throughout. The low end was again well managed and it did manage to rattle the room a little when turned up during explosions. One of the features I liked was the clear sound when watching tv. Essentially it makes vocals much more distinct. This was nice when the kids were in bed as if I had it turned down low I had a hard time hearing voices. With this feature on it was much easier hearing people speak. I imagine this would be helpful for people with hearing difficulties too. Appearance wise this device is beautiful. They give you a little tv cleaning cloth to use. You will find yourself using it if people touch the soundbar at all as it is shiny almost piano black on the front and top. It looks amazing without being gaudy. I've got it in front of a similar black tv and a cherry wood tv stand and it looks perfect. Well done Bose. So the issues...none of them are deal breakers if you are looking in this price range to begin with. My issue with setup stemmed from downloading the app to my phone and computer and neither of them connecting to my wifi network. Ultimately what I suggest is get a micro usb to standard usb and plug your computer in directly to the soundbar to get the wifi working. I went through numerous forums looking for why I was having an issue without success. I noticed in another review here that a Bose Rep has responded to someone else having difficulty. The direction from the Bose Rep are detailed and appear to put the Bose into broadcasting a wifi signal that you can connect too. Again, I plugged into the device directly so your milage may vary. Either way it is clear that Bose is working to improve this experience. I also had firmware update within a couple weeks of getting the device and the apps have been updated too. It looks like Bose is front and center with addressing peoples issues and improving the end user experience. The one thing I would prefer is more hdmi ports. As my tv does not have a return hdmi port I ended up connecting to the Soundbar using an optical connection. My preference would have been to connect my cable box and Xbox to the Soundbar via hdmi and then out to the TV. Given the way the device sounds though I'm not sure that there would be a discernible improvement despite what I've read online. At the end of the day I would recommend this to a friend. It fills a room with quality sound that can be turned up without cutting out or distorting. It's rich and full and our family loves it. Thank you!
