Excellent Sound from a Sleek Soundbar

Bottom Line Up Front: This SoundTouch 300 sounds really nice. We replaced a terrific Bose Solo 10 with this model, and the SoundTouch offers distinctly richer, fuller sound.   Unboxing the product was average which is fine with me, but some people appreciate a ceremonious unboxing experience. The product is attractive, low, and wide, and it will present well with larger televisions. Connecting to our television was straightforward. While the SoundTouch offers HDMI ARC connectivity, the optical digital audio connection worked best with our setup.   The audio setup process was unusual. You place a headset with a microphone at the top on your head, and follow audio prompts to sit in several spots in the listening area. Twice this process failed for me. Then I removed the headset to point the mic directly at the soundbar instead of the ceiling. Setup was then a breeze.   The SoundTouch 300 works with Bose SoundTouch app (Windows, Mac, iOS, Android). I used the Windows and iOS apps. The interfaces are identical. This is fine for Windows, but its departure from iOS paradigms made it a bit confusing on my iPhone. The interface looks sleek, but it is not very intuitive. That said, it will quickly connect your music service from your phone to the soundbar via Bluetooth and will allow you to control the volume without any performance lag. Same for the Windows application. Many music services are natively supported (Spotify, Pandora, etc.), but Apple Music is conspicuously missing. However, it can be played via the direct Bluetooth connection. The Bose apps will show the track information and will synchronize in real time allowing you to control iPhone playback from your Windows computer. Not bad, at all. The app can also update the software on the soundbar.   The SoundTouch remote is very capable. It paired with our electronic devices easily and controls them well. If users are not keenly aware of what device needs to be controlled to achieve a given configuration, they might find themselves confused. To be fair, this criticism applies to most multi-device remotes. Overall, the buttons are thoughtfully placed for easy access, and they provide nice tactile feel when pressed.   The sound produced by the SoundTouch 300 really is refreshing. For mundane viewing like news or a basic program, the voices are clear and distinct from the background tracks. For movies with more aggressive audio presentations, the SoundTouch fills the room with richer tones and wider stereo effects. The bass is present and balanced without drowning out the higher frequencies. Volume control is precise allowing you to achieve just the right volume (some less sophisticated soundbars offer just ten volume levels). Audio fidelity remains excellent whether the volume is low, medium, or high (a significant factor for why I appreciate Bose products).   We really like the SoundTouch 300 and would confidently recommend it to friends and family who appreciate better sound.

I have to say, this Bose sound bar was not what I was hoping for. It did not live up to expectations. I felt like set-up should have been a lot simpler than it was. The directions were incredibly limited and left a lot of unanswered questions. Plus, there apparently isn't much in the way of support on Bose's website or their app for the new Soundtouch 300. I tried to set-up the Wifi through my home network but couldn't find the network that was supposed to be in my settings. I went through all of the steps on Bose's website for troubleshooting this, nothing worked. The Bose app doesn't even list the Soundtouch 300 yet! Also, I'm not sure if it was my TV or the sound bar, but I couldn't not connect the sound bar using HDMI ARC. I had to use the optical cord instead. All in all, the overall experience was below my expectations. Everything was frustrating, including trying to set up the universal remote with my devices. Nothing seemed to go like it was supposed to. I'm definitely not the most tech savvy person, but I can usually set up my new electronics without too much difficulty. I expected better from Bose (especially at this price point).

Thank you for reaching out to us for help. We can appreciate the frustration as the help site was still under development at the time of launch. We are happy to provide steps to an alternate setup that should get you up and running with wifi.

Disconnect any USB cable or Ethernet cable connected to the system.
Turn the system on and select the SoundTouch source.
Press and hold the 9 button for approximately 5 seconds. On the soundbar, the indicators above the Wi-Fi and SoundTouch will glow solid amber. This indicates the system has entered the alternate setup mode and is broadcasting its own Wi-Fi network. Note: Alternate setup mode cannot be entered if there is an Ethernet cable connected to the back of the soundbar.
On your computer, tablet or smartphone, activate Wi-Fi and join the "Bose SoundTouch Wi-Fi Network". Note: It may take up to 60 seconds for the network to appear on your computer or smart device.
Open a browser and type: http://192.168.1.1 in the address field. The Wi-Fi setup window appears on the screen.
Select your home Wi-Fi network from the drop-down list.
Enter your password (if required) and tap or click "Connect." If connecting to an open network that does not require a password, the password box may not be visible or clickable, but the "Connect" button will be active.

The system attempts to connect to your home Wi-Fi network. The Wi-Fi indicator on the system temporarily blinks white and turns solid white when connected to the network. It may remain solid amber for a few seconds before it begins blinking; this is normal.
On your computer, tablet or smartphone, return to the Wi-Fi control panel and rejoin your home Wi-Fi network. The device may automatically return to the network it was previously connected to, as the system has ceased broadcasting its own network.
Once the system is on the network, follow these steps to complete setup otherwise the system will only operate as an AirPlay destination: Download and launch the SoundTouch app on your Mac or PC. On the SOUNDTOUCH SYSTEM SETUP screen, select: "SYSTEM ALREADY CONNECTED TO NETWORK".

If you have further questions, we encourage you to speak directly with our product support specialists and we'll be glad to help. You can reach us at 1-800-379-2073. We are open from Mon. – Fri., 9 AM – 9 PM EST. Bose

    Good But Not Great

This soundbar is nice for music but is not necessary when watching television. For both television and music, the volume can be very low but the soundbar still provides plenty of sound. What I like best about it is that I can connect my iPad Pro to it very easily. Additionally, it was very easy to set up which is very important to me. So it is worth buying but is not a necessity. So the pros are: easy to set up, nice for music, volume can be low but is louder than expected at low volumes, and it easily connects to my iPad. Cons are: doesn't make much of a change when using for television shows and the minimum volume level is still quite loud which could be a problem if you are using it while your child is sleeping or some other time when it is necessary to have a relatively quiet atmosphere. As for the second con, there are of course ways around this problem but I still consider the volume both a pro and a con.

Sound quality my family can enjoy!

My family and I are sticklers when it comes to our sound systems. My family and I are always looking for ways to improve the sound for our family movie nights, video gaming, and music experiences. Well Bose out did themselves when building and designing this Soundtouch 300. Before even hooking it up and hearing it in action I could tell this is a beast and is going to give a top of the line quality sound and a sleek stylish look that will enhance my entertainment center! My family and I are loyal gamers and play in leagues, so to have a high definition sound is very important to us. Well that is just what this Soundtouch 300 offers. I can hear my opponents and the sound effects of the game crystal clear making my gaming experience reach a new level. We also do family movie nights once a week and with this system it just helps you get lost into the movie. My kids love watching their favorite films while using the Soundtouch 300, they say to me "mom this is just like at theaters". This also a must have if enjoy listening to music like my daughter and I do. You can get a pretty loud sound and can adjust the bass to make music really have some kick behind it. I like to use the bluetooth feature to link my google playlist from my phone to the Soundtouch 300. I recently had friends and family over and we turned on some music to get yhe holiday spirit going and all my guest could not help themselves from staring at the system. I got so many complements on how awesome it sounds and looks. Setting up this Soundtouch 300 was very simple and user friendly. This included everything I need to set it up including the correct sound cable. I have a 60 LCD TV I bought 2 years and the HDMI Arc cable was not compatible but no worries there because this included and additional optical cable that did the trick. The universal remote control is pretty sweet as well, I could link it to my TV and my DVR with full functionality just like the factory one that came with them. Cant forget to mention that it also included an ADAPTiQ headset. I definitely would recommend this to all my family and friends. This is a extremely nice sound systems that has excellent quality, sound, and looks sleek and sharp!

    Bose almost got it right

This soundbar is an improvement over the previous Lifestyle 135 Series III system but lacks key functionality. Most importantly if you purchase this plan to spend the extra $700 on the subwoofer., otherwise you will experience the full capability of this system. One of best features of the soundbar is Bose technology that bounces sound off the walls. It sounds like you have multiple speakers setup in your room. I like the sleek look of just the one speaker on my table and subwoofer hidden. Sound quality is excellent it replicates the entire range of sound from 20hz - 20khz. I was most interested in having a system that can produce bass for watching movies. This is the only soundbar I have found that has adequate bass. Now for the negatives.... 1. No indicator for volume level. 2. Lights on the soundbar stay on all the time which is a distraction. 3. It is recommended to use a hdmi return cable from your TV. I have a 2016 Samsung TV that does not have that available. Not sure what TVs do. 4. No auto power on as most soundbars do. 5. Remote control is very large. Bose should replicate DirecTV's latest remote for the best user experience. If one of the above negatives were included I would rate the unit 4 stars. For the cost of this it lacks key functionality.

    Amazing sound!

Amazing sound! I am really amazed at the quality of sound that the Bose SoundTouch 300 provides alone without any additional speakers. I have a very large living room that I calibrated it to and it not only sounds amazing in there but through the whole house with the volume not turned up completely. I can't honestly tell you just how loud it will go because while turning it up it was so loud that i couldn't stand it anymore and started turning it back down. But even that loud the sound was crystal clear. The thing i have found the most amazing about it is that my elderly father who has a very hard time hearing loves to listen to music. All the other speakers we have that he listens to if we turn them loud he can hear the words that are being sang as long as he is sitting close to the speakers. The sound quality with this soundbar he is being able to hear it no matter where he goes through out the house. I didn't think it was possible to find something to let him enjoy his music so thoroughly again. Also a cool feature i didn't know it had was that i could plug it to my computer for a few minutes and load all my songs i have stored on my computer to the app and then i can play those songs from the app on my phone. Super cool! The only complaint i have had with it was the instructions that come with it in the box tells you very little and leave you confused on how to set it up but that was easy to fix by going to the Bose website they have very detailed instructions on how to do everything here. I would recommend this product to anyone even to people with hearing problems.

    Great Speaker. Terrible Setup

TLDR: Awesome Speaker. If you plan to use WiFi, Connect to Ethernet first to do the initial setup and update to latest firmware then switch to WiFi to avoid headaches. The Bose SoundTouch 300 Soundbar is a really really good sounding speaker with some nice features. I am impressed with the range the speaker puts out. And the sounds are satisfyingly sharp. After using the included headset to tune my speaker to my room I was impressed with the travel of the speakers, the sound fills the room nicely. I am very pleased with the sound I am getting. I would give the product 5 stars if not for the terrible setup for this speaker. which fortunately is fixed in updates. Below is my setup experience: I bought the speaker brought it home plugged it in followed the instructions in the manual at which point it instructed me to finish setup through its app on my phone. I wanted to setup WiFi since I didn't want to have to run an Ethernet to the device. However, the WiFi on the Sound bar refused to setup I tried everything I could think of but the device did not behave as the instructions directed. (amber light above WiFi should be solid to setup WiFi this should happen on first boot up. Or you can start the setup again by pressing a combo on the remote the light never went solid just kept blinking) finally after struggling into the evening I decided on returning to bestbuy and exchanging it for another to only find that the replacement did the exact same thing. After some trouble shooting. (which I am very familiar with since my Job is literally testing products as Quality assurance for a tech company.) To get it working I had to hook it up to Ethernet after which I installed latest updates after which SUPRISE!! the WiFi now works. It would seem the initial firmware they released to these devices were not so WiFi friendly. So a warning to anyone having trouble setting up WiFi. Connect to Ethernet first to download lasted firmware and that should get your WiFi going.

    Finest product of BOSE

I am a great fan of BOSE and I was using sound touch 120 prior to this. I started using this sound bar with huge excitement and then had some disappoint like sound not coming through sound bar, HDMI CEC not working as designed with my tv etc.. I looked in to blog and found lot of feedback on the same. But later I figured out the root cause.. I HAD TO MAKE UPDATE TO TV SOFTWARE (Samsung) and connect only HDMI CEC between Tv and sound bar.. connect all other devices to Tv hdmi port. Quick setup the universal remote. What next ?? This SOUND BAR is amazing!!! Pros: I was using sound touch 120 and this sound bar is even more good with sound clarity. Exceptionally good sound quality Easy to install NO wires around the room! Sound touch app and the universal remote is amazing .. just one click in the remote, music is ON. Good fit for any dimension room using adaptiq We can add extra wireless speaker and make seamless surround sound effects.. If you are looking for rich true sound quality, this is the sound bar for you!! Cons: Though the sound quality is exceptionally good, it is lacking a punch.. yes it is the acoustic mass effect! And again it may not apply for the listener who does not like or give less importance to Bass.. for the bass lovers, add the Acoustimass 300 wireless bass module.. you will just love it .. Overall this sound bar with this add-ons is one of their best!

    I was expecting more.

I will start by saying I have never owned a Bose product before. My view of them was that they were a high end audio company that produced products for audiophiles. After getting this sound bar and hooking it up to my TV, I have to honestly say that I was expecting a lot more. Don't get me wrong, it sounds good...a million times better than my regular TV speakers, but I just thought I would have a lot more customization options. For example...there is no way to adjust the bass or treble settings, no EQ settings whatsoever. You are stuck listening to your audio at some predetermined EQ level that someone else chose for you and there is no way to adjust it. I, for one, prefer a little more bass and treble, but dropping the middle a bit. I cant do it. For the price of this thing, I would expect it to have tons of customization options so I could set the audio exactly how I like it. Everyones tastes are different, and a high end audio product should be able to adapt to that and change from user to user in order to get the best experience possible. I know some companies want to be in control of everything so they can create (in their opinion) the best experience possible for the end user and don't allow any customization options. In my opinion, thats a BIG mistake. With all of that said, this is a very high quality product, the build seems very solid and they obviously put a lot of time and money into the design of this product. I think it would be great for using with a TV in your average household to be a step up from your TV speakers. Its also a bonus that you can use it as a bluetooth speaker and connect your phone or computer to it and use it that way. But as I said before, there is no customization options, so you are stuck with (in my opinion) lackluster audio quality and tone. When I hooked it up to my computer and used a program to tweak the EQ settings of the audio going into this thing, I was able to get it to sound really good. I guess to summarize, I feel that if you are looking for an all-in-one device that you can use for your TV and music and be the center of your family room, this would be an OK option as long as you can live with the shortcomings. I think with some software and firmware updates this thing could be amazing, but the way it is right now, it just leaves a bit to be desired from me. I also think for what you get the price point is a bit too high. I think another $100-$200 cheaper would be more in line with getting what you pay for. (and yes, I do own the subwoofer as well, but thats all in a different review)

My initial reaction to the sound coming from this Bose sound bar was WOW followed by amazing. I have never heard such vivid live sounds from a home theater system. Since listening to this system it would be virtually impossible to go back to anything else. When watching movies you can hear the faintest of sounds suck as keys going into a door and crickets chirping as if you were there. Words can't do this Bose sound bar justice. It's a must have for any home entertainment system.

I just purchased the Sony XBR900e along with the Definitive Technology W Studio Soundbar and quickly realized that it was not a match made in heaven. The DefTechs unfortunately did not live up to their reputation, with the sound quality almost mimicking the actual television's built-in-speakers. I went back to the store and attempted to exchange it for a Klipsch set, but was persuaded by a an extremely knowledgable and courteous associate named HILTON to listen to the Bose system instead. He took me over to the Bose SoundTouch® 300 soundbar display and I was completely blown away. I changed my decision and exchanged the DefTechs for the Bose. After setting it up that night and watching an entire movie, I am truly satisfied with this purchase. Even though I didn't purchase the wireless rear speakers, it sounded like sounds where coming from different directions in the room. It was much easier to set up and the sound was clear and made me feel like I almost had a complete 5.1 surround sound system.

I was highly impressed with the quality of the Bose Soundtouch 300. The setup was very easy and the directions on how to calibrate the sound itself was very intuitive. I found the initial setup to be more advanced than other systems I have used which seemed to enhance of the overall quality of the sound bar. The sound of the Soundtouch is very premium and reaches a good range of highs and lows and projects the sound well so you have a really enjoyable listening experience. I was also impressed with its ability to stream music (very important to me). The sound was superb and I didn’t have any issues with losing connection or poor range. I have struggled in the past with not having good range on my previous sound bar so this was a major plus. Another factor that was nice was the fact that it had a universal remote. It was able to control not only the Soundbar but our TV and cable box as well. This is a huge plus as we have far too many remotes that tend to get lost. I would highly recommend this Soundbar as it has really amazing sound, range and is top quality.

I purchased the Bose Soundtouch 300 last week and got it connected over the weekend. After only a few days of use I am blown away with the sound quality of the sound bar and the the Virtually Invisible® 300 wireless surround speakers connected to the sound bar. I was using the Bose Solo 5 sound bar prior to the new set-up and it is night & day difference in sound quality. This sound bar combined with the small speakers produces some of the best overall surround sound you will find for movies & TV. I have been looking at different types / brands of sound bars for the past couple of months and I could not be happier with the this purchase. I can't wait to add the Acoustimass® 300 wireless bass module to this setup. Even though this sound bar is not cheap, in my opinion, it is well worth the money if you enjoy full rich sound from every corner of your room. I think it is money well spent!

I have used Samsung, Sony, and other top notch sounders, but Bose sound-touch 300 is one of best sound bar in the market. It gives you crisp and clean sound with little bass. Compare with other sound bars, this has pretty good bass, In others you will hear tweeters and may be 20% of mid in sound bars without subwoofer. you can buy other company's whole home theater in same price of only Bose sound bar but, When you listen the sound on this soundtouch , you will love it. It is wifi, bluetooth and 4K hdmi connector with tv. It has universal remote control, you can control tv from one remote. you can connect through wifi with your smartphone and listen the music on it. I bought from best buy and sales person in waterloo IA was terrific helper. one thing more if you will just buy sound bar, you can add later wireless Bose subwoofer and two wireless speaker later.

    Awesome Bluetooth Sound!!

My first impression is that SoundTouch 300 has awesome sound.....of course it is a Bose. The SoundTouch 300 pairs well with all my Bluetooth device (iPhone 6S, Samsung Tab4 and Samsung S6). The sound quality is what I expected to hear from this sound bar. Calibrating the sound bar to my living was an added great feature. I can hear all the background noise as if I'm in the theater. This was not funny, but, I was watching a horror movie and my neighbors thought I was in trouble and knocked on my door to see if I was ok. I told the neighbors that I was trying out my new sound bar by Bose. That tells you the quality of the sound this sound bar produces. The SoundTouch is great for watching NFL and college football games. I listen to my music as well through SoundTouch. I watch a Justin Timberlake concert and you felt like you were at the concert in your living room. The Bose app on your phone can be tricky to pair but I eventually got it to work. The size of the SoundTouch is a bit bigger than the average sound bar on the market, but for power and sound this produces I think it’s worth the size.

I previously had a decent Samsung soundbar before this one. It worked well, but would occasionally (very rarely) cut out, and it never was totally crisp/clear. Enter this Bose soundbar - it is amazing! Watch cable news? It is like the reporters are talking to you in the same room. Absolutely amazing crisp sound. I highly recommend this soundbar.

We've got this bar at the beginning of September 2017 after a long research due to its design and after navigating thru initial issues with TV connectivity and random power offs and (not) switching inputs using the IOS app we got it to work. Excellent sound and design. Except two days ago we found it completely dead with a power supply failure. Best Buy replaced it because we had the extended warranty but was not sure Bose would allow them to do it again next time. Looking at BOSE forums it appears that the power issue is not a single instance that happened to me but to others as well. I'm terrified now that the replacement will fail after the warranty expires.. Bose are you listening? time to revisit the power supply design for this bar?

After trying numerous sound bars for my projector I ended up with the Bose Sound Touch 300, & the Bose bass module. The setup process wasn't as easy; took me a while to activate & setup wireless connectivity. The app could be a little better but where this thing shines it's in the sound. Holly Molly what a difference. You'll be paying a premium for any Bose product but you have to realize that if you have an issue you'll get help from someone in the U.S. I really don't trust the fact that TV companies are in the business of making sound products, Bose have been around for years and despite of what people say about them they have excellent customer service.

I have always been amazed with Bose products but never could afford them. With my recent purchase of a new TV I loved the picture but the sound was OK. I first purchased a sound bar to brand match my TV but not happy with the sound. I then looked at the Bose sound touch 300 and never looked back. After hooking up the Bose, I was in awe at all the new sounds coming from the TV. Things I was missing. This bar was amazing !!!! Sweetness to my ears. You have to buy this Bose Sound Touch 300------you will not regret it. Oh I went and bought the Acoustimass 300 later. These 2 products are AMAZING. Every time I turn up the sound, I am in AWE.
