I have a 12 Honda Civic, the reason for upgrading the sound system is because I wanted an CarPlay + better sound experience with stock speakers. At first, I was impressed but later as days of usage, I was getting disappointed with the Boss Audio System. First, the audio quality is just worse than originally thought and completely awful then stock audio system. From bass to high's, it sounds distorted at mid volume. Especially the bass is not bringing out the punch but instead it increases more of low bass. I have tried played around with different settings like turning on loudness setting, adjecting the eq, playing different genres of music but nothing seems to improve. The way I experiencing the sound is that the bass is playing behind or more of backend bass instead of upfront punchy bass. The soundstage which is flatter. The high's is somewhat of distorted, even decreasing the high's eq. It sounds little better when connected to CarPlay but not much difference. Secondly, the capacitive touchscreen not very responsive. I have to press down bit of pressure on CarPlay and main OS. The screen quality is decent, it's not the crisp but it looks decent. The screen brightness is bit of a problem, at nighttime screen is much brighter at lowest setting. Regarding to this audio unit, I have spoken with car audio expert, they said that for my car, it has a much better preamp output voltage & 20W RMS but I don't know why it sound legitely worse than stock unit. For anyone reading this review, please sure to do your proper research before making the purchase.

Could not be happier we purchased this to help upgrade our daughter's older vehicle and it looks great and it is easy to use the screen can be moved up or down and it also pans left right and around anyway you need it to face it was a great addition it also is a detachable screen by pressing two buttons it'll come right off we included the backup camera which is crystal clear and works great we are Android users and the Android auto play loaded easily and we added apps quickly we used Waze for navigation which was awesome connected to phone connected to Bluetooth everything worked great very happy

Happy with my purchase, my car is 10 years old but low mileage and I just needed a car radio and gps system that was updated. I can connect phone to USB or use Bluetooth. Installation was included and although there was a waitlist for appointment, it went smoothly and tech did great job. The website was able to confirm if it was compatible with my car and showed me what other materials were needed for installation.

Love it. It works well even when i forget to put the faceplate on. Just wish it sat more into my dash.

This is a good head unit. easy to use, great sound and power. Love that it has Android Auto and works with my vehicle. It even allows the rear seat unit to listen to a different station than the front while on head phones. Definitely recommend. Be sure that you realize this unit does not mount into the dash, it sits out from it on a gimble allowing it to angle towards the driver.

This head unit is great. I had it installed in a 1997 Jeep Cherokee, so it definitely stands out. The screen swivels, not much, but enough to make it useful for maps. The Bluetooth has never failed me, never dropped or skipped. IT does NOT have wireless Apple CarPlay, but is wired, which I argue is better because you charge your phone on those long trips. I'd argue this is a good alternative to those nearly $1000 units.

I’ve had this installed in my car for almost three years and it works perfectly. My car was too old for the dealership to update the built in system and wanted to charge me triple what I paid here to replace the head unit.

I have been looking online for carplay models for a while. After spending so much time watching videos, doing comparisons... Finally, I decided to get this product from boss. The price point and the brand were what convinced me to buy. I have bought another boss stereo before and it has been working well for over 3 years. Their stereos are top-level but at a very affordable price. This is a total game-changer because for so many years, having a single din in my old 2003 truck has been a pain as there were not so many options for me to choose from in the market. And I know carplay can be so convient. And finally! Here is boss and it's such a beautiful product. I've installed in my truck the first night I received the package and I totally love it!

Needed a CarPlay radio to fit a single-DIN slot on an old X3. Was looking for a Pioneer or Kenwood option as I've had good luck with them in the past, but the motorized flip up screen from Pioneer was a lot more $ and would have blocked A/C vents. Was leary about buying a "Boss" receiver, but am very glad I did. Audio quality is great, functionality works perfect, screen is high quality, controls are simple to use, and the mounting was flexible to not block A/C vents or other controls. Great purchase so far.

Best Christmas present I've given, my new teenage, driving son! Everything is in eye view, hands free. He loves that Siri reads his text messages to him. His Phone doesn't have to get touched, while driving at all. Looks great in his coupe. Also attached a reverse camera, picture is clear and lines can be seen well. The best buys installation was great, had no issues guys were phenomenal. Not bad for a mid grade device.

Carplay works great with my iPhone. I like the screen itself. The resolution is surprisingly great considering the price. Installment overall was smooth and all instructions were provided in the user manual. I love the button at the bottom since my 9-year-old Volkswagen doesn't have steering wheel control. So it's much easier to use the button for volume control. It has been a great investment of buying this stereo.

The standard price for this unit is higher than the nine-inch version so I waited for a sale. The seven inch screen was just the right size I wanted for my Wrangler. Installation was straight forward once I soldered all the adapter wires to the head unit bundle. The Apple CarPlay hard-wired connection works flawlessly. The unit has lots of features including illumination controls for night driving.

So let me start off with the cons. The screen brightness is absurd at night time and the maps during the daytime (on Android Auto at least) are like looking through a blizzard (white on white on white on white on white). That being said... I got Android Auto, subwoofer output, camera input and a decent amp to power my factory speakers (really woke up the sound system in my old Kia) for under $300 installed. That's hard to beat. It's very usable and I am very fond of having an adjustable screen.

It is a nice reasonably inexpensive radio that works well and has nice sound and for the most part good features. I gave it four stars because its bluetooth does not allow you to hook to a phone for phone service and to another device Isuch as siriusxm) for streaming. If I want to have the phone available and listen to siriusxm I have to bluetooth the phone and use the fm function on the sirius tuner with a fm adaptor. Also, the radio does not have an auxiliary input which is a downside for me. I would rather have the auxiliary input than the video input. Also, using Apple CarPlay precludes the use of the bluetooth capability totally. The phone service is in CarPlay and you can use things like SiriusXM through CarPlay as long as the phone has internet connection. Overall, I like the radio and don't regret buying it.

I have been looking to purchase a car stereo that was Apple CarPlay compatible for quite some time now and I couldn’t be happier to have chosen this one. The sound quality is just as good as my car’s original sound system. Being able to use Apple Maps without having to hook my phone up to a car mount is such a plus, especially as someone who relies on directions pretty frequently. Replying to texts, answering calls, and playing music is a much more seamless process than it was with my car’s original sound system. Overall really happy with this purchase.

I have a 2014 Sentra which did not have BT. After years of using the AUX cord to play my music, I decided to finally upgrade. I am so happy that I went with the Boss Audio Carplay. I love the floating screen and the unit connects to my phone as soon as I start my car. It is extremely easy to install and I couldn't be more satisfied with the value for what I paid!

Mission accomplished. I had an old 96 Bronco and wanted to modernize. Old radio came out, this went in, and suddenly I'm enjoying Carplay with my iOS devices and getting navigation on Waze. Is it the brightest? No. Is it seamless? No. Am I completely satisfied for the price? Yep.

Works great for what it is but when it’s cold out it glitches sometimes I really don’t like if you leave the Bluetooth on it want to keep to connecting to other phones
