My appreciation for B&W started with an open box sub I purchased a couple years ago. Once I realized what real sound was, it was time to start replacing my system one piece at a time. I did listen to other centers, but the full range on this speaker spoke to me.
It's large, and did fit in my cabinet, but it sounds better when used as a base for my TV. It's so large that my TV sits on top of it and the footprint of the TV stand is the same size as the speaker.
I cannot speak highly enough about this center. Do take the time to listen to it in store, and REALLY let it break in before expecting the true potential to come out. Day one it was a little flat and my review would have been different. We had family over for Christmas and I put a Frank Sinatra record on. Everyone paused for a second... then grandma says "it sounds like he is in the room". It's an emotional moment when your soundstage comes to life. Don't go cheap on your center.... my only regret is not saving longer to step up to the 700 series. Same size, better speakers.

This was a vast upgrade for my system and matches nicely with my earlier generation 683s. Much clearer than the first two versions of the HTM61/B and conceptually more sound. Ability to Bi-Amp interesting, though mostly unused for many, I'd imagine.
Only draw to this is the size. While this could easily handle even a plasma on top of it, because of the height, you will have to adjust the way you've been watching if you do so -- not recommended anyway. Or you have to get the "right" tv stand setup so you can maintain things. I'd be afraid to mount this above as this is MASSIVE (please look at dimensions before buying without seeing it in-store). So you really have to plan out your space. This isn't a FPM-style unit that you tuck in the wall (which, btw, doesn't match very well with the 6 series), so you will have a block that looks like half a 683/684 on its side. But when you look at what speakers and at what size, you'll easily understand the size. This is the no-compromise way of getting you a good center. Those with space concerns should go down to the HTM62 and learn to live with less -- or get a single 685 as some have (but looks odd). And if you ever start to upgrade along the B&W lines, you'll note how large the centers can be.
That said, the clarity of sound is great. And I would highly recommend even for those who are SACD multichannel fans. Really gives the 6 series the center channel it deserves, regardless of which generation you have.
Would be a 5 star if they magically found a way to make this same quality product smaller and cheaper.

Easy to install. Make sure you have sufficient space to install it.
I am using this center speaker with the B&W 685 front speakers. No need to add additional to enjoy amazing sound.

Codey at Gilroy has put up with my many visits picking my system. I am very happy. He even let me bring back my center to double check it worked well....my problem turned out to be the dig audio from TV that codey predicted. I will be buying all my home theater equipment from Codey

This speaker delivers as I would expect from Bowers and Wilkins. Crisp clear highs with deep low end bass without distortion. The speaker comes alive after several hours of initial use. It sounded phenomenal out of the box and continues to amaze me. The speaker is quite heavy, so be sure to have a sturdy TV stand.

I had a 15 year old Sonus Faber speaker which I retired to a different property. When I heard the B&W for the first time I was astounded at the difference. Remarkable!

If you have the room to add this speaker to you're theater, I recommend you do so. It is large but it puts out amazing sound. You need 8 1/2 inches in height and 23 1/2 inches wide for this speaker to clear. If you're debating on either the Htm61 or the Htm62, go with the 61.

This replaced my Boston Acoustic 2-way center speaker. It is much more compact and sounds terrific for both video and music.

I had the previous model and found the dialogue muddy sounding so I returned it. I used a 685 bookshelf for the center channel until the new model 685 S2 was available with the new tweeter technology and other improvements. purchased the 685 S2 and was real happy with the sound so I also bought the HTM61 S2, that's the sound I was expecting from the previous model 61 that I returned. Crisp articulate clean sound. Play it full range or cross it over at 60HZ-80HZ. Plays loud and clean, very happy with my purchase.

This is a very large center channel speaker and you need plenty of space to accommodate it. If you have the space, this is the center channel for you! Bowers is the Best!

Nice quality center channel speaker. I'm actually using it with B&W 606s and 607s. I had it originally with 685 S2s and 686 S2s (the actually matching bookshelves), but I liked the sound of the 606/607 series speakers better for their livelier character in home theater. This model has been discontinued, but if you can find one, I definitely recommend it. The build quality is excellent, and it has a nice clear but laid-back sound with no blaring glare.

We had the matching front speakers to this, and when we saw the center channel on open box, we grabbed it. We can't believe the difference. We can finally make out the muffled voices in movies. We had what we thought was a pretty decent center channel before, but after hearing this one, I felt guilty selling it. I felt like it should have gone in the trash. Had NO IDEA a center channel this good could make such a difference! Definitely worth the money.
