It is a fine product. I am not convinced that the quality will hold up for 5 years, but it is good for what it is

Garbage Warranty, Trash Service

Dead after 30 days, hasn’t been seen for 6 weeks. There is only one warranty repair shop you can send B&W products to for warranty repairs (United Radio) and they are absolute trash. They said it would take “7-10 days to receive parts,” but 6 weeks later, still waiting for parts. I had to pay for shipping to them for repair because that’s not covered by the warranty. I have three ASW610 subwoofers with zero problems, but the one that costs 3x more and requires an app is garbage.

Make no mistake, this sub sounds great. A nice feature is that you can dial in the EQ for music or movies on the app. I ended up returning it because it wasn’t enough of an upgrade over my SVS SB-2000.

The one I got didn't work. I spent 5 hours trying everything I could think of with no success. The app sucks. No controls on the back so, you have to use the app. I returned it and got the Definitive Technology 10".

These Subwoofer has been a problem from the day I brought them. the last one I had replaced was in the form of in-store gift card. Now I have to return the woofer to B&W myself. Not happy about that.

Needs a special XLR cable that I had to buy myself separate. Nothing worked on the sub. Nothing, no sound. B&W online support was very lacking. Expected better from Best Buy on this.

we were looking for a sub base that would work for both theater and audio. It didnt do it. there was no seperation. For the cost, one would like more clearity.

I made the mistake of buying two of these subwoofers. First let me say this whole application to control it is absolutely atrocious. If the subwoofer had a knob on it like all the others do I would not be giving it a one-star review. Instead I'm stuck with a subwoofer that I constantly need to change the settings on because the settings do not stick through the app. To be clear I bought two of these subwoofers. The first one works fine and the settings stay with no issues. The second one on the other hand constantly resets back to the default settings. Do yourself a favor and do not buy this product. Bowers & Wilkins chose to do some high-tech garbage instead of just keeping things simple and sticking to sound quality. Now I am stuck with $3,000 worth of subwoofers that are subpar in quality. I should have bought Svs.

Brand response from Bowers & Wilkins Team

Hi Jason,
We apologize for your experience. A software enhancement was made well over a year ago that addressed settings not being saved by the subwoofer. Your experience sounds like one of the subwoofers had the software update will the other did not due to different manufacturing dates. Updating the second unit would address your issue and give the same functionality to both products. As with any modern product that uses software, we always recommend updating software before use.

I was in the business decades ago, My more classic training still guides me today on home audio. (Simple test, check the weight on everything you buy in audio...heavier nearly always tells you something) It had been a while, but I recently rebuilt a home theater system, This B&W Sub - worth every penny. Buy it and you wont be disappointed if set up correctly. Ive been astounded by the quality and sound for both music and movies. Tight, low and powerful.

I purchased this speaker to run with my 600-series speakers. It was a little bit of a pain to set up since you had to download a special app, but I was able to get it tuned to the room. The sound was excellent and filled the room, especially for movies (main focus for my sound system).
Shortly after the 2-year mark, there started being a pop sound when the amp powered off. After a couple months of this, it went to a white noise with no other output. I worked with B&W support to troubleshoot the problem and after a month or so of trying different solutions (all via email), I was never successful in getting the amp to work.
Because the powered subwoofer started having problems outside of the 2-year warranty, they (tech support) would not provide any warranty coverage. Additionally, there were no repair facilities in Alaska and I would have to ship it out of state, receive a quote and then decide to repair and pay to ship back.
All of this was frustrating and I went back to my old subwoofer from Cambridge.
