Not well designed - has issues

Poorly designed user experience: The display is upside down! The designer of the device apparently thinks that 12V cig lighter port would be to the left of the driver. But unless you are in the UK or Hong Kong, 12V ports are to the right of the driver. So when the device is plugged in, you have to read the display upside down. See attached picture. Poor quality output. The levels coming from the device are considerably less than say, the nearby radio stations on the dial would be. So if you change away from the FM transmitter to a regular station, be prepare to be blasted out of your seat. Low charging output. The trend of including two USB ports on 12V chargers even though the combined amperage is only 2A is also just stupid. An iPhone needs 2Amps to charge. So what is the purpose of the second port if it can't supply the juice? Oh, and one other thing, the display LED started failing about 6 months after I got the unit. It doesn't display the first digit of any 3 digit radio station frequency. Of course, I know that the first digit will either be 1 or nothing, but still, I assume that the rest of the LED indicators will fail soon. All in all, these is just a cheap, poorly made Chinese product. P.S. If you think the station I've got the device tuned to is 85.0, you would be wrong. It's set to 105.8.

      Thank you for your review.
You can turn the FM Transmitter around, allowing you to have the display facing up. For best sound, we recommend turning the volume up on your device and then matching the sound on your radio, this will help when you switch over to normal radio. If you charge one device, it will charge your smartphone. Otherwise, you can charge two devices, it will just be at a slower pace. We offer a great warranty on our products. Please feel free to contact tech@bracketron.com, one of our representatives would be happy to help you with a replacement.

I needed a different option to listen to music from my phone in my old car apart from a hard wired connection through those old cassette tape adapters or the strange hybrid of a blutooth cassette adapter that needed to be charged ever other day to use...so I took a chance on this and apart from the occasional fuzzy signal due to tunnels and airports, it's exactly what I needed. It has a mic built in which I've tried a few times but have been told it can sound a little muffled. And if I wanted to hook up my old iPod or mp3 player (for whatever reason) which don't have a blutooth adapter built in, the device has an option to hardwire it in with a 3.5mm cable included. All in all, no regrets on this purchase.

Bought it open-boxed ($10 cheaper). No problems. Let’s me play my music from my phone like intended but the sound isn’t as powerful/loud as my actual car stereo plays music even with my phone volume and car volume at max. Probably loud enough for most people though. I just like to listen to my music really loud sometimes, especially on noisy highways. But still happy with it for now until I upgrade my stereo.

I got this to easily replace the 3.5mm radio transmitter I had. I have an iPhone 7, so no headphone jack, and the lightning adapter was causing weird issues with other things. It's easy to use, once you read the manual a bit, and does pretty good. There are times when the audio seems to suddenly fill in, or become more full, and it makes me wonder what it's doing the rest of the time. Honestly thinking of going back to a physical connection transmitter.

I have an older car that doesn't have a hands-free option so this is perfect and it has two usb slots to charge two phones or devices. I have to have the radio turned up pretty high to hear clearly but small issue for the cost. I haven't had any issues with anyone hearing me on their end.

Good transmitter but low quality of sound, it has fast response blue tooth connection and has the ability to talk from you cellphone hand free. but like I say not so good with the sound quality, it plays kinda low through the speakers for some reason. But every other option is a thumbs up

Sound was muffled vs stereo sound. Also there was a fair amount of static at various times, seemed to be related to radio station reception. Not good for travelling across the west which is why we bought it.

Hi there, hope we can help! To provide your transmitter the best signal possible, be sure the media volume is all the way up on your phone. This should improve signal clarity. Secondly, if you drive far enough, you are bound to encounter a regional station broadcasting on the same frequency. Simply hold the red "end call" button until it blinks and then adjust the station frequency. It should set at the new selection after a second. The least used bandwidths are typically located at either end of the FM spectrum. If we can help in any way, please don't hesitate to reach out to tech@bracketron.com! My old fm transmitter finally started going out after a few years of use. What killed the old one was having to unplug it and plug it back in as my car doesn’t power down the cigarette lighter plug. The Bracketron is one of the few that has an on off button and it’s amazing to not have to unplug all the time. It’s only downfall is the sound quality isn’t as good as some of the other ones and the buttons aren’t as easy to use.

This is the second type of Bluetooth device I have purchased. I chose it because it was compact. The sound quality is not great. You have to keep the sound low to keep it from being static filled.

Doesn’t provide optimal sound unless tuned in to the perfect station with no interference from other stations. Otherwise there is a large amount of static that makes listening unbearable.

Hi! We appreciate you taking the step of troubleshooting from other reviews! While we would be happy to send you a replacement if your device is defective, we first suggest trying another radio bandwidth to see if there is interference on that end. (Hold red button until it flashes, then adjust with +/-). Another source of potential static is using the rear defrost at the same time on cars that integrate their antenna there. If neither of those approaches fix the issue, please contact tech@bracketron.com for assistance. Thanks, Bracketron Support Bracketron

The converter works pretty good with both BlueTooth and hardwired (headphone jack). My car only has an AM/FM receiver and a CD player so I couldn't use a cassette adapter to play music from my iPod (2nd gen). This device is a low cost solution but doesn't sound as crisp and clear as true 'hardwired' solution like a direct cable or cassette adapter. If you're looking for a low cost solution this adapter will meet that need along with more connection options.
