The machine is noisy, and it's a miss sometimes, the coffee grinder stops in time, and sometimes it just keeps dispensing making a mess. The espresso gauge will not work until parts have to be removed and changed. It's just a bit complicated. I would not repurchase it.

Great, except the grinder often gets clogged and requires a cleaning by my shop vac.

I can not say perfect but it is a good machine. Steaming takes 1min to work and not powerful enough. It’s been 2months since I purchased this Espresso machine and espresso not that hot and not brewing in right pressure every time. INTERESTING!! Keep wasting my expensive coffee beans.

Not recommended at all is not easy to use. The water pressure is not a working right .,You have always to adjusting things ☹️
It is true that espresso is a matter of constantly making adjustments to get a good shot. Please make sure the machine has been properly descaled. Then, you can run the pressure test:

Coffee maker did not work out of the box. Called customer support like it suggests but they were having technical difficulties and then the call hung up. Will return to Best Buy for one that works or for the money as this was not cheap.

Was thrilled for the almost 30 days until it stopped giving me grounds. Followed instructions, nothing. Grinder is clean, everything is clean. No grounds, they just stick in the grinder compartment. Bought warranty. Want refund. 30 days just isn’t going to work. Let’s see what Best Buy does to make it right.

It did not work when we bought it. The pressure machine was not working. For such an expensive product it should have worked. We were also disappointed we could not make coffee. It was only an espresso maker.

Bought in November. By January it was shot, 8 days after the return period it's no longer building pressure. $800 junk.

I reviewed/utube'd many Espresso models for 5 months and finally selected the Breville BES870xl. I purchased mine in Jan 2015 and let me tell you...this is truly a top notch espresso machine. My advise- follow the directions for "machine preparation/flushing the machine" when it arrives and read through the short manual. Some reviews I read questioned things/situations that were actually explained/resolved in the manual. With that said, take care of your machine & it will take care of you! If you have concerns or questions not in the manual, Breville's customer support is really helpful and sincere about it.
Tips: - placing your stainless steel milk jug in the freezer helps drop the temperature of whatever milk you choose even more, to aid you in "working the milk," with your steam wand (I learned from Breville's customer support)
- I am no expert Barista but I have now learned from careful study that "pulling the perfect shot of espresso" requires FIRST adequate DOSE of ground espresso beans in your portafilter. Focus on the dose THEN proceed to adjusting the grind. If you follow that you will guarantee reaching the "ideal espresso zone" on the Breville's espresso pressure gauge.
- I used Illy medium roast espresso beans when I first received the machine. Currently, I'm using Lavazza Super Crema beans (my current favorite!!) grind set at 5/grind amount set at 3/sometimes 4, using the (single walled) double shot basket.
I make 3-4 lattes per week and make my husband a Long Black (2oz of espresso poured into 4-8oz of water/makes different consistency than the Americano) on the weekends. I use almond milk and was able to make latte art for my first time today...still learning.
I LOVE this machine !!!!! :-) If you are torn between another model, choose this one...you will absolutely be satisfied!!
