Customers regard the gameplay as repetitive and lacking a compelling storyline. They also criticize the graphics and the uninspired progression system for acquiring new weapons and armor. The impact of choosing a side in the game is also questioned. While some find it playable, overall the game is viewed as underwhelming.

Brink is a challenging action game that puts the player on a team with specialists who must achieve objectives within a specified time. There is constant activity that requires you to make decisions to help your team win. I have played offline so far and enjoy it. Brink does support online play as well.

The only thing good about this game is the customization.

Nobody really bought the game, so there isn't much of an audience to play against at this point.

The premise of the game seems interesting. You choose whether you want to flee the dying city or save it. However, choosing a side really has no bearing on gameplay.
Most campaign missions involve either destroying or protecting something (sometimes a mixture of both). If the rebel side needs to destroy something, the opposite side (the Security Force) must protect it. While it's interesting to see a mission from the opposite side, the gameplay does not change. You will always be either destroying or guarding something, shooting down all enemies around your goal.
While cutscenes bring you back to the story, the levels themselves do not really contribute to the overall story. You're given a bit of cinematic, have to do some mindless mowdown of enemies, then you get rewarded with another cinematic. Maybe it would've been better if dialogue during missions (little as it is) wasn't drowned out by gunfire and calls for a medic. This may have been bearable if co-op was not just limited to online players.
Luckily I bought this game used. The game took nearly 5 hours to complete the Rebel side and I have yet to have any interest in finishing the Security Force missions. The customizations to your character are nice, though. Powerups are bought according to your playing preference and physical appearance choices can be hilariously ridiculous.
Overall, not terrible, but it's not the type of shooter that I would keep coming back to.

An Updated Team Fortress-Style hit by Bethesda
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Brink is essentially an updated form of Team Fortress by the iconic developer Bethesda. Some people tend to base a game solely on the campaign and AI. The campaign is very easy. This is actually a benefit, as the campaign in Brink was designed to help you get used to the system. It was primarily designed in order to give the player enough XP and level-ups before entering multi-player.
Multiplayer, on the other hand, is very challenging. You are up against other players which react faster, push for objectives more, and are willing to win. This is where teamwork comes in hand, having to utilize every class in order to complete your objective, victory over the other team.
The fully customizable weapon system is a very nice attachment in this game. Add certain attachments to guns to improve accuracy, reload speed, aiming, etc. The fully customizable appearance system adds even more customization to your character.
If you are a fan of Team Fortress 2, challenging team play, objective based games, and a very fun game, Brink is a great game to buy.

High expectations....

This game was a complete letdown. I was hoping for smart A.I. for at least the opposition but no they just pick a spot, stand, and shoot. The customization is nice but working your way up the ladder to get new weapons and armor is a complete bore. Was hoping for something like Borderlands but better but all of the missions are practically the same and finding a good team that are diverse is not to be seen. This is a game where you need one of each class in a group to play well but half the time you will not be able to find that online and this is not the greatest single player game. The storyline is almost non existent and the guns just plain suck. Expected much more from this group but got nothing more than wasted gas and money.

It didn't quite meet my expectations at first but as I learned how the works I grew to love it. Soloing is really enjoyable, it isn't super difficult depending on what difficulty you are playing but still easy enough to keep it from feeling impossible.
Online is SOOOO much fun! You always feel like your doing something important, there's no camping because its impossible, and always fun even when you lose!

Average game, kind of confusing story-play

Not that great of a game, but worth 5 bucks, it's hard to find hours of entertainment for 5 bucks so I think it was worth the price. There isn't anything that really stands out about the game, and whether you are on one side or the other, the game is pretty much the same. No distinction in characters between security or revolution side. C- , pass, but not a lot of effort went into the game or storyline and it shows in just being a average game.

Nice Shooting For Fun

This is great to have fun once you learn how to control your charters and fulfill objectives. if you are good at shooting while running, this will be your A+++ game. The good thing is you can't be killed with 2 bullets hitting, so don't worry, if you are newbie at game, and you can enjoy at playing online with others hard-core. You will have fun. I think, you have to be hit for 3 bullets to be kill I guess. If you are hard-core gamers, you will sure like how to achieves your objectives. Normally I can't stand playing too much for shooting games like MW2. But this game got me passing my times so quick. Additionally, you can play any role in game ( Medic, Engineer, Tank, and others). So what are you waiting for, get this one and have fun. Oh BTW, the online stat of your charters can be view later as they announce in game, but their website is not build yet. This will be like WOW Armory stat :) So you can share with your friends how you have nice gears on your charters.

Awesome graphics and physics, great coop play. Another home-run from Bethesda. Just recently completed Fallout New Vegas, before that Fallout 3. Just getting started but very clearly this is will be a top-10 game of all time for xbox 360.

I was fortunate enough to play this game at launch and realized that this game was going to be great... but then the players dropped off and just like battlefield 2 for Xbox there was no one on the servers. There is a game out now that reminds me of this game and it is called "Battleborn."
