    Great printer

I bought this printer for my wife and I to use for graduate school and it works great. The wireless set-up was simple and allowed us to put the printer where it benefits us the most, with no wires or cables attached. The toner is reasonably priced and so was the printer at $99. If you need a monochrome laser printer I think this is an excellent choice for the cost.

I have an iMac and PC at home and needed a wireless printer. For the price this is unbeatable. For 99% of our needs B&W was all we needed. The wireless setup was seamless and easy. The installer and instructions that came with the product were the best I have ever seen.

Bought this printer becase I need a Vista compatible printer, and got a lot more than I expected! This printer is compatibale with Win2K, Win 2K3 Server, XP, and Vista. It has USB, Wireless and Wired network connections. When fully set up through it's web interface, it will even send you an email if there is a problem! Highly recommended.

Actual purchase price = printer + toner refill

While the printer serves exactly the function I needed (B&W laser, decent speed for the price, etc.), I was more than a little miffed to discover that after about a week of light use, the toner was dry. If you've ever shopped for toner refills before, you know this isn't a cheap expense. When we called the store, they said that "yeah... some printers only include enough toner to give you a 'taste'). When shopping for a printer, budget in the cost of a toner cartridge when making your comparison. If I had known this in advance, I would have purchased a different printer.

Used a network cable to set up the wireless function and everything went smooth. Works with three different computers from rooms all over a two story house. Very quick from sleep mode to first page print. My experience with Brother printers in the past tells me that I must use Brother Toner or the quality will start to decline quickly. Reloads, and generics will ruin your printer. I have a 5 year old Brother multi-function printer that needs a new drum. I just use the MFC for faxing and bought this wonderful printer on sale for less than the price of a drum.

Contrary to published reports, setup of the wireless connection was effortless. In fact, the entire procedure from opening the box to prinitng a report took less than 10 minutes. Follow the instructions, take your time, and enjoy this printer ~ it's GREAT !

I would definitely tell everyone who asked to buy this printer. Wi-Fi is easy to set up and the printer is very fast. It does come with a starter toner cartridge but what printer doesn't. Plus the replacement toner is reasonable and they carry it in the store.

Works great over wireless and is located two rooms from the router. First page print from cold/powered down is less then 30sec. Have had this for about two months and it has worked great.

    Excellent inexpensive wireless laser printer

I bought this printer because I was tired of buying cartridges for the inkjet printer what seemed like every month. I have not had this printer long enough to evaluate how long the toner will last but it has already exceeded the printing that my old inkjet would have done on one cartridge. This is also my first wi-fi printer and it is amazing. It was very easy to setup using a cable to first connect it to the router then unplugging it after setup was complete. The only complaints I have are that envelopes come out a little wrinkled unless you use the rear exit to prevent it from folding and autoduplexing would be nice but I realize that is usually only a feature on more expensive models. All in all it is an excellent printer and has worked quite well so far, hopefully it will continue to please.

Just bought the brother 2170w today. Great price ( 99.99 on sale) had some reward coupons so that made it even cheaper. Setup is simple. If you know basic wireless setup ertc then its easy as can be. i would guess non wireless is even easier. Best setup option is as mentioned before...use the temporary ether cable to your router, run through the setup. All you need to know are the usuals like the SSID, keys etc or if you have the later easy setup stuff for wireless that works too. I almost went with an HP p1006 or an HP P1505 but this little wonderful Brother model has them beat. Nice internal paper tray that does not make the footprint larger, plus wired and wireless networking included. A steal at 99.99.

    Awesome Laser Printer

The "Brother HL-2170W" laser printer is an awesome printer.. This is my first laser printer. In my home I have a comination of 6 personal computing devices, and all of them use the "Brother HL-2170W" . It was very simple to set up. It prints up to 23 pages a minute (and it has, I've tried it) The best part of it is that, whatever piece of equiptment that I'm using I can print whenever and wherever I am. I can move the "Brother HL-2170W" printer anywhere in or outside my home, on my patio, in my garage, etc. all without any wires (except the power cord of course) well you get the picture.. The "Brother HL-2170W" a great value and it does exactly what it says it can do... two thumbs up!

    Great Laserjet Printer

When I went to Windows 7 I found that my HP Laserjet wasn't compatible, so I shopped around for another Laserjet. I checked HP's, Canon, Xerox, and Brother. I decided on the Brother Laserjet due to it being cheaper and the toner cartridges are cheaper. I have had it for several months and it is working just fine.

    Easy wireless printing

Bought this one for home wireless so I wouldn't have to use a printer cable. Setup was a bit of a pain cause the printer drivers on the CD don't work. The only way to connect to the printer is via the IP address which can change each time the printer is turned on. Good for someone with experience using a computer. Not recommended for the ordinary home user.

    NICE PRINTER FOR THE PRICE

This printer is excellent for home use. For the price, this printer is great. I only recommend this for personal and home use. This may not be great for business. It is a little bit noisy even you are not printing, but I am not a heavy user. I turn the printer off when I am not printing, so that I don't have to hear the that noice that came from the printer. When I am ready to print, I turn the printer on.

I bought this because I needed a network printer and had no need for an all in one. I've had it for a day or two so I can not speak to the toner cartridge issue i've heard about, but I set it up with the driver software from brother.com. after installing the drivers on both my macs I plugged in the printer with ethernet cable went in system prefs and clicked the add button. 10 minutes total time to setup this printer on two macs, can not beat that. It's been working great, highly recommend this

    Brother Network-Ready Wireless Black-and-White Las

I decided to get this printer since I have 2 Vista laptops, and 2 Win XP desktops, all running on wireless adapters. I followed the instructions carefully, and temporarily plugged an ethernet cable from the router to the printer before the CD setup. The whole process took me about 10 minutes. Now we all have wireless printing capability, very cool. No need to buy or use a USB cable for this printer! Output quality is very good. I am extremely satisfied with this purchase.
