Best "bang for your buck" and pretty good quality

I am no techno-geek but know enough about tech to have wanted to invest in a laser all-in-one solution for my home office. My print rate is 5-10 pages per month at peak times - approx. 50% of which is my average. I wanted to get something that get me the most "bang" for my buck while trying to get the market average or above in terms of comparable more expensive products.
Background: I do not require super high quality printouts, neither do I intend to print photos/pictures. Most of my printouts are to ensure I am able to work with my non-digital counterparts who "need to have" a paper to work with (either by requirement or preference) and of-course my children's school (who insist on signed paper versions of their forms!).
The Brother surprised me from the moment of unpacking. Easy initial setup and WiFi hookup, Easy menu, Very wide variety of interconnectivity options (for e.g. you can connect your Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, iCloud, Evernote, etc. accounts; personally I can think of multiple ways to put this to use should I consider or need remote/network print capabilities!). Scan to email, Copy, etc. worked great. Using the related iOS app, I printed a fairly high res photo of a female celebrity's face directly from the internet - apart from the time taken to slowly spool the relatively large image, the printout itself was produced very quickly and the output was very impressive considering it's a black & white printer and the image details were pretty crisp from my expectations - good to know I can print B&W pics for convenience or any ideas that may pop-up!
Print output quality is very good for this printer. As I mentioned most of my printouts are documents which don't have to be hi-resolution (and print quality is dependent on the quality of document received!)
All in all would definitely recommend this to anyone. If this printer does not work out, and you have to get an alternate expense going; at least you will have a very very small amount of money to be considered as "lost money". None of the other complaints from other reviews have bothered me so nothing to taint my experience and not give this printer a 5/5 star rating...

The printer was very easy to setup; I made an error during setup and the printer connected to the wireless router anyway. I don't print a great number of pages; it has never failed to come out of sleep mode to deliver a copy even after more than a week. I chose the monochrome laser due to infrequent print jobs - very satisfied several months later.

After reading many reviews, I decided to get this printer. I found it was easy to setup and prints every time I tell it. Toner replacements aren't expensive and WAY cheaper than an ink jet (if you don't need color). I love it!

The Brother HL-L2380DW printer, scanner, copier works well wirelessly from my computer,iPhone, or iPad. The display screen at the front of the machine easily guides me through scanning, reducing or enlarging copies, adjusting density and number of copies. From anywhere in the house, I can wirelessly print an article or a coupon and the quality of the printed items is clear and crisp. The machine was easy to install and it's doing everything I need from letter and legal size sheets to envelopes.

This nice printer from Brother brings all the advantages of a laser printer at a very low cost and is impressive right out of the box. It's clear this is a monochrome printer--the documentation steers you toward ordinary bond paper and away from all the coated papers you might use with a photo printer. The print quality is quite readable. It's not as black as a good inkjet black. a very big plus is the ability to do double-sided printing without swapping paper around. Just specify double-sided output, queue the job and that's what you get. It's a little on the loud side: not terrible, but manageable.

This is my second Brother printer. Both have been outstanding. This one is faster and quieter. It is also more compact. The price for such a precision piece of equipment was amazingly low. A great buy!

I bought this based on the in-store discussion. It is a great printer for our home wireless network, easily reached by multiple computers. The print quality is very good and the speed is as advertised.
The half-star discontent is that after installing via USB cable (as recommended), there are two printers installed -- the USB version and the wireless version. If you get rid of the USB cable, as most would, it has set the cable version as default and the name looks almost exactly the same so hard to notice at first. In addition, the printer has to be reset a couple of times to keep communicating with other network devices. The install settings from the printer panel are not always the clearest depending on the issue.
Otherwise, it has performed just as advertised. I wish I would have switched from HP long ago.

If you don't want to print color this is a great printer. It's fast and is a home workhorse. Nice part is even the starter toner is going a long way.

The brother HL2480DW is an amazing printer that I recommend for any student or SOHO. It can obviously scan and print, but gives you the option to print from iOS and Android which is a time saver. What we use the most is scan to the cloud. It’s integrated with Google Drive, MS One Drive and Box which is registered to the individual with a passcode, and this printer allows you to print from the cloud as well. I’ve purchased 3 units so far not because of issues but because they are amazing units. Toner is inexpensive compared to HP and I really feel it’s getting your moneys worth compared to HP. It’s on sale for 100 with a comprable HP in the 160 range.

After using inkjet printers and getting frustrated at having to replace ink cartridges after only using my printer a few times, I finally decided to make the change to a laserjet. Yes, the upfront costs are cheaper for an inkjet, and that's how they got me when I was in college. However, inkjet cartridges dry up (rather rapidly) if you don't use the printer for long periods of time. I don't run a small office in my apartment so I only need to print a few pages every few months. A laserjet cartridge will cost you much more than a single inkjet cartridge, but the upside is that after 2 months of not printing anything, I boot my printer up, and I can push "print" without worrying about whether the nozzles have dried up. Unless you want to print photos fairly often, I can't think of many reasons to purchase an inkjet over a solid laserjet printer. And of all the laserjets, this model not only provides scanning/copying, but the dependability based on hundreds of reviews gave me peace of mind.

Great Printer

I did some research into the cost of an inkjet vs a laserjet printer. While the initial costs of an inkjet are lower, the overall cost per page is significantly higher, being close to $0.25 per page depending upon yield and price. However, with a black and white laserjet printer, the cost is $0.01 per page up to $0.04 per page depending upon the cost of the toner. So it is significantly cheaper in the long run to get a laserjet IF you are not going to print color.
That being said the resolution and print quality of this printer is excellent. The overall quality of the software is better than average. This printer actually exceeds my expectations.

I have no complaints about this printer. I was tired of having an ink jet printer and the cinstant battle with ink cartridges that dry up and won't print. Plus the ink is so expensive. This laser printer prints with better quality, is faster and the toner will never give me a problem and it's less expensive. Win all around. I don't really need color printing. I've used the scanner a couple of times and it works perfectly.

This is a plug and play ready wireless printer at a good price. Prints only black & white but when using toner vs. ink cartridge it averages out to approximately .03 per copy.
