Defective cartridge?

Received this cartridge on March 2 and by the beginning of April it was drying out. Now that wouldn’t be a problem for me if I was constantly printing out things but I don’t. I feel like I received a defective cartridge.
We understand your Brother LC406BK cartridge did not last long. We'd like to help. The stated page yields for genuine Brother cartridges are based on the ISO testing standards. The number of pages that can be printed with a cartridge is affected by several factors, including paper size, number of pages per print job, amount of print on each page, font size, and print content (graphics, charts, etc.). Print jobs with large text fonts, graphics, charts, and/or large amount of solid coverage (black or any given color) will use much more ink and will shorten the life of the ink cartridge. I gave you a 1 star rating because it was the only cartridge left on the shelf. Your selction of Brother printer supplies is non existant. Either carry the product and stock on the shelves or get out of the printer supply business.
