    A Great Find

The DVD quality and packaging are great. Although the packaging is not entirely original, more care went into this than the second season's design. The DVD menus, however, are beautiful. The video and audio are of top-notch quality (or what can be expected from a primetime television soap opera). The acting is excellent, some of the best on television these days. Sally Field's Emmy win (2008) and nominations (2007, 2009) are well deserved, and Calista Flockheart, Rachel Griffiths, Rob Lowe, and Patricia Wettig continue as an excellent ensemble (along with Luke Macfarlane and Matthew Rhys). Nevertheless, Balthazar Getty's acting ability leaves a bit to be desired (as always, so there's no surprise there). The writing and directing are also superb. The writing is very diverse, ranging from humor to tragedy, rarely boring. The directing and cinematography greatly lend to the upper class Pasadena family atmosphere. Even though Season Three did not live up to the standards set by the prior seasons, it did not fall far either.

    Best nighttime soap

I am very happy they eliminated the preview of the prior show in the 3rd season, that was smart, whoever did that. I love the story lines and ups and downs of the family relationships and the people that come in and out. this is the best nighttime soap and I love Sally Fields, she can really delivery.
