Family dysfunction continues to reign supreme in Season 3 of the ongoing saga of the Walker clan, fueled in part by matriarch Nora (Sally Field) deciding to reach out to her late husband's love child, Ryan Lafferty (Luke Grimes), with an invitation to stay at her house and become acquainted with her less-than-enthusiastic family. Justin and Rebecca (Dave Annable, Emily VanCamp) take their relationship to the next level after learning they are not blood relatives, but Justin decides to cool it down when it becomes hot and heavy. In turn, Rebecca befriends Ryan, who may be looking for more than a friend. Accepting of his uncle Saul (Ron Rifkin) and his now-unburdened sexuality, Justin sets him up with an unlikely blind date (Dave Foley). Kitty (Calista Flockhart) writes a tell-all book that dishes on Robert's campaign by serving up tidbits about her family members. Robert (Rob Lowe) then gives her a choice: either publish the tome or resign as his communications director. Though not a quitter, Kitty realizes it would give her more free time as they proceed with adoption plans. While newlywed Kevin (Matthew Rhys) tries to make a happy home for Scotty (Luke Macfarlane), he encounters trouble at his law office and considers a position working with brother-in-law and political opposite Robert. Rebecca is offered a job working with her mother, Holly (Patricia Wettig), much to the dismay of partner Tommy (Balthazar Getty). And Sarah (Rachel Griffiths), disapproving of how Holly and Tommy are handling Ojai, leaves the family business and contemplates investing in a small Internet company. But Tommy's business plans go well beyond Sarah's imagination. ~ Mario DiMaio
