Don’t get rid of your laptop

I have an iPad 8th generation, when I put my iPad in this case it resembles a netbook I had years ago. Sometimes I forget it’s not a laptop. I’m using it to write this review. While it’s nice to have a keyboard and a trackpad, which moves very easily, I wouldn’t want this for everyday use. I like to have a case with a stand so I can use the touchscreen at different angles. Without the keyboard attached, it’s just a black plastic cover. The case is great since it’s an Otterbox & can be adjusted while using the keyboard but otherwise it lays flat. You can only put it horizontally in the holder not vertically. I had an older keyboard & once connected I was unable to use the touchscreen, I still can use it with the Brydge. Backlit keys are a nice feature & the brightness is adjustable, much easier to type on than my older keyboard & the arrow scroll keys move quickly.
I had a little trouble connecting, it kept dropping Bluetooth & telling me to get within range, when the iPad was attached to the keyboard. The app wouldn’t update & kept telling me to connect to power when I was already connected, after a half hour, it finally paired & updated. It’s hard to tell when the keyboard is on/off because the light disappears quickly & turns on in a second, the backlit keys were off so having them on helps.
This also comes in two pieces & the iPad detaches from the keyboard, it locks into place but doesn’t always line up correctly. Battery life is suppose to be 6 months but that will be determined later.
I like this now that it’s working but was a bit of a challenge at first, I didn’t think connecting a simple case would be a hard thing to do! It was great writing this review with it & I’m sure I’ll be using it often but I still won’t give up the laptop!

If what you’re looking for is a protective case with a keyboard, then this unit works great. But that protectiveness comes at the cost of bulk and weight.
The unit is simple to attach. The iPad clicks into the case and a Bluetooth connection ties it to the keyboard. Brydge claims the battery life on the keyboard is one year, which I obviously have not been able to validate but have no reason to doubt.
While smaller than a normal keyboard, the keys are easy to type on and have a nice backlit design, making them simple to see in the dark. The keys have a surprisingly good tactile feel with good travel, even if they are slightly mushy.
The trackpad is convenient but is difficult to position precisely enough for clicking an object (hint: aim a little lower than is obvious, but that adjustment could work only because I’m tall, so you may have to experiment).
In theory this could make an excellent iPad stand, but that would only work for me if the keyboard flipped backward, which it does not. That’s too bad, as it would allow me to use the iPad as a third screen for my MacBook Air without worrying about where it will fit on my small workspace.
And now we get into the heft, With the case attached my svelte iPad now weights as much as my Dell XPS13 and is nearly as thick, which puts it within a few ounces of my heavier MacBook Air. While the other dimensions are more compact than the Dell, that’s still quite a trade off.
So, where does this leave me? In the curious position of using a secure travel case mostly as a keyboard when I’m not traveling. Perhaps when we’re all meeting in person again I’ll change my mind and find this a convenient balance for meetings and presentations. For now, though, I’m more likely to carry the iPad without the case.
Like a bulky phone case, you have understand the balancing act between size, weight, and functionality, and decide where on that spectrum you’re comfortable. Given that I don’t use a phone case at all, I know where I’ll fall on said spectrum.

Do not like it. It will not stay connected and I am still dealing with a blue screen and when that comes on the keyboard does not work and I have to use the keyboard on the iPad. My first one was the best. Not fond of this one at all.

I have a iPad 7th gen 10.2" and this case worked perfectly for it. I had a little bit of a problem getting it connected and then updated. But I was up and running probably within 10-15 minutes of taking it out of the box!
This is a great way to make your iPad a little more laptop-like. It features the full keyboard as well as a trackpad. I found both the keyboard and trackpad to be very responsive and easy to use. I also love that the keyboard lights up when in use. Makes it a lot easier to type in lower light situations. By default the tap to click was not enabled, but after a quick trip to the settings I was able to enable it and get the trackpad working like you would expect it to work on a laptop.
I did have a little bit of a struggle when closing the iPad down onto the keyboard. I found the best way to do it is to grip the corners where the iPad meets the keyboard and close it that way. If you try to push it down from the top, it will most likely come disconnected from the keyboard part.
Which brings me to my next cool feature, the case that holds the iPad will actually detach from the keyboard very easily so you can use it just like a tablet and not have to worry about accidentally touching the keyboard or damaging the keyboard if its folded under. It is very simple to attach and detach it as needed.
Another thing I love about this case is that it has a built in rechargeable battery. A lot of other ones I have used have those circular disc batteries that don't last very long and you have to buy new ones every few months. With this one, you just plug it in for a bit and you're good to go!
The final thing I love about this case is that its actually an Otterbox case, they are well known for making some of the best phone and tablet cases in the world. You'll know that your tablet works great, and is well protected!
Apart from the small difficulty with closing it, I love this case! I would highly recommend it if you are looking for a case for your iPad!

I never thought I would need a keyboard case for my iPad until i got this one. It literally turned my iPad into a touchscreen laptop! I write emails and search the internet a lot on my iPad and this keyboard case has made my life so much easier.
I was able to use this case out of the box because it has battery left and pairing it with my iPad via Bluetooth was painless. It works seamlessly with the same functions you would find in a regular keyboard, the keys are comfortable to press. This has a sleek design which I like and has backlit on keys (which you can toggle on and off). The track pad/mouse is responsive. Battery life is great, the keyboard sleeps when not in use but I usually turn it off completely to conserve battery. The only con I can think of is the weight. The case and keyboard added a significant weight on my iPad, so weight also feels like you have a laptop. Other than this being heavy, I still like the keyboard case and would recommend to anyone looking for one.

I am using various generations of iPads since the iPad released Because as part of my job at work I need to verify/validate some things on iPads. I always used iPads with just protectors or with just keyboards, But not used or find a good one with the trackpad. This comes with Trackpad and I liked it. No need for a screen protector if we are using this keyboard, This keyboard adds some additional considerable weight to the iPad but I really feel it is not a big deal compared to the number of features it provides, with this case I can tell you it just protects our iPad very well no doubt in that. Easily accessible keys on board it has adjustable backlit brightness to identify keys clearly even in low light and work well. The trackpad works fine without any issues. iPad just sits fine into the slot and no connection issues. Very easy to install. I would definitely recommend this product.

Sturdy, great usability, a must have for your Ipad

My Ipad is everything right now, Calendar, alarm, TV, agenda, web browser, Home automation, I mean there is not a single thing that pertains to my life where my Ipad is not part of. So it is important to have a case that really offers protection, comfort and great usability and it is a pleasure to use. This case is amazing, I was curious about how well would it feel to type the keyboard or using the trackball and it is easy to type and use in general, it is always better to use a real keyboard when you are using an ipad, so basically your Ipad becomes a highly functional laptop with this case.
The setup is really simple and intuitive, in a few minutes you will have it ready. First, you will follow the quick setup (BTW there is not much information in the setup guide as it is a common thing these days with all these new toys, not even the URL that supposedly has more info), download the Brydge app, upgrade the firmware to the latest level. Pair it through Bluetooth the keyboard and trackball. The pairing button is beside the power button, and the procedure to pair it is the same for any other Bluetooth device. The Keyboard is a full size but the keys as you can figure out are quite small but quickly you will get used to it, basically because of the design and material, a combination of silicone and plastic. The trackball is multitouch, extremely responsive but is huge, comparing to the overall size of the keyboard, you will find that it is really advantageous to have that size. Bluetooth is 5.0 so no lags at all, cool thing. It comes with a USB-C cable to charge the battery, no ac adapter, however any 1amp USB will work just fine. Did I mention that the keyboard is backlit? With 3 levels of brightness, but if you are more concerned about the Battery life you can turn it off. However, specs state that Battery Life is Up to 6 months on a single charge, based on 2 hours use per day, obviously I was not able to test this, but backlight is something that really makes me think the designers have considered every single detail to make this product well built.
But what I like the most is that Otterbox is part of the design, so the drop protection is of up to 4 feet. The fact that Otterbox is involved makes me feel very confident. This design also provides a loop to attach the apple pencil, which is a nice addition. The case is elegant and looks and feels solid and reliable.
The hinges case and locking features are all based on magnets, so you will not see clips to hold the ipad, so it makes it very easy to remove it or install but at the same time it holds the ipad very well.
About the weight, for me it is well balanced, the keyboard requires some weight in order to counterbalance the Ipad, considering the Battery that is built in.
Overall It is a high quality keyboard/case that feels and looks like an apple device, but in my opinion it is even better. Not even the Apple brand stand can hold the ipad so firmly. Knowing that Otterbox is behind will make you feel confident that your Ipad will be protected. I am very happy with this case.

It failed within 6 months. I tried to update the keyboard (why that is necessary I don't know) and then it no longer pairs. Then I went to support, and they were beyond unhelpful making me wait 2 weeks to prove their product doesn't work along with video. Even then they wouldn't RMA the product still within warranty. Complete crooks. Stay away!
