This is really nice. I'm using this for extra memory for my xbox one. I had it formatted and ready to use in a couple minutes. It's fairly quiet and works like it should.

This device is compact compared to the Seagate I previously owned. The indicators tell you whether you are connected to USB 2.0 or 3.0. Plus, you cant get any better for $100

Bought because we filled up a 1TB external drive on our Hopper. Wish Dish would allow more than a 2TB external drive as I would have preferred a 4TB or larger drive. However, this drive has an external power supply (required by Dish) and works fine.

I purchase this item for the purpose of downloading my recordings from my old Dish DVR box. Unfortunately, it didn't work, I had to purchase the item from Dish Network. It appears I need to remark if I would recommend this to a friend. Since I bought for a specific purpose. I will be marking it no I wouldn't. However, if you have another purpose perhaps it would work.

I purchased this external hard drive to use in conjunction with Dish TV. I had purchased several prior to this, but another brand which is no longer available (WD My Book). All are 2TB since that is the maximum that the Dish system will accommodate. You must disconnect and change the power cord and USB cable when changing from one storage unit to another. I've never had an issue with the 'WD My Book' external drives, but when I switch to/from the Buffalo Technology DriveStation, it causes the Dish System to crash. I'm using a WIFI system and don't know why it happens, but I find it very annoying. It takes 15-20 minutes to get the Dish system reestablished and working.

I bought this device to back-up my Dish Network DVR since it is nearly full. Dish requires the external hard drive to be powered, no bigger than 2 TB and must use USB 2.0. When the device arrived, i connected it to a power source and the USB cable between the DVR and the HD. I could hear the HD running and there was a green LED that lit on the front, but there is a steady, clicking sound coming from inside the HD, like a phonograph needle skipping at the end of a record. The DVR never recognized the HD, and when I connect the HD to my computer, the computer tells me to "Insert Disc". I need to return this to BestBuy for a replacement or a refund.
