One of the best COD titles I've played in years

As a longtime standing critic of this game (well over a decade) this Call of Duty title rubs me the right way. First, Treyarch constantly releases updates but can't please everybody. Some things like the 9bang do need to be nerfed, but narrowing down on anything specific might change in the future should the developers decide on making it so. The multiplayer portion of the game is boots on the ground but with sliding. As with Black Ops 3, you should probably be using a controller with paddles, because aiming while jumping or sliding is essential in this game. Some killstreaks are over the top in how broken it may seem, but again, that might change after this time of writing. Blackout is the main course that most people are showing up for and IMO its the best military style BR game out right now. It's polished, the map is excellent, you can pick up perks, and gunfights are intense. Winning here is beyond satisfying and that's why this was seen as a selling point that needed to be added. I haven't tried zombies yet, don't want to say anything about it unless I've tried it first hand. All in all, Treyarch's response to problems is getting handled well, I like it, and it feels like classic Call of Duty to me which is why I continue to play it. I recommend it.

Ok, so I only bought this for Zombies and Battle Royal and honestly, I'm surprised at how good it actually is. The Zombies feature has some sort of Grecian Olympic games vibe to it and it works! There's definitely a lot more going, view-wise, than the last one, but it's very easy to get used to. Battle Royal is cute, but Fortnite still takes the cake.

I've had this game for a while now and though most people are probably playing multiplayer, I switched over to playing zombies too. This game was on sale for $30 so it was definitely worth it for me. All I gotta say is just have fun and find some people to play with. Heck I even made some friends online with this game because its so co-op oriented.

I'm an old school player, playing the 1st two games of the series majority of the time on my ps3. This is a big upgrade compared to those 2 which featured a lot of changes from the old titles. Wish there was campaign mode instead of the whole blackout idea. Hate how we have to have a subscription to enjoy the full benefits of this game too

I bought this game solely for multiplayer and I am not disappointed. The specialist feel balanced and add a nice element to the game. I did try Black Out and I am actually impressed with it as well. Fortnite killer for sure - maybe I am biased, I hate the building part in Fortnite. No single player at all which I think is a smart move.

Boots on the ground. That is what you get with the new Black Ops 4. Reminiscent of the older games, this one still has a futuristic sense to it. The modes are pretty good. Sadly there is no campaign or story mode, which sucks because I used to play the campaign first and then dive into multiplayer. Overall the game is good.

Call of Duty will always be that quintessential game that everyone who plays video games feels they must purchase with an exception here or there (I'm looking at you Ghosts) but BlOps 4 feels like a great way to change that whole *eye roll* "I guess i HAVE to buy this one." Yes, there is the usual multiplayer filled with the fun game modes you would expect and this time with no wall jumping or jet boosting to help ease the old timers minds but the real shining achievement is with the addition of the Blackout mode (read: battle royale). Treyarch has managed to create an exciting meld of dropping into a large battleground and finding weapons (you hope), gear, attachments and the ever present in a CoD game, the perk system all the while being hunted by other players doing the same thing in a vast world filled with easter eggs from previous CoD titles. Like the title says, it's nothing that hasn't been done before, but much like Apple creating the iPod, they really try to revolutionize what is out there by taking parts of what works from other games and throws it all in a blender with CoD mechanics and makes a sweet new product.

So the new BO 4 is now lacking a dedicated campaign mode. It does however have a “specialist” mode which is as close to campaign as you will get. Instead this game focuses on the online aspect of COD that players have come to expect with one add-on: battle royal. Something that has become en vogue in the last year. Cod offers their take and it’s a win in my book. While it’s clunky and glitchy at launch I have noticed that the developers are working hard to offer more content and updates pretty regularly to help enhance gameplay and smooth out the rough edges. I only gave it three stars because I feel that the lack of a dedicated campaign makes me feel like for the money I should have gotten more. Very little separates this iteration from other games such as PUBG or H1Z1 except the POV. but I have hope that as the game matures it will find interesting ways to separate itself from the pack.

Great online play , zombies is more fun than ever , blackout is a great rendition of battle royale style game , multiplayer is similar to black ops three minus the absence of thruster boosters, tier ranked style unlocks for items the rest you have to pay for . I miss the ability to win additional items At chance .

It’s one of the most fun Call Of Duties since Modern Warfare 2. It has all the core online game modes that you would expect plus Blackout and Zombies! Only reason I didn’t give it a 5 is because it does not contain a single story mode. It should have been cheaper. Still a good buy for a modern shooter fan.

Didn't know how I felt about Treyarch removing the single player campaign, being a fan of COD campaigns. I gave a shot anyways and have no regrets. For me this is best COD of the gen, possibly even top 3 for me. Love every game mode, even Zombies which I generally don't play. Definitely would reccommend.

There is no single player campaign to be found, instead, there are a plethora of multiplayer game modes available to play. I picked up this game primarily for the Blackout game mode (battle royale) and it does give a different gaming experience compared to Fortnite or Playerunknown's Battlegrounds.

no story mode is no promble. most people only play CoD for online just focusing on their K/D ratio. Blackout or fortnite mode is exciting and fun assuming you have a team that works together. i did the basic game because i couldnt justify the extra money for more maps and whatever else you get.

So had been waiting on this for a while. Came out on my deployment and was going to wait until I got home but Best Buy had an amazing deal. Game is cool and the blackout mode is amazing. It is weird since there’s no campaign but I haven’t played a COD campaign in like 6 years. MUST BUY!!!

Got this game because my friends were planning to play this until Red Dead comes out and it was a good investment. I haven't played a Call of Duty since Black Ops 1, and they really changed up the zombie mode. I know, we still mow down zombies and all but now we have the power of the Gods as well? I could use Thors hammer and summon different Perks through other gods. It's pretty crazy but I like it. Another thing I love is the blackout mode. That mode is super fun. Its like if PubG was done right. Great mode to play with your friends. And lastly the multi-player, it's a lot faster and crazier than ever. Since my last game was black ops 1, this is a different animal in terms of pace but it's good to see the original maps again. It really feels rewarding when you get the kill of the round or when you go on a kill streak. I have yet to try the operator missions but I heard that's a trip too. I can't wait to get on tonight to play with the boys.

Each aspect of Black Ops 4 introduces some great new ideas that continue to evolve the series. The new heist mode is a incredible. Zombies thrives from having more than just two launch maps; and any of Black Ops 4’s three modes make for an awesome shooter experience.

Going into this purchase I already knew that there was no campaign so be aware of that if that is what you like about this series. Just about everything is online play for this installment. I'll break it down by modes: * Blackout - This is CoD's version of Arena Battle. Similar in style to games like Fortnite this mode has about 100 players dropping into a huge map and the last man/team standing wins. This was the main driving point of this game but I have to tell you I am largely unimpressed. Action is slow and boring and the whole mode just gets old fast. Map is largely just old multiplayer maps cobbled together on a plain boring landscape. Maybe if the map was a little more war torn it would look more COD-esque, but overall it is just bland. Really hope that this mode does not become a common thing that happens to CoD. Some may like it but not for me. Definitely going to be a divisive factor in buying this game. * Multiplayer - If you've played CoD before then this is probably what you are buying this game for. Takes a lot from Black Ops 3 as far as using different characters with different skill sets for different play styles. Only thing I do not like about Multiplayer this year is the use of life gauges and having to manually replenish your health. Players become bullet sponges and guns just seem very unbalanced. Patches could fix this. Maps are pretty much average this time around. Nothing very memorable like some previous games have had. Also 4 of the maps are recycled from previous games. Not even reskinned just plain recycled. Since they had 3 years to do a new game and were not even weighed down with doing a campaign they could have paid a little more attention to the launch maps. At least wall running is gone though! * Zombies - This is the one area I think they made an improvement this time around. You can finally play with difficulty levels and even bots if you are playing solo. Map variation is impressive this time around too. Titanic map has some impressive levels of detail and historical accuracy (minus the zombies of course). The roman coliseum map is different and has very fast paced action. Going back to Alcatraz from Black Ops 2 with a few new bits thrown in is also a good addition. Throw in a good ranking/reward system and you actually feel like you are making progress towards achieving the next rank. The whole Zombies story line is just nuts at this point so just take it for what it is and have fun. Overall this will be a very interesting year for CoD. They took out something that fans love and replaced it with something new. Time will tell if this was a good idea.

My son and I played this the day of release; both had a lot of fun playing and shared a ton of laughs! Probaby a lot of people trying to be “joe cool” saying “the game is trash” and “stupid there is no campaign.” Ingore that noise and enjoy it for what it is, a GAME!
