Many also praised the campaign, weapons, and online play, citing positive experiences with maps and perks. even though i've only played the beta version its easy to tell that this game is going to be just as much fun as the last. the guy who is complaining about campers probably just isn't that good or doesn't like these types of games. the weapons are great, the perks are better, the action is nonstop. so what if you respawn and die within a couple of seconds, it doesn't happen enough to make the game unbearable, get a grip. the graphics are good but dont compare to Modern Warfare which shouldn't be a surprise to anybody cause that game was amazing graphically. unless the developers totally blow it (which wont happen) this game is gonna be one of the best of 2008.

The good: Keither sutherland voice is spot on for this game. When you win a team match (as an american) what he says gives me goose bumps. Its fun to be German, Russian, Japanese and American characters!! I will only play zombie doing the day its gives me the creeps at night. The varity of perks are fun like bouncing betties, revive teammates (In team matches taking away a kill from the other team is cool). I played the complete campain in Co-op mode. I feel war is h e doube tooth pick when you go it alone. I play this more than COD4 and Halo3. In multiplayer after killling 3 of you own teammates your out! I like that feature.

The best WWII game ever made

This game is THE best World War 2 shooter ever made, hands down. The campaign is kind of short, but very fun. The inclusion of co-op campaign and zombies was a good idea. Online play is fun and most of the highly abused glitches have been patched. The community is largely good, but some are not good sports. The party system is okay, but sometimes you lose connection with your party. If you think the campaign is too easy, put it on veteran and say that! The tanks are tough to take down, but it's not easy to destroy a tank in real life is it? I highly recommend this to anyone who likes the WWII genre.

Call of Duty World at War is just awesome. I played Call of Duty 4 and loved it, and when I heard that Call of Duty World at War didn't get as much positive review as COD4, I got a little upset. But I still bought it. And it's awesome. The campaign is much better than COD4, graphics are good, multiplayer is fun, and you really feel like you're a soldier fighting in WWII. The zombies level is really fun as well. I highly recommend this game to any gamer who likes first person shooters or the Call of Duty series. In my opinion, this is the best in the series.

A slight step back from COD4

Overall, World at War was a good game. It was however, a little bit of a letdown after the big shoes COD4 left to fill. While it is possibly the best WWII game on the market, it lacks a few aspects. Even though it has been done many times in other games, I think at least one of the major battles of D-Day or iwo Jima should have been added. Which then leads me to the fact that there is no US vs Germany. I know the differences in the time periods of the war, but I think they should have included a few battles in the game, and online play. Some of the graphics are good in the game (i.e. some landscape, tanks, etc.), while others aren't very good at all (dogs, some random objects throught the map...) The weapons are a little more challenging to use sometimes, but there is a good variety and have most of the major guns of the era. The M1 Garand, M1A1, Kar98K, Springfield 1903, MP44, etc. The tanks are also a good addition in online play. They can be annoying at times, but it presents a different kind of challenge and mixes things up a bit. As far as real damage, I love the fact they made it more realistic with physical damage to the character, however, I wish they had more physical surrounding damage by flamethrowers, tanks, etc. The flamethrowers can burn some trees, but not others, and I believe the tanks should be able to cause damage to some buildings and such. Overall, it was worth the money, more-so for the online play, but I think there are a few things they could have done better if they would have taken more lessons from COD4.

    GREAT GAME

i am not a big fan of first person shooter games. i have played halo 1 and 2 and thought they were kinda dumb. also wasnt to into resistance 2 either. something was lacking from both series for a NON FPS fanatic. i bought this game a week ago, and then bought call of duty 4 since everyone said it was better as well and to be hoenst both of them are fun to play. the graphics are amazing on both games and the weopons are fun and plenty. the online mode features an "experiance" type system use dto "level up" and unlock new weapons and "abilities/ perks". that makes the game excellent and keeps you busy. the downside for a new player is when you first start out online, you dont have the good weopons becuase you have not "leveled up" and unlocked them for use..so it is a little frustrating at times to be unloading on someone with a gun and get shot once and die when you just pumped 2 shot gun shells into them or 20 machine gun rounds. it is still fun and expected to have a little trouble starting out but like in real life it isnt really about skill but about who has the bigger guns in the end but it is still possible to level and get kills, just harder. it is still fun to play and makes the game a little more chanllenging and worth playing to level up and get access to better weopons. i am not a big fan of FPS games but this game and COD 4 is an exception. i would advise anyone who can play a FPS game and understand the controls to play the game at least once. in my opinion both were worth buying, i havent played them long enough to say 4 is better than 5 like some people say, to me they are about the same except one is modern and the other takes place during WW2. they are both great games and worth picking up.

I recently bought call of duty world at war after playing the beta the weekend before. I thought it would be really fun but it turned out to be short single player experience. It has the intensity u would expect from a Call of Duty Game but they didnt really add anything new to the game but made it WWII, switched the weapons, and put a few new perks and some maps in. But its still an alright game if u like call of duty u will be pleased no matter what

Overall, this is a really good game. There are some funny glitches here and there, but it's pretty fun. I would definitely recommend this to Call of Duty fans, but anyone could easily get into it. By the way, this game is worth buying just for the Zombie mode; It's better than the entire campaign!!

I was really lead to buy this game considering how awesome COD 4 was. The multiplayer was great, graphics were great, campaign was great, overall GREAT. Shortly after playing COD 5 i was caught off guard by the un responsiveness while playing online. I don't know if my character is equiped with a rubber knife or what but 3 out of 4 times my knife dont register. Also the weapons are very inconsistent. Not realistic at all. The MP40 using the 9mm round. Will easily outshoot the STG-44 which uses a 7.92x33mm which is ALOT more powerful. About 3 out of 10 times you can kill people in no more than 3 bullets while using the MP40. Which is VERY aggrovating. Bullet Lag is off also. Sometimes you shoot behind them and kill them. Or you are leading them like you are supposed to and it doesnt register. There is no diversity to campaign hardly at all. I am someone who wants some change from level to level to keep me on my toes. This game gives little but not much. I think they need to update the game quite a bit. The game needs it.

with the price cut, this is an awesome deal. the gameplay is great. campaign is fun but comes to become gradually more difficult but it isn't bad at all. it is also very fun to play with friends, online or off. i still think call of duty 4 os a bit better though but this is great as well.

The Multiplayer is excellent and the storyline get you ready for the multiplayer front. The campaign is hectic and confusing at times but in a good way. It makes you feel in the action. The multiplayer action can be played in many different ways with many many unique maps.

This first person shooter is the best game. It has the easiest controls and it is easy to get good at. The story missions are awesome. The multiplayer is the absolute best part about this game. This game would not be that good without multiplayer. The guns and perks are awesome while they added some new things. Add ME!

okay I was either going to buy this or gears of war 2... I chose this because best buy had it on sale for only $35. I can't say that I made a mistake because I didn't. this game is amazingly fun and has great graphics. the gore system is extremely realistic. Online play is great. The only way that it isn't good is that COD 4 came out first... The weapons on COD 4 were much better even though these weapons are great they just don't compare to 4's. Nzi zombies is an awesome feature that I have gotten hours and hours of gameplay from and have only made it to round 31. The flamethrower is great in the (amazing) campaign mode but when aquired online at level 65 it's just completely unbalanced and unfair to anyone who doesn't have it. One last note is that the responsiveness is good except sometimes you shoot someone and they should die but they don't. thats about all thats wrong with this game because the rest is awesome.

Best game ever the graphic are great as well as the weapon choices and perks. The dog's are so much better than the cheap helicopter the could get you anywhere. But what I like the most is how your guy responds to being shot. First of all if you got hit by and explisive or a shot gun at close range your body parts can fall off or it could tear open your rib cage. Also if you are being shot you can she blood or the bullets go through you. Then when you see the bulltets going through you are are being shot your guy will hold his woud with his hand. The online maps are so much bigger like 3 times bigger than cod4 maps with so much more hiding spots. If you want a map for sniping try downfall there are bunkers treaches rubble and other places to hide everywhere also it is the biggest map. I dont care what anyone else says about this about how bad it is dont listen you will never regret this.

    Awesome Game: Great Multiplayer

First of all this is definitely a good first person shooter. I would say that the campaign is long enough to get your moneys worth and is worth playing multiple times especially if one likes to get achievement points for xbox 360. The great thing is also the multiplayer because it offers a lot more after the single player and coop campaign. In the multiplayer game there is a ranking system that allows you to upgrade weapons, receive perks that increase health/damage and new weapons. I bought the game a while ago and am still playing the multiplayer after having played through on hard and veteran. Watch out though veteran is a killer. :)

Many people were dissappointed with the series going back to WW2. There also was a let down to know that the developer of COD1,2, and 4 (Infinity Ward) was not to work on COD: WaW. Instead it is Treyarch (the creator of COD3) For anyone to criticize this game before it even comes out is a bit biased. Treyarch made COD3 which played exactly like COD2 and was really a great game. Yes they borrowed IW's COD4 engine to make World at War, but they expanded upon it, adding perks and a new take on the pacific theatre of the biggest war in history. Best Buys discription is off as well. The multiplayer goes up to 16 players I believe and up to 4 under co-op. Pre-released information includes new perks like frogger (swim faster) and monkey (climb trees faster.) Many of the COD4 perks are seen again in this title as well.

Another chapter in the COD book of games. The maps appear to be much more detailed this time around and the small changes to the online play such as better post-game stats, increased difficulty knifing, better perks, and getting rid of that unsightly helicopter with x-ray vision really make things smoother. The dogs aren't all they're cracked up to be, but why should they? They are a perk, not a means all to achieving great scores. My only criticism is that that took a step back in time. A whole 60+ years. The World War II is getting a bit over done and was refreshing in COD4 to have something new age. However, this will not stop me from enjoying the game to its entirety and wasting more valuable studio time playing this for at home for hours online.
