Customers are saying

Customers are enthusiastic about the engaging gameplay and the fun "Zombies" mode in Call of Duty: World at War. Many also praised the campaign, weapons, and online play, citing positive experiences with maps and perks. However, some criticisms were raised regarding the artificial intelligence, difficulty level, and occasional spawning issues. Overall, the game's action-packed nature and various features appear to be major draws for players.

    Best WWII shooter

The multiplayer is as good and addictive as call of duty 4's. The storyline and gameplay are both great and this game is easily the best WWII shooter. I think that the zombies feature is the best part of the game, it never gets old and is really fun to play online with friends.

Excellent shooter. Not nearly good as COD4 though

I was hesitant about buying COD World at War because COD4 was so excellent. I didn't understand the concept of going back to weaponry used over 60 years ago when the weaponry used in COD4 was so awesome. Nonetheless, the solo campaign mode for COD World at War is excellent. It DOES takes some time figuring out which person to be shooting. I couldn't tell if I was shooting a teammate or an enemy! There is even one instance where you're asked to blow up enemy tanks. The only problem is that the enemy tanks look so similar to the Allies' Sherman Tanks! Even though the weaponry is all outdated (gosh, COD4 was so awesome, but anyways) but still makes for a very pleasant shooter. The flamethrower is one of my favorites. Activision sure didn't skimp on the graphics and presentation as well. You're really in for a treat the second you insert the disc and play the game. Definitely a keeper (even though Call of Duty 4 is still the best in the COD series).

    LOOKS AMAZING

This game looks to be Amazing. The graphics look better than ever! Okay, I was disappointed about WWII, but this game looks cool. The idea of swords rather than knives, and that there are combo moves are very cool. Also, there are flame-throwers, and you are not limited to what you can burn! I like that the Soviet Campaign is being revisited. You can tell this is probably the last WWII CoD, b/c the war ended with the Soviet Invasion of Berlin, and the Americans bombing Japan, and this is the only game where you face imperial Japanese Armed Forces. This is also amazing because this is the first time ever the protagonist is taken as a POW. That scene looks wicked sick. Also, the idea that the enemy has knives makes the game more realistic. In CoD4, which was the best one yet, the enemy was still butting you with the rifle. In this game they have swords, too, making for a more realistic experience. PRE-ORDER B4 ITS 2 LATE!!!!!

Have you played COD Modern Warfare?

    Posted .

I would say the review of this game depends totally on whether you have played COD4 Modern Warfare much. If you have not spent alot of time playing COD4 will probably love it. Graphics although shadowy and grainy at times are intriguing and it is probably the best WW2 multi-player game ever made. Although the solo gameplay is relatively short the multi-player can go on forever and takes substantial time to level up and unlock all the weapons, perks and challenges. If you spent(d) hour after hour on COD4 as I did(do) I believe you will be extremely disappointed with Cod5 World at War. I don't know anyone that has purchased this series for the solo play alone, so I base this mostly on the multi-player online gameplay. The good side is there are more game types such as war, capture the flag, and veteran to go along with the COD4 standards. There are also 4 hardcore game options. Although tanks add a new exciting experience they usually end up getting you killed if you don't have ground support troops to help protect you. The gameplay thoroughly disappointed me. after playing the beta I half expected a small letdown, but figured the many new areas and weapons would make up for it. I was wrong. MAny of the maps have a shadowy grainy feel to them. Often I see the graphics move for no reason which often can be mistaked for enemy movement. Several of the maps sprawl which may be nice in some Ground War and Free for All games, but tends to be annoying in most others. There seems to be a definate power shift to sub machine guns in my opinion which makes it harder to level up other guns and annoying while getting shot from accross the map with an MP40. I have many issues with the power/fire rate/range of the weaponry. I'm sure you have experienced watching a replay in COD4 feeling like you shot someone way before they shot you only to see in the replay you never pulled the trigger. I experience that about 5x more often in COD5 which has almost single handedly made me return to COD4. There are reports of cheats available to allow up to 6 perks(only shows 3) which would explain players seeming invincable without the fireproof and/or juggernaut perks on. I can't substantiate these claims, but I can say I get frustrated playing the online game more than I enjoy it. To end my review let me say... I hope the rumours are true and can't wait for (praying) Infinity Ward to finish COD6 hopefully in time for Chistmas 2009. I will never pay full price for a multiplayer game developed by Treyarch again.

This is another great COD game. I especially like that it is for the 360, because war games on the 360 are great with graphics! Only problem I have is that they could have made it a little more difficult.

Good, solid game. Multiplayer is the best part of the COD series. Going through the game by yourself is ok, but playing with friends makes it even better. And the zombie mode rules!

The reason I say awesome bargain is like COD4 with the online gaming you get more than moneys worth out of the Call Of Duty series. You will put days and days worth of hours on your system with this game because of its replay value. I play probably close to 2 hours every night sometimes more. The campaign on the game is also excellent and as good as any other game I have played through. The only bad which really isn't so negative is the weapons. They are spot on for the timeline but I enjoy the weapons on call of duty modern warfare more. Anyway, this game is a must have if you haven't already picked up a copy and xbox 360 is definitely the system to play it on.

okay now that I have had this game for a few months and finished the story mode I can now write this review. First off I was to say that I am tired of people crying about game play and not being as good as cod 4 it is as good if not better but is much harder online and you really have to work for guns and perks, someone said that the tanks where hard to take down....when was the last time you walked in the front yard and took down a tank with a gernade and a msg...... I meen I understand the diffrence between new guns and old school guns but you have to have respect for the wonderfull job done here, the graphics are pretty sharp online and off the games hard to play just like living throgh a massave war would be and the voice actings good, to be honest its every thing i ever wanted in a fps ww2 game.

The good: Focuses on the Pacific theater of WW II and gives new perspective to that confrontation Good graphics compared to previous games Good sound quality EX. gunshots sound realistic etc. Faithful representation of guns and effects ex. muzzle flash/explosions Online coop story mode/zombies The bad: Old weapons aren't very appealing story is very linear Gives false sense of realism ex. teammates never die/ infinite enemy spawns/enemies always know where you are online multilayer flaws ex. overpower weapons/spawn killing/glitches Overall: Decent graphics + decent game play + decent multilayer = decent game

Not COD 4 But Still a great game

This game is pretty simmilar to Call of Duty 4 except that it is set during WWII. It seems some people are turned off by this and do not know why a developer would go back to an old formula after a title was just named Game of the Year. A game takes a few years to be developed so this title was made before Activison knew that COD 4 would be a hit. There is a multiplayer campain in this game which is new for the series. The ranking system is simmilar to that of COD 4. You stil get specials for getting numbers of kills in row. The one that is most changed is the 7 kills gets you a dog attack now which is pretty cool. Check this game out if you like shooters or the Call of Duty series. Maybe the next one will be set in modern times.

If you have little money like me then you want a great game your gonna keep playing, right? Well CoD delivers that, it delivers lengthy gameplay with great graphics. I'm an OK gamer and it took me about a day to beat this, which is long in todays games, it has four difficulties to keep playing it on a very hard level. The hardest is veteran and almost all the achievements are to complete a certain mission on veteran. Its still an OK game if you don't have live, but this is the best game ever over live. I've never played any of the previous CoD games (i thought they were dumb) but my friends all have it and convinced me, and it is great i've played as long as i've had it because its so good of a game. Overall 6 out of 5 stars

    Excellent Multi-Player Gameplay and Graphics!!!

I absolutely love COD WAW...coming from someone that has COD4 and was highly disappointed in it, I found that Treyarch really hit a Home Run with this title. The game is fast-paced, intense, dead on graphics wise, and in XBox live it is addictive. The only gripe I have with it so far is the multitudes of noobs that are going out of their way to find Wall glitches and map hacks(i.e.going under the map, etc.). It really takes the fun out of the game. That and people using Rifle Grenades in the beginning of the roun d and killing you with a blind shot all the way accross the map. Treyarch is releasing a Map Pack on March 19th 2009 though that is suppossed to 'fix' these issues. Let's hope that that truly is the case.

1st is the online muiltiplayer with over 15 maps to play from each there is also a restriction on there if you want to have it gore and bloody with strong language but you could turn it on and it would be better for young children online may or could cause some foul language from other players. This is one of my first games I've gotten before i got a new one and once you level up to 65 you can go to prestige mode and start all over but you lose all of your weapons and you will notice your icon from the right will change to many other types of stars (RANKS) the higher you are the other people will know the better you are. So if your looking for a game this is the #1 game of my opinion you should buy it.

This game looks great in high defintion and sounds good too. However, its too much like world war games which in my opinion has been over done. I really like how COD4 changed it up and made it more modern and this game just put it back to all the others. The gameplay is still pretty good though and the controls are good too. Online play is good too, but its just to repetative which is why I did not enjoy the game as much.

I don't think Best buy's overview of this game does it justice. Don't worry they are not getting rid of 16 player online play infact I heard something about 18 player though I'm not sure. They just added co-op. 2 player split screen and 4 player over the internet. If you want screen shots and previews of the game go to IGN.com or better yet go to Callofduty.com. There you can search the forums for information about perks, weapons, campaign info, etc. *Once again how can people review this game before it is officially released?

Blows all first person shooters out of the water

Only one thing can be said that is not good about this game. That is the fact that you can't do split screen xbox live with a guest like you can in Halo 3. Other than that this game is amazing. If you loved Modern Warfare this is even better. Just keep in mind you are going from modern warfare to WW2. So the guns and everything are of that era. But the gameplay is flawless and online play is yet again amazing. If you are a fan of first person shooters than it would be foolish to not buy this game.
