Customers are saying

Customers are enthusiastic about the engaging gameplay and the fun "Zombies" mode in Call of Duty: World at War. Many also praised the campaign, weapons, and online play, citing positive experiences with maps and perks. However, some criticisms were raised regarding the artificial intelligence, difficulty level, and occasional spawning issues. Overall, the game's action-packed nature and various features appear to be major draws for players.

    Incredible!

This game is the best game I have ever owned. The campaign mode, while short, is intense and just hard enough. The online mode is fantastic, runs smoothly, and is a blast with friends (or strangers). One of the coolest things to do online is the N a z i Zombies mode, which is unlocked after beating the campaign. I won't ruin the mode by telling you all about it, but it is insanely fun and addicting. However, if you don't have Xbox live, this might not be the game for you. After beating the story mode, there's not much to do besides Xbox live. Still, this is definitely a game to look into.

to start off, this game seemd very much like modern warfare. it had alot of the same perks of cod4. thats not all bad though, the online play is still just as fun but it takes a little bit longer to get into games. the actual career mode was definitly one of the best of the cod's it had actual events and repercusions that actually happend in the past. once you beat the game you also unlock whats called "n**i zombies" this is probably one of my favorite parts of the game because co-op mode on it is a blast. whats better than killing zombies? killing zombies with your friends of course.

This game is alot of fun online Esp. with the NXE any friends you are partied up with will show a different color on your mini map. The online is solid good for hours of play time... but as i stated before if you are thinking COD4 you will hate this game... if you really enjoyed COD3 its an awesome upgrade to that game and totally fun! Campaign is a little disapointing but you make a run thru it once beat it and then its an online game from there on out!

Anyone that has compared this game to GoW2 and said that it is better is more than likely to be under the age of 12. Also, the graphics are pretty amazing so anyone that has said the graphics are not good DEFINITELY needs to buy a new TV. Overall, this game is good....not the best....but for sure it is a good buy. If you like the movie "Saving Private Ryan" you will enjoy playing this game....its amazing how i got the feeling of actually "playing" the movie at times during this game. Of course, I always rent a game before i buy it.....just to make sure it is for me.....

    Another great COD

Just like cod4 online, but with new weapons, perks, and added tanks. I was worried about it being WWII era, but the iron sights work suprisingly well, and they still have unlockable dot sights (aperature sights), scopes, silencers(flash hiders/supressors), and the new addition of bayonetts. Best features of cod waw: No learning curve if you've played cod4, don't have to start at the bottom Flamethrower perk Molotovs and sticky grenades Packs of attack dogs instead of attack chopper Splitscreen/online co-op play The use of Tanks return to the COD series

I was able to purchase this online for for about $35 and it is worth it. I probably would have purchase this game at regular price anyway. So if you feel this game was dumb compare to cod4 your probably wrong not so many people gave this game a chance but got higher than a 9 rating hey thats almost perfect 10. Graphics are great its by far the best cod graphics Ive ever seen. Cod4 did have good graphics but parts were there body parts should have been blown off was kind off un realistic. This is a shooter must have trust me you wont go wrong.

    Great Shooter, Better than COD4

I recently purchased this game and played a little bit of campiagn to get used to the movement and controls. I found it very easy to pick up and play again. The graphics are great and the gameplay is very smooth. Multiplayer is a lot of fun and is very challenging at times. The ranking system didnt change from COD4 so if you liked the ranking system it is still the same. I havent found any big issues yet but I have only been playing for a couple of days. Whether you liked COD4 or not I would still recommend that you give this game a shot.

this game was one of the funnest ive played and its cool but it was bassiclly cod 4 just warld war 2 stuff and i though it was really stupied on how the 2 player mode was spilt into a stupied shape and didnt take up the whole screen it was like who in the world thought of that i mean seriously it was stupied but online play was what made this game a real good game its fun and usually different on every game you play

    Far Worse Clone

    Posted .

Im a hardcore CoD modern warfare fan and this game did not live up to CoD4's standards. They used many of the great things from modern warfare, such as weapon customization and prestige modes, but still failed to reach the same height. The online system was simply not very enjoyable. Guns lack the power to give you any satisfaction while you firing them as well as having almost no recoil. This results in a very unbalanced weapons system. Spawning was focused more on team spawns rather than safe spawns, I cannot count the times I spawned and died by crossfire. Overall, treyarch did not deliver as infinity ward did. The only aspect of the game that kept me going in the campaign was the prospect of Zombies which delivered and was ten times more fun than the campaign itself and most of the online play combined. All in all, If you are looking for a good online first person shooter buy CoD Modern Warfare or Halo3 rather than this game.

    WW2....AGAIN!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

When I first heard that Call of Duty 5 was not going to be developed by Infinity Ward (the creators of Call of Duty 1, 2, and 4) i died a little inside.... i knew that Treyarch would get their grubby hands on this awesome series and set the bar back that Modern Warfare raised. And i was right...kind of... This is indeed just another WW2 shooter....same story...same bad guys...same ending as the first, 2nd, and 3rd COD, as well as every other WW2 game. That being said, its probably also the best WW2 game around, though, this late in the game, thats honestly not saying that much. I finished the singleplayer campaign on hardcore in 4 hours. This game is SHORT. It has absolutly no replay value whatsoever. But you do get a nice reward for completing the game. You unlock Zombies. In this mode you try and defend a broken down house from waves of zombies. They grow in numbers and in strength the longer you survive. Its fun for the first 10 or 20 playthroughs, but after that it gets very boring. The multiplayer is mediocre, and you should stick with CoD4 for that. The only reason i'd recommend this game to anyone is the online Co-Op campaign. But thats about it.. 6.3/10

Good COD sequel - poor uniform detail

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

A good sequel for COD and first shooter fans. World at War mimics the rewards and rank-up benefits methodology of COD4. The one down note, Activision contracted Treyarch instead of the more highly skilled Infinity Ward to produce this game, and as a result some detail and authenticity suffers. Regardless of which side you fight on, the uniforms all look like wrinkly green G.I. Joe. Contrasting with the brilliant authenticity of Infinity Ward's CODs 2 and 4 this is quite a disappointment. When you're playing the only way to tell friend from foe is the name tag popping up above the character, green letters for friend, red letters for foe. Sometimes this doesn't appear in time to make a crucial decision. Contrasting the uniforms Russian v. German or Japanese v. American would be a great improvement for this game and bring it up closer on par with CODs 2 and 4.

choices that weren't in Cod 4.War, cap the flag, tanks, dogs, 65 levels, 10 classes, bayonets, bipods, dual magazines, sticky gernades, molotovs, and frags, dogs, flamthrowers, hardcore free-for-all, hardcore war, also limbs flying all over the place,(in solo player or co-op u can shoot or blow peoples heads off). u also hav the co-op split-screen or live co-op. u can make a squad with friends, also there is a massive leaderboard with everything imaginable. and also flame thrower tanks.

I loved COD4, so I bought this game without even checking into it to make sure it was good. I can't say that I am disappointed, but I am not totally thrilled. It is a good game, but the old weapons are hard to use after playing COD4. Yes, I understand that they are from WWII, but they are still hard to use and get used to. I do like the game, but COD4 is still much better.

One of the Best War Games Ever

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Well I know it went back in time but it is a great tool to understand your history better. But However what I didn't like about this is the replacements of the knives with sword. Also, the laser sights didn't come out in until 1950's about 5+ years after this game is setting for which is realistically something that I relied on playing CoD4. But it is a great game don't get me wrong. Flamethrowers if they had this in the past game for CoD4 then it could have been that much better. Also, flamethrower tanks that is cool. But when CoD6 comes out then it should be with the next war after WWII. Then shortly build up from then to this War on Terror but that's just me. Also, I have waited till the map pack for Call of Duty 4 came out then I have the map packs for CoD4. But with this another way to get me to buy this game is if it comes with map expansions and that DVD of Saving Private Ryan or Pearl Harbor or even Enemy at the Gates which would be a great combo for another excitement. That would be a great insentive on buying the game or even raise it by $10 then I would totally get it. Or do what Halo 3 did with different 3 different editions for this game would be a great way to sell. But I love this game and the future of Call of Duty games to come too. It will be close or tie for a game of the year type game.

this is a very fun game but sadly not as good as call of duty 4. if you are wondering if you should get it instead of cod4 or if you already have cod4 i would not buy it. sniping in this game sucks and weapons are all pretty much the same. everyone online just uses the mp40 and it gets very cheap. by all means i like the game but just not as much as cod4

i bought call of duty 4 and it was great. i bought this game and it was great. it brings you back into a world war2 experience. when i heard of this game i was thinking"oh know not another ww2 game. then when i played it it was so fun. allthough i would perfer cod4 but they are almost neck and neck. For kids that can only play E and T games you can turn off the blood and gore and the language. it was worth every penny and i wouldhighly recommened it.

I had this for the PS3 and traded it in for the xbox360 version. The PS3 would disconnect while playing online constantly. The Xbox version is far superior for online play. The maps get stale after awhile and as of 01\22\09 there still hasn't been a new download. I would recommend this to anyone who likes 1st person shooters and online play.

This game is my FAVORITE game for the 360 out yet. I am extremely happy with it, the graphics are VERY nice, the storyline is very well put together and I really like the short cut scenes with actual footage of WWII. Responsiveness is pretty good, VERY FUN, and it's pretty challenging. I definitely recommend this to anybody that has a 360, likes the Call of Duty Series, or WWII games. Buy this game HERE. The cheapest I have seen it anywhere.

this game is amazing! The graphics are crazy good and the sound phenomenal. the online is the same as cod 4. but the global leaderboard is way better. This is a must have for the X-BOX 360. The only thing i didnt like about this game was the flame thrower. It takes a while to get it online and its really not that good. But it looks totally realistic. Also, the M1A1 carbine is totally worth the wait. Buy this game, you will be glad you did.
