I've had my Canon MG5220 printer for the longest now and it's still chugging along great. The ink that the printer uses is awesome also. The blacks are strong and the colors are vivid. More importantly, the presentation of color from the screen to the photo is spot on so I can expect my photos to come out looking like they do on my monitor. There's only one downside... They don't last long at all. When I print a few photos (like only two or three) and 10 or so 2-3 pages documents, it's already down 40%. I wish the cartridges were a little bigger so that way I wouldn't have to keep buying so often, but that's how Canon gets my money and time, I guess. Well, at least I can price match them on BestBuy from Amazon. Pros - Strong blacks - Not so expensive - Easy to price match Cons - Runs out fairly quickly - Not so cheap

I seem to always be low on ink

I know this is a review for a black ink cartridge. However, I must talk about the printer first and foremost. While our Canon printer works well, it seems to use ink at an alarming rate. I feel like I'm always buying ink for our Canon printer. The price of a single cartridge doesn't seem so high, but I'd like to get more life out of a cartridge. They sell the colored inks and a black cartridge in a bundle, but they never seem to end at the same time and I'm often having to buy individual colored cartridges. When I buy my next printer I'll be sure to read reviews about the ink and check out the price per cartridge.

Canon ink is expensive in comparison to off brands but it is reliable and consistent. I have used Canon refills for a number of years with no problems with the cartridges nor my printers. That can not always be said concerning generic ink refills. If you are like me and do not print a large number of sheets often, print them with an ink cartridge that will work and keep your printer running well.

After a few years of buying off-brand (cheap) ink cartridges and having all kinds of problems with smudged, unreadable printouts, I've learned to just splurge and buy the real cartridges from Canon, at least for the black ones. You might be able to get away with the cheap stuff for color. Now I have confidence that boarding passes, documents and bar codes will print cleanly. This cartridge was actually a few dollars less than listed, also had just received a 5 dollar off coupon so pretty reasonable price.

    Ink Doesn't Last Long Enough

The ink quality is fine. All the Canon ink is good quality, but it costs too much and I wish it lasted longer. I also wish when I keep asking for grayscale, as I do, that the color cartridges would stop being used, even though I can't see any color on the sheets. The color runs out way more than it should since I don't color copy that much.

Canon ink cartridges do a fine job when used in my Canon printer. i have never had a problem with clogs or blobs of ink on my photos. The main problem with Canon ink cartridges, as with all ink cartridges, is that they are too expensive. As a result, it is always less expensive to have photos printed at Wal-Mart or Target than it is to print them myself. At home I print only photos I need in a hurry. If I don't need a print immediately I go to Wal-Mart to have photos printed.

I've always liked the way Canon printers performed. The print and photo quality is always first rate. My only complaint is the ink cartridges are too small. My printer, MX892, uses 5 cartridges and four of them are only about 9 ml of ink, so I have to replace the cartridges quite often. Since I'm mostly retired, I don't use the printing function as often as I used to so it's easier to replace the cartridges than it is to replace the printer.

Canon definitely produces great printers, and I have used about every manufacturer on the market. The photo quality is to of the line. The only thing that keeps me from giving it a perfect 5 star rating is the page yield. I think for the price of the individual cartridges the yield should be a lot better. At the cost of replacing all the ink cartridges is almost as much as just buying the printer again with all the ink with it.

There are many places to buy this ink, but as an Elite Plus member, I got a 15% discount on this purchase! In addition, the cashier checked the internet for a better price so she'd be able to Price Match it. (No other store had a lower price) Canon printers and ink are excellent and Best Buy is the best place to buy them.

Have been using this same ink cartridge since I purchased this Canon Pixma printer about 6 years ago. It is perfect for what I need it for. Only negative is I wish it would last longer, or if Canon would offer an alternative cartridge that would last 2 or 3 times longer, like Hewlett-Packard does.

I've used Canon ink and I have tried recycled cartridges. The quality of the recycled cartridges just hasn't been that good. They don't seem to last as long and sometimes I have to go through several cleaning cycles before they work. So even though they cost more I have been sticking with Canon cartridges.

Not too bad a price, but the printer sure does go through cartridges really quickly. I think i'll get a laser printer next time. Seems Canon set their printers up to 'dump' a lot of ink each time you turn it on. I can't believe that the lengthy cleaning cycle is really necessary.

It's good ink. The quality is good, but the ink doesn't last long enough. That is really my only complaint. I use draft quality all the time but it uses up so much ink. That's the only reason I don't give it 5 stars.

I know they are more expensive but in the case of ink cartridges I feel that you get what you pay for and in the many years I've used inkjet printers I've never had a problem with Canon cartridges. Getting the 15% off for being a Best Buy rewards member helps ease the pain at the checkout.

Having to supply my printer with two separate black ink cartridges and then not being able to print grayscale unless all 5 cartridges have ink is aggravating. I guess if you are buying this product you already have your pros and cons about the printer, but I needed at least 50 characters for the review.

While the Canon Printer always works well, it seems to go through these ink cartridges even if you don't think you've printed that many pages.. Also, your options are limited with most any ink cartridge, they are not easily refillable in many cases.. But they do the job when working properly.

We all know the drill, printer companies make their money on ink not on the sale of printers. You can spend more than the price of the printer on the first two full ink replacements. The ink works great and it makes beautiful photos but it's not worth what they charge even if it is on sale.

The best thing you can say when reviewing printer ink is it does a nice job. This ink, which I use in my Canon MG5120 printer, does exactly what it should do. It does an excellent job producing nice crisp black images, whether they are letters, numbers or images. I would not use any other ink.

Ink cartridge is small and high on the price range. It did not yield the printed pages as described. Fits my Canon printer perfect. The quality of my documents and photos is excellent. I love the ability to order online at BestBuy.com and all my ordered products arrive so quickly.

I have been using this ink cartridge now for about 4 years and it is a good thing that I get it at a discount to the list price as it does not last as long as the specs represent. This is not because of my printer settings either - I use economy settings 80% of the time.
