This lens is a must-have for the price. It’s incredibly lightweight and produces much sharper images than my kit lens. The f/1.8 aperture creates a beautiful blurred background that makes portraits look professional. It’s easily the best value in my camera bag.

Unbelievable image quality from this lens. Cannot believe how well priced it is— although I will say I have a preference for 50mm 1.2 if it’s within your budget

Works well, I expewcted it to be noisy based on other reviews but was nearly silent when I used it. It focus searches a little when attached to extension tubes (copying old negatives), but it gets there. A sharp lens.

This lens is great for the price! Take great pictures and it is easy to use once learn how to use a prime lens. The only problem I have is the auto focus is too noisy to be used for video. Overall, I will recommend this lens for anyone.

I had to replace my 50 mm lens. It took me a while to find a compatible lens for my camera. The lens arrived in a timely time frame. Easy to use. Easy to mount to a Canon D 40 camera. Very clear photos.

With this lens you can get a butter smooth background blur for under $150. While the aperture is wide open, there is some purple fringing, so I shoot around f2.8 to minimize the fringing while maintaining a nice background blur.

I do not know a lot about cameras, but this was a solid $100 investment for my wife's Canon Rebel T5. Pictures have a great look, and it is very easy to use.

Excellent image quality, compact form factor and affordable pricing, but with few minor issues with AF performance. Too be honest for the price you get a great lens. It works great in low light and produces sharp pictures. This lens is excellent in value for just above $100 and the new STM technology definitely makes focus noise quieter, but not as silent as 18-55mm, 55-250mm lenses. Pictures come out sharp and the new version has metal mount that makes the entire lens feel much more premium with a little more weight than the previous version. The 5-blade improved to 7-blades inside the lens and has a more pleasant coating on the lens which is supposed to make light flares nicer. I think it's a little odd that the filter size went from 52mm to 49mm, but no biggie.

This is an absolutely fantastic lens. I bought it as a gift for my 11-year-old daughter who is just got super into photography and sports photography and she absolutely loves it. It’s doing a great job and helping her out immensely. The price point is fantastic also. I would not hesitate to buy this lens.

This is my first time using a lens like this and I gotta say I love the shallow depth of field that it can give your pictures and the larger aperture that it has is also nice when shooting in lower light places.

For the price, you're getting a lens that will exceed the cost. The wide aperture will allow for better low light performance and the ever popular shallow depth of field. Great for portraits.
