I was 'up in the air' between the 7D and the 5D. Price comparison, if you don't mind not having 'full-frame', I'd go for this camera. The quality of the pictures is amazing...the detail is crisp. The menu can be slightly confusing but that will take a little time.

I upgraded from a Canon T1i to the Canon 7d. I had looked at several different DSLR's before settling on this one. Glad I did because it takes all the lens I used on my T1i. I was looking for a camera that would perform well in low light at a high ISO with little noise. This one fits the bill.
The learning curve was about a week, but after watching the video's and practicing, I'm very comfortable with the camera and how it operates.
The buttons on the camera are placed in good positions so you don't have to take yours eyes off of your subject, but can changes things (ISO, TV, AV etc.) on the fly.
I couldn't be happier with my purchase, Canon makes great products!

I have been using it for one month pretty good
it gives really good picture quality
But once I gave it to my friend they have difficulties to shoot with right focus. Generally this camera is good for professional shooting, not for newbies.

Great camera for the money. This camera has it all, quality, ease of use, good image size, great lens, and good battery life. The 18MP allows unsurpassed post photo op editing - even untouched the photos are fantastic.

Great beginning camera for a professional such as myself requiring both still images and video. It's durable, proficient, easy to use, and produces more than adequate material. Besides the lack of the full frame sensor and the fewer megapixels for still images (the 7D has 18 as opposed to the 5D's 22) I'm perfectly content with this camera!

When I bought this it seemed expensive but after using it for a month, it was a camera that lived up to it's value. The focus is great and allowed me to experiment with aperture. I take mainly portraits and the color calibration really reflects the printed picture form the screen of the camera. If you're a hobbyist or a beginner, this may not be for your since it's got controls and all sorts of functions not on the usual digital camera. But for everyone else, get it, because you will never regret the quality.

I upgraded from a Rebel purchased 5 years ago to the 7D and I haven't had any reason to regret the move. The overall function is much like that of the Rebel, while the additional features are easily understood and mastered after a brief review of the manual. The 7D allows a greater flexibility over my Rebel in low light situations permitting me a wider range of options. So far, no negatives.

I actually moved from a 5D MkII to this camera. With kids I found myself wanting the pop-up flash and a very fast autofocus. The 7D does not dissappoint and is an awesome camera. It was a great camera before but it's even better now with the new Firmware update.
You can't go wrong with this SLR...

Love the 7D Canon super sweet, It's still new to me, I love the way it feels in my hands, the way it takes pictures. How I can change the setting in a flash to get the right ex poser of what I am looking.

I purchased this camera to take the bulk load in my small wedding photography business. Since I got it, It hasn't rested. Its hard to stop shooting. The focussing is just so accurate.
The video is also great and i have added that aspect to my wedding DVD. I have once again become a sort after photographer. This camera brought the excitement back for me.

I am new to photography, but this camera has so many good features and it makes it easy. I had to read the manual for some features, but otherwise it was pretty easy to figure it out on my own. I LOVEEEEE IT.

It had come time to upgrade. I was weighing between this one and the 60D. after leaning that the 60D wasn't a magnesium alloy body like previous versions, I decided that the 7D was the way to go. I will admit, there is a small learning curve stepping up to this model from what I was using (Rebel T1i,) but after playing with it a little and reading the camera manual, I was able to just pick it up and shoot with it comfortably. The kit lens is pretty nice for an out of the box lens. It also is a macro lends too. Big bonus.
For those of you complaining that the pictures don't come out as sharp as the 60D or rebel series, you have to retrain yourself a bit. You went from a 9 point to a 19 point AF system, so you have to pay attention and think about your shots before you take them.
For those complaining about the weight, it's a magnesium alloy body. It is going to be heavier and it is that much more durable. Do some arm curls and wrist exercises and you'll be fine.
All and all, a great camera.

I got the 7D as an alternative to the 5D mostly due to the price. This camera has been able to do all that is needed and produces high quality video (primary use) and photos.

It has great robust, weatherproof body. Also, Canon 7D can shoot at 7fps which beats some of the latest models by Canon. The picture quality is superb even in low light conditions compared to Nikon D7000.
