    Got more than I expected

I moved from a 30D to the 7D in hopes of more room to crop in case I needed it and more ISO headroom. I got that and much more the dynamic range on the 7D seems to have increased to 3 stops above and below what you took the image originally at when using RAW format. Compared to my 30D it's almost DOUBLE the head room vs Noise when editting my images. Taking pictures in the full sun I no longer get images of silhouettes because the background was much more brighter than the foreground, instead I get slightly blown out background but I have a perfectly usable image of my subjects in front of me. A little editting in Photoshop and the images are golden. The autofocus is fast, the screen is bright and the 100% viewfinder takes a little used to when you're upgrading, you actually crop for what you see. Batteries are EXPENSIVE though compared to the comparable Nikon. I realized I didnt need video so buying it based on Video wasn't the best idea as its a great feature but hardly used. I paid a premium thinking I'd use it but not so. I could've saved a little and bought a D300s but making very large prints lately has been a blessing with the extra Mega Pixels. However the file sizes are devastating to my hard drive. And processing time takes a bit longer to load when editing in lightroom.

A quality camera with an awesome autofocus system.

Coming from a t3i, this camera is a beast. The 19 point focus points really help along with it's new autofocus system. The 8 frames per second is really snappy when taking wildlife or action sports. With this awesome upgrade, the weight difference is negligible once you get used to it. I wish canon switched storage card formats from CF to SD.

    A new breed of camera

After a few hundred shots I have come to grips with buttons and menues. The focus is very fast and have supported me well when shooting sports. I have always been using Canon, but when my interest and time for photographing recently increased I've been looking for a better alternative to my Canon 40D. I have had my eyes on the Nikon 300 until I saw the spec of the new Canon 7D. I'm glad I waited for the 7D to be available and didn't go for the Nikon 300. The Canon 7D gives me the versatility to shoot sport, landscape and portrait. Since I´m travelling around the globe in my proffession I have found the camera to be a little on the heavy side, but this is easely forgiven with the results I get from the camera.

Great Camera. Many bad reviews, typically from inexperienced users. The learning curve is not a fast one, but after a few months you wont even realize how much you have improved. Primarily used to shoot sports, I find it fast and the servo focus is actually great. Heavy camera so save up for a good tripod/monopod. Might also want to also have other EF lenses. Long Lasting Battery. HD Video will not record clips longer than 15minutes? Not very good Horizontal Panning in video mode. Does not come with CF card / HDMI cable. Lots of flexibility when choosing image save quality. Quick RAW+JPEG switching mode. Good ISO sensitivity. Pictures in low light are difficult but when done right look great. Strongly recommended.

    Phenomenal Camera

This is my first DSLR camera and I am blown away by it. It's a little complicated for a novice like myself, but once you figure everything out it takes phenomenal pictures and video. The lens that it comes with 25-135 is ok for a starter lens, but I've already found myself buying a couple of others to complement it.

    Canon D7 is awesome!

I upgraded from the 60d to the d7. Awesome camera great features. Only thing I don't like is you cannot upload to the cf must have a external reader/writer. Ok I lied I do wish it was full frame......5d mark ii is way more expensive... I opted for the body only and went with the 24-105 f4. Lens don't fool your self the glass is way more important then the camera. The only reason you would want to upload to cf card is to update firmware. Not needed for anything else. Camera has tons of custom settings and low noise at huh ISO.

This is a great camera for the semi-pro or intermediate photographer. It was a huge step up from my Canon Rebel XSi. High quality photos, very reliable, weather sealed for protection against dust and water. And very good HD video capabilities. Film makers are actually using the 7D to shoot movies and commercials. Black Swan was shot with the Canon 7D.

The camera is every thing you read about. I am still trying to learn all its features. Very solid, buy it is heavy. Allows fully automatic, really like the "custom automatic", where you can "tweak" the automatic. Menu's are easy to follow, the live mode view is great, you can even check if you camera is level.

I'll save you a lot of trouble, this camera is worth every penny. Add a SanDisk Extreme III 4GB (CF) card, it'll give you 999 pictures at the highest resolution. Haven't used video mode yet, probably will very rarely! Personally the provided 28-135mm lens covers all pretty well, though I see getting a 70-300mm later. Charge the battery in about 2 hours and SHOOT ON. This camera is so easy to use, only needed manual to reference what a button function is. Love this Canon EOS 7D.

Being a film SLR owner I've always liked Canon's quality. Currently have 2 Canon Point and shot cameras waiting to purchase a good DSLR. Even looked at some Nikon models. Very glad I spent a little extra for the EOS 7D. The lens that came with the camera is very versatile for every day shooting from wide angle, close ups , and telephoto. The picture quality exceeds the capabilities of my computer monitor. Print photos are stunning look like post cards. Save your money and purchase this camera you'll be glad you did.

I have taken about 200 pictures with it so far. The detail is impressive when you blow them up. I took most of them inside a building at night with available light. The image stabelizing lens made the difference. At 1/60 sec and f5.6, the images were very good. I am impressed. I still have not figured out a few features; but I will.

I want this camera so badly, having shot with the Canon 30d for a few years and having wanted to move up to the 50d this beast has been announced, it looks and sounds great, I cannot wait to get one in my hands to actually try. But the main point of my writing this is to say that this camera uses COMPACT FLASH and not SD or SDHC style memory card, so keep that in mind when you purchase. And if you wanna learn how to use it better ask a sales associate at your local Best Buy about a 1 on 1 training.

This camera is excellent for taking professional looking pictures! I went from a Rebel {which I loved} and would recommend this for those wanting to take that next step in photography. A bit more detailed in using it but once you learn the new functions it is still rather easy to use. Best Buy had by far the best price for this camera too! I LOVE it!

Finally a 7D in my Bag

I have had my eye on this camera since it came out a year ago and I am sure pleased with it. I have been shooting with a Rebel for 6 years so moving up was the right thing to do. The 7D is so easy to use and set up. It is heavy with the battery grip but it really feels like a solidly built camera. I really love the 19 point focus system, the focusing is so much easier to accomplish. Also looking foward to using the live view to achieve focus. This is an awesome camera period!

Amazing pictures even before any touch ups! I am so glad I invested in this camera even though it was hard to pay the price for this one! SO much quieter than my Xti. The 28-135 lens lets me take all the pictures I have attempted with no problems.

Canon 7D offers improvements over earlier models

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I have been disappointed at times with my 30D. The multiple frames per second has not caught all the action shots I want and the pictures are at times flat and lacking in contrast requiring editing. The 7D is lightning fast on the multiple frames feature and the photos so far offer better contrast.

    Best Canon Yet

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I am primarily a Nikon User and preferred Nikon cameras. The 7D is the best crop sensor Canon camera yet. After lagging behind for several years Canon has a camera that is very close to the Nikon D300 in still picture quality and features plus the 7D is way ahead of Nikon in video performance. 7D video is awesome!!! After reading of AF issues, I am happy to say my unit works perfectly.

This camera is truly amazing, but you should not purchase it if you are a beginner. There are functions that are manual that might confuse someone if they are trying to get into photography. I like this one better than the 5D Mark II so far.

This a great camera, if you cant afford a 5DMKII this makes a great alternative! This also makes for a great camera to use as a main and have a 50D or 40D as a backup! Overall superior quality, everything you have come to expect from Canon.

Purchased camera for starting my own business, was able to play around with a lot of the features fairly quick, especially with never owning a Canon of this "magnitude". I would suggest purchasing a book or two on it, if you are new to the camear world, just to get the ease of things, but have found everything ive needed it for easy to do, and work with.
