I have a 1D series body as my main, this camera is a great compliment to my existing kit. It produces great quality images for the price and compact size. The ergonomics are very well laid out and familiar for an existing Canon user.
Cons: Not as rugged as what I'm used to and the RAW files don't have as much depth either. That being said, for the price this is to be expected.
I attached a Lightroom processed RAW file shot with this camera, the EF adapter and a 50mm STM lens usinng studio lighting.

I was looking for a mirrorless that would support a shotgun microphone for filmmaking and vlogging and came across the Canon EOS M3. Does a better job than my Canon EOS T3i DSLR and is half the size. And when you get the bundle that has the Ef to Ef-m adapter you can use your lenses that you've already purchased for your Canon DSLR. Very pleased with the purchase and would recommend to anyone looking to increase portability from a DSLR but retain the same quality & features.

Great Mirrorless Camera for a Newbie to Mirrorless

I initially purchased this camera as an addition to my Nikon D70s, but more importantly, I purchased this camera because I wanted a smaller format camera to travel with that had all the capabilities as my larger format Nikon camera had. As a plus, this camera, also had features that I was looking for in a new camera purchase that my Nikon D70s camera didn't have. For instance, video shooting, touchscreen, WI-FI connectivity, a LCD screen that has rotation capabilities, were all major pluses in my book. The only downside is that I had a learn a whole new model - as I've been shooting with Nikon for YEARS. So, I was not use to my new Canon. But with some practice, YouTube videos and the user manual, I was able to get enough of a grasp of my camera. Though, I am still learning how to fully use it, I truly LOVE it. It is by far one of the best purchases I made for myself in a VERY LONG time.
The images are crisp. The videos this camera also takes are pretty great quality - though obviously, not the best if you are comparing it to devices designed for shooting movies / films / shorts, etc. However, for what I need it for, the video quality is great. My only complaint is that I wish when I took a picture during shooting a video that it didn't stop the video and include the sound of the picture being captured while shooting. If it was just a seem-less shooting even while taking pictures during shooting it would be absolutely amazing. Beyond that, I don't have much complaints with this camera. It is easy to use with some practice and most importantly, light weight.
I am a happy customer!

Good quality images from a small camera

Though I haven't had this camera that long I've been using it for the last six weeks exclusively. I own a Canon 60D and a S90 and wanted a smaller camera for traveling and hiking that had better image quality than my S90 and also had interchangeable lenses. I purchased the optional viewfinder which greatly improves usage in bright light. The images are pretty large so have a lot of space available for photo storage. I'm still not clear on why Canon chose the sRAW format since the RAW images are not readable by some software including older versions of Canon's own DPP! Lightweight and easy to use. Batteries don't last long and make sure if you buy aftermarket ones they display the battery meter.

I was looking at a new DSLR to replace an old Canon XTI .. I had bought a few good lenses for that camera back in the day and didnt want to give them up - so when I saw the M3 supported them with this adapter I was pretty happy to give it a try. Went to store and the camera felt nice with its EF-M lenses and with EF-S lenses too. I bought this kit and also the prime 22mm lens which is really great and compact (would be better if it had IS), the included 18-55 is very practical and with IS suits a lot of situations. If you are a canon fan and looking for a compact mirrorless body to use some ef-s lenses, this is a great option!

I own a Canon full frame DSLR, but sometimes it just didn't make sense to carry out. That's where this camera comes in. High quality pictures overall good performance, and access to thousands of lenses with the lens adapter.
Pros: Image quality, low noise high ISO, lens compatibility with quality adapter, extremely portable, fairly low cost.
Cons: No electronic viewfinder, and the add-on is way over priced. Noisy shutter with no quiet mode, and a tame 4.5fps Max shooting speed

So this camera is perfect for what I was looking for. After this I purchased a prime lense for it and so I have the best of both worlds. A small compact point and shoot. And a full size dslr. That I can attached my telephoto lenses to. The best part is being able to use the same camera for the everything.
Turns out I had to go back and forth with best buy. Because after my purchase I found I could get it about 150 less with Shipping tax and the eextended 3 year accidental warranty. From that a to z place.
My only complaint is that I had to go back and attempt to return it before someone at bestbuy offered to price match it.

This camera is my wife and I's first nicer camera. We wanted to get something lightweight, relatively inexpensive, yet high quality and this camera fits the bill perfectly. Add the 50mm 1.8 and you can not go wrong!

I am in love with my camera! I love that the screen flips to the front and that it can also be adjusted as you're taking shots from a lower or higher point of view. The 18-55mm lens that came with it is a good long lens for starters. The body itself is very light and i love all the features it comes with, including wifi! It was easy for me and my family and friends to practice using and it is definitely a camera worth buying. It really brings back my photography skills!

I chose this model due to the smaller size for my travels. I do have a DSLR, but wanted to reduce the bulk & weight of that for traveling without sacrificing the photo quality.
Before purchasing this mirrorless, I found myself using just my iPhone for pictures. Which is fine and all... but sometimes my iPhone just doesn't cut it.
So love the size of this, and appreciate having the adapter so that I can still use some of my other Canon lenses.
I am looking at getting some of the other EF-M lenses too.
I would definitely recommend getting the geek squad protection, as the viewfinder is only a screen that folds out. Seems like it might break at somepoint, but then again I am totally accident-prone.
Photos look great!

I purchased this camera as a second camera to be used primarily when in the back country, am tired of packing around a heavy DSLR. Although there are numerous limitations to mirrorless cameras at this stage I decided to stay with the canon brand so that I can use my older canon lenses. With the included M to EF adaptor I am able to save money on lenses and still have the versatility of my numerous EF lenses.
I would say that the M series lens that came with the camera is faster and quieter that the EF lenses and the camera works slightly better with them but not to the point that I can't get excellent pictures with any of the combinations that I used.
Overall I am pleased with the camera and would recommend it, although a buyer needs to be aware of the limitations the camera has. It is not fast as far as frames per second, and the auto focus is a little slow, but the image quality is good and the menus are easy to use and the camera works well for the type of photography I do. I am very pleased with the video quality. Although I don't have much to compare it to I have done some short video clips and think the quality of video is excellent for the price of the camera.

Too Slow...

I did some research, watched the video reviews, many said it was good, not great, and behind the times. I just purchased a Canon 80D from BB and love it. However, I wanted something I could leave on the table for fast spontaneous pictures or videos of my 2 year old son. I thought this would be an upgrade from my GoPro Hero5 but it wasn't.
The camera was slow to capture pictures, yet the video was okay. Here's what I liked. I enjoyed the lighter weight, the ability to use DSLR lenses, the adjustable screen to get better angles shooting video, the image quality, the build quality, the lens, a dedicated charger (unlike Sony's USB) everything but the slow processing and capture speed. While I enjoy shooting through a view finder, it wasn't a deal breaker.
I returned a Sony a6000 for this camera because the Sony felt cheap, like holding a tin Altoids container. The M3 felt strong, sturdy, comfortable, with a good weight to it. If not for the slow speed, I'd keep this camera. I ended up returning this camera and buying the new top of the line M5 from BB.
Would / should you buy this over a traditional DSLR? I wouldn't.

Pros: Interchangeable lens, selfie LCD touchscreen, wireless, NFC capability, on-board tilt-friendly flash, hot shoe mount, mic input
Cons: Still a bit too heavy but manageable, auto-focus is very slow and hard to configure at times, video quality is only up to 30fps on 1080p, need to make some adjustments as you can't use a mic and have the selfie screen up at the same time, battery life is very poor

I was skeptical when comparing this to the alpha. I gave it a shot since I have other canon lenses.
In a month of shooting. I love it. The weight. The feel. The speed. The ease of use. It's all excellent.
I'm not savvy enough to give a technical review, so I will leave that to the experts.

I really like this camera for taking photos where I don't want to carry all my gear. The only problem I have found is, the menu button is right where my palm lands. I will hit the menu button with my palm when I use one hand to take pictures. It's a little frustrating when you want to take a quick shot. The photo quality is good and with the size of the camera, it fits in my purse.

I got the last Canon EOS M3 bundle with the adapter at this store!!! I was looking for a beginner vlogging camera that won't break the bank but still is somewhat high res and will be compatible with my other canon lenses and this bundle was perfect at the time. Touchscreen, flip screen, shoots 1920 to 1080p videos, built in flash, lightweight, microphone jack, is what you are looking for? Then his is perfect for you!

I was wanting to upgrade from a Canon T1i to this mirrorless camera mainly because the size difference seemed like it would be a huge advantage over my dSLR. While the size is more portable, the ergonomics in the hand were poor due to the size/shape of the grip and it made my hand fatigue/hurt. I think a big part of this is because I was using this with the included Ef to Ef-m adapter so that I could use my existing lenses (ex. fixed 60mm lens) from my T1i on this camera. So with the added weight of the adapter, it made the camera unstable in the hand. If you are going to just be using this with native Ef-m lenses, then this may not be as significant an issue. However, the other disappointing thing was that the autofocus seemed quite slow compared to the T1i.
