It's a great camera. Eye focusing is nice feature. The touchbar is something that takes getting useful but you can deactivate if you don't need it. I use it to control my iso. It's basically a mirrorless 5DmK4 in terms of picture quality. Like the articulating back screen and viewfinder. Good camera for it's price point. Only disappointment is no 2nd memory card slot. I like dual saving just in case a card fails or to use one for video and 2 for pictures. No need to cheap out on this. Think it was purposely done so you'd but the more expensive R6 or R5 cameras.

I've had the camera about a month now. I'm a hobbyist and this camera is a bit overkill for that but it gives me the option to do things I couldn't do before with my aging 7D. Photography is a way for me to disengage from work. I like the low-light sensitivity and the articulated screen for when I need extra height while still composing a shot or for taking photos of items very low to the ground. The EVF has been great with no problems. I don't mind the touch bar on the back but I can see how others would be annoyed by it (I keep mine locked but otherwise controls ISO). Being able to do multiple exposures in-camera while seeing the "base" image on the screen and overlaying the next image on top has been very fun for experimentation. Since I'm not a pro, I'm not concerned about the lack of a 2nd card slot. Battery life has been great thus far. I also like that the EVF switches from the LCD screen to the viewfinder thanks to the little sensor below the viewfinder. RF lenses seem nice but they're expensive (again, I'm doing this as a hobby), so I like that the camera can take photos in a crop sensor mode even if those images are smaller (~12 MB). I've mostly used my Sigma 18-35 f/1.8 ART lens in crop sensor mode though it can be used FF at 35mm, and my Sigma 105 f/1.4 lens, which is amazing with this camera. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase. I considered a 5DMIII or 5DMIV but I'm happy that I paid a little less and got this camera instead.

    Amazing Mirrorless Camera

This camera blew me away with everything about it. I also purchased separately the mount for it with the focus ring and I use the focus ring to easily adjust the ISO and it's perfect. The camera is wonderful for all types of photography. I've used it for landscape nightscape weddings portraiture and much more and I love everything about this camera. The processing sensor is wonderful and all the controls are wonderful and easy to use. The only downfall to this camera as I am a professional photographer is that Canon did not supply this camera with dual card slot. With that only downfall I would definitely recommend this camera to anyone and everyone and I am looking forward to seeing what canon comes out with for their next mirrorless.

Purchased the R and been shooting daily with it using the adapter with the EFS 10mm-18mm. This set up produces 12 megapixels when using the photos (will be purchasing a wide angle once they release a RF wide)See sample shots below, so far I love shooting with the R. The video quality is prime and the low light is phenomenal. Don’t think just get it, mirrorless is the future

Like having a lighter Mark IV 5D, worth it if you can't afford the R5 or R6. Very user friendly and easy to use. Invest in L series lens and you'll be happy with the combo.

I upgraded from a Canon 80D and absolutely love this camera. I love the ease of Canon Menus and the camera feels great in my hand similar to the 80D. Produces great images and does much better in low light.

Many are very critical about this camera with it having only one memory card slot, having no in body stabilization. This camera isn't consumer camera, nor is it a professional camera. It is a very good in between camera, smaller and lighter than the 6D and 7D. The fact that you can have a native adapter for EF lenses makes it a great buy, you don't have to lose your lenses you already have. My camera works great with the adapter and my EF lenses, even better with my 28-70 f2 RF lens. There are tons of customizable buttons, buttons I use now more than my 5DIII and 6D. This camera is a great addition to my gear bag.

This is only my second Canon and first in the R series. I am very pleased with this purchase. It may not be the latest R, but is has the features I want in the price range I was willing to spend for an entry level R camera. Pics are great and video superb. Love I can charge the battery while in the camera - just be sure to use a powerful enough charger.

I spent many hours comparing the EOS R, Canons first mirrorless powerhouse, to Sony’s famous A7iii, and I decided the R was right for me. This camera is insane, photos are on point and video is so crispy it’s amazing. If you plan on shooting 4K all the time, then go with Sony. But if you’re a canon user, they make it very easy to use your old lenses with this new rf mount. I upgraded from a rebel t5i to an 80D to the EOS R and I couldn’t be happier. Best purchase of 2019.

I do more video work but I am a bit of a hybrid shooter. I have been shooting the 5d mark 4 as my "A" cam and a mark 3 as my "B" cam. This was a great second cam upgrade. You're basically getting a Mark 4 for a thousand or so less. With so other bonuses like 10 bit 422 external recording in both 4k and 1080. Yes there is a crop but it's basically super 35 and allows you to use ef-s lenses like the famous sigma 18-35 f 1.8. it would be nice to have full frame but when Canon has it right they will do it.
