This printer is the best printer I could find for the money and of course because I always try to do I got it on a major sale. It’s got way more features than I will probably ever need, but the main thing was the price per page for the toner, because ink cost has been the dirge of my existence and I’m done paying a ton of money for ink.
The manuals are very complete and very detailed which I love. Set up was a breeze and I was up and running in less than 10 minutes.
Very, very happy with my purchase of this printer.

It's been great. Quick, super handy to be able to print one or a bunch of sheets, automatically prints double sided to save paper, and because it uses toner, not ink, no need to worry about it drying out in between uses. The scanner is compatible with Foxit Pdf, so it's easy to scan documents in, quick to make copies, it's been very very useful for personal things, and it's been perfectly good for work things as well. The only thing I would want to add is the ability to print in color, but as rarely as I do that, it was worth the lower price to get just black and white, and print color at the library as needed.

Only been using it now for couple weeks for now everything is as it was advertised so far. would have gave it 5 stars but it's to early and it was more difficult to completely set up then it should have been. Their instructions are hideous flat awful and the manual what a joke that they send with it. Got on their website to print out complete manual for printer and it was 700 pages SO I PASSED. Another thing way to difficult to set up scanning that should have been way easier and quicker so if your catching on Cannon print a full proper owners manual for the machine in English.

Had this unit for almost a month.
Setup out of the box was very simple. It was configured as a wired printer shared between PC's and Mac. It took more time to go thru all the setup menus on the printer than to add printer to each computer.
Currently have the Printer and Scanner setup and using both paper supplies (tray and multipurpose tray) for double sided printing. Again no issues yet. It seems that I am not able to set to the highest level quality, will need to check if that is just a driver issue.
Nice to be able to scan both sides of the document at the same time. So far no issues with that either.
As time goes on I will update regarding the different apps and the FAX on the printer, as to their ease of use and quality.
All in all, setup very quickly and running smoothly at the moment.
This unit replaced a HP Laserjet 3600n. I do not miss going to a B&W laser printer, most of my printouts are monochrome documents. If I need color I will print using the inkjet.

Canon makes a very good printer and this one does a very good job as a printer. However, the scanning function is temperamental at times and not always reliable. I get error codes frequently when I try to “scan to computer” which are VERY annoying. The Canon tech folks have been excellent to work with both in setting up the printer and fixing the scanning issues each time there is a problem. However, the ongoing scanning issues are a real drawback in the product getting a 5 rating.

I purchased another brand laser printer HP 148 that lasted 32 days and I had problems. I had the Geek Squad Warranty on it. I returned the other printer and the Geek Squad was great. I ordered The Canon Image Class MF445dw laser Printer. The Canon Laser Printer was so easy to set up and the quality was Excellent. I also purchased the 4 year Geek Squad Warranty with this printer. I would recommend this printer to anyone who needs a great printer, this is for you. Thanks Geek Squad.

A nightmare trying to pair this with my Mac.

I have tried all of the following methods to get this printer to pair wirelessly with my Mac, none of them successful: using the CD that comes with the product, downloading the most recent software directly from their website, and spending an hour and a half on the phone with Brother tech support (The two test scans we did worked at the end of that phone call, then immediately stopped working right after I hung up the phone). Getting to tech-support at brother is routinely an hour or so wait time, and I knew that working with them would also require at least an hour. They are only open on weekdays during business hours Eastern standard time, so being on the West Coast and working during the week, by the time I had a 2 1/2 hour chunk of time during the hours they were available, the opportunity to return the product had already passed.
For a hot minute, I figured out la workaround that actually seemed to function OK. But today it doesn’t, so I am back at square one. I will probably just give up on trying to do things wirelessly, and hope that a USB cord will fix the problem. The wireless set up for Mac gets a zero in my book, because it flat out doesn’t work.
I haven’t really had a chance to try out the other features of the printer very much, since this has gotten in the way of my using it. The printing and scanning speed seem pretty good, but that’s about all I can tell so far, and it is small consolation for being stuck with a product that doesn’t work the way it is supposed to.

Not being a Tech guy (at least in this), I thought the set up instructions were extremely complicated and it took me a while to muddle thru my mind and playing with it to figure it out. Now that I’ve done so, the machine pretty much does all that we wanted it to do (black & white, can print, scan and copy from iPhones and or computer). And it also can Fax. As I look back, the instruction don't have to be that complicated.

This printer is a great hard working machine. It copies, scans, and prints with no troubles. It also works wireless. Great for everyday printing where you don't need color. We had Best Buy Tech Services set it up and I'm glad we did because they cleared up a number of problems at the same time with no additional cost. Purchased it almost two years ago and it is still running strong!!

Nice laser printer. The good: Easy to connect to mobile apps and computers to print
The Bad: this thing is impossible to connect as a wireless scanner. It should be able to scan and send your document as an email. Good luck figuring it out. You need an advanced degree in IT! I've followed their online guides & YouTube clips. Nothing works.
So for now we continue to use an old multifunction that scans wirelessly directly to our computer.

This is our second Canon printer and both have been excellent performers. The only reason we replaced the first one is that it could not be networked in all honesty. Canon printers seem to be real workhorses and from our experience the only maintenance we have ever required is changing the toner cartridge when it was depleted. I have read other reviewers reports that the printer was hard to set up but in my honest opinion if you are tech savvy at all, the set up was very simple and straightforward. I do recommend doing just a basic set up and then finishing off any tweaking you would like to do to the settings and menu items through the system web interface.

Switching from an ink jet to the laser printer made me realize how much money i was wasting on ink cartridges. This Canon prints fast, clean and clear...no smudges, no more “low ink” notifications.

Printer provides great quality prints, scanning to file is easy to set up with a few online searches on how to do so, since the instruction manual is unclear. Great for use as a home office printer given the current pandemic. Copies and scans are great as it offers duplex scanning and duplex printing.
