Customers are saying

Customers often highlight the PowerShot 8.0-Megapixel Digital ELPH Camera's excellent picture quality and ease of use. Many appreciate its compact size and the range of features it offers. However, some users point to limitations in the zoom capabilities and battery life as potential drawbacks. The camera's performance in low-light conditions and the clarity of images viewed on a computer versus the camera screen were also mentioned as areas needing improvement.

I just recieved this camera today for Christmas and I absolutely love it. Canon Powershot is a good brand and they are such high quality. The only thing that is negative about this camera is that some of the pictures look a lot clearer and better on the camera screen than on a computer. Overall, it's amazing.

    Wonderful camera

This is a great little camera. Overall I am very happy with it. I bought this camera for keeping with me at all times, and being able to take great indoor shots. My other camera, Sony DSC-T200, takes phenomenal outdoor pictures, but grainy, noisy indoor pictures. So, I bought this Canon, and the quality of the indoor pictures is wonderful - I only see noise on a few of the shots! I have tested a few other cameras in this price range, and this produces the best indoor photos, no contest. The stability feature works well, anyone who has used this camera has produced a clear photo, even if their hands are unsteady! Also, the brown color is much richer, and has beautiful burgundy undertones - see it in person, it's gorgeous! It's a very sophisticated looking camera. PROS: - small, but still comfortable to hold - easy to use controls - indoor photos and macro photos are excellent - battery life is good, even when using the zoom a lot - flash is good, not too bright CONS: -outdoor photos taken when facing the sun tend to make objects in the foreground too dark (but this is fixable via photoshop) - no internal memory So, if you're looking for a compact point and shoot camera that will consistently take good photos, this is the camera for you!

First, ill start with my only con, ths camara is shy on the zoom, only packing 3X lens zoom, plus some digital zoom, although for a camara this size, im fine with that. As far as all of the good stuff, this camara is an excelent deal for the price, the resolution can be set far above most computer monitors, so most likely, you wont even be able to veiw the photos in they're full glory until better monitors come out. The size is perfect, just a little smaller than a deck of cards, and the weight is about that as well. I just love this camara, the color of this version is awesome as well, i like it far better than the silver or any of the other colors out there. As far as color quality on the pictures, it is very nice, not professional, but far better than any other camara i have tried in this price range, so its very good, along with being very sharp with such high resolutions. The feature i like most about this camara is the widescreen mode, you can take pictures in widescreen at a resolution of 3264 x 1832 which makes for very nice pictures. Overall, i highly recommend this camara to anyone, so far all my pictures are nothing short of sharp, vivid, and very lifelike, which is what i have come to expect from cannon. I also highly recommend this over any Sony camara. Msholly

    Great little camera

The pros and cons say it all. We upgraded our small portable from a Nikon Coolpix to this one, and from day one, we haven't looked back. Our "other" camera is a Canon Digital Rebel, but that is too much camera to carry around for an everyday camera. The SD1100 was a breeze to use, right out of the box. We had a race to see if she could find it in the book before I could figure it out on the camera. I usually won, though the manual is really good. The LCD is bright and clear, even in daylight, and great pictures come out without much work. I bought the brown because it was on sale for $20 cheaper than the other colors. It's the same camera - buy the color that's on sale... The only con is that the Coolpix used a 2xAA-sized battery, so if it died you could replace it with off the shelf batteries. The SD1100 uses a Canon battery and charger that I can't lose. That is the only con.

    Great Compact for All Consumers

I really love my Canon SD1100! I own a Canon Rebel DSLR, and needed a compact so I didn't look like a dork taking pictures in public. My compact does everything I want it to. It takes great pictures - I even got some great pictures on the 4th of July of fireworks with the 1 sec shutter delay. The color accent mode is definitely my favorite. I use that feature a lot; it sets this camera apart from all other cameras in its price range. The only con is the lack of zoom, but you can crop pictures on the camera, so I don't mind too much. With 8 MP, I can sacrifice some quality to crop the picture. This is a great camera for people ages 16-25 who want neat features and style, yet still good, quality pictures. I highly recommend a high speed memory card (Sandisk Ultra II) with this camera.

    Good choice

Overall I am very pleased with this camera, I would argue that in the ultra small point and shoot category you won't find a better option when examining picture quality, features, ease of use and build quality...this camera just feels good in your hand, very solid. My only minor issue is the shutter speed on certain settings. Maybe I am just used to the shutter speed on our Nikon D-SLR's but I would like to see just a little bit quicker shutter speed, I should note this Canon's shutter speed is much better than any of the Nikon, Casio, and Sony ultra compact point and shoots I tried. I know some reviews of this camera mention the battery life is rather short but I honestly haven't seen this as an issue. If your looking for a camera to put in your pocket and take with you everywhere that gives great image quality (compared to other compact point and shoots) this one is certain worth looking at.

This is a great camera for the casual photographer -- it's easy to use, compact and stylish. I was hesitant about the brown, but having seen the others, this was by far my favorite. So far I've taken about 200+ photos and I've been pretty pleased with the results. I am by no means an expert photographer, but I do use my digital camera regularly and am really pleased with this purchase.

    TAKE TIME TO READ MANUAL

    Posted .

A few of my co-workers bought this camera about 6 months ago for 249.00 and loved it. I waited until it went down to 179.00 with 4GB card included and pulled the trigger. ( I see it is now at 149.00, who knew?) I tried just pulling it out of the box and taking pictures. Well, it is not that kind of camera. Unless you are used to camera functions, you need to read the manual for settings. I love the camcorder feature and used it at Christmas and my playbacks looked great on the view screen, but were awful on my computer, very grainy. It may be me and my inexperience, but I was disappointed. Perhaps with more time and patience, things will improve. I may have bought more camera than I should have. Beautiful color!

I love this camera! It upholds the great reputation of Canon Powershot cameras, and adds the new shape and appearence. I am very happy with this product, and will definitely recommend it to friends. Also, the fun, easy to use features like Color Accent and Color Swap give it a little something extra that I appreciate.

I really love this camera. I decided to get it after my old camera totally failed and the LCD screen cracked, so I couldnt see what I was taking a picture of, which is why I love the fact that this camera has a viewfinder (just in case). I also really love the color accent feature - I had played around with it on a friend of mine's Canon and it's one of the main reasons I got this one. This picture quality is great, not professional or anything, but Ive had no problems sticking it in the case and tosing it in my bag and out the door, and it always seems to come in handy for taking pictures and videos of my crazy friends and family. All in all, it's a best camera Ive ever owned. The only one tiny thing I dont like is that it doesnt take AA batteries, because usually I forget to charge it, and instead of just opping in new batteries when it dies I have to take it home and charge it, although battery life is pretty good.

Very easy to use camera once you get thru the manual. Some of the settings are for more advanced picture takers, but the auto settings can make anyone a great picture taker. The image stability is beyond great and one of the main reasons we bought this camera. No matter how fast our children move the images are never blurry. Some of the bonuses features are fun and easy to use as well (remove color, swapping colors, trimming pictures, etc.). The viewing screen is nice and large. For the size and the price I would recommed this camera to everyone.

    Great Point and Shoot

The camera itself is beautiful. It takes great pictures and with the right options, even dimly lit areas come out looking nice. For a point and shoot camera, you can't go wrong with this Canon. This is great to bring along everyday for those random moments you just need a camera. I'm looking forward to trying it in concert/live performance type situations. My only problem is that I just can't find a good case for it.

    Great camera until...

I have had this camera for five days and have loved every minute of it. However, just today I went to turn it on and the lens wouldn't come out, giving me an error on the screen. I kept turning it on and off waiting for it to work, and about three hours later it did. But now I'm wary. I looked at reviews to see if this was a common problem and so far I seem to be the only one experiencing it (I looked at Amazon.com too). I'm planning on taking it back tonight, and I don't care if I have to pay a restocking fee (because it started working again), but I'll exchange for the same model. Hopefully I just got a defective one.

even though it took a while to get the hang of it, it payed off getting this camera compared to the others offerered. It's not too complicated, which is good because i'm not that great with technology. Even though the first store I went to didn't have the color i wanted they told me another one did. It was well worth the trip to get exactly what I wanted!

This is a fantastic camera. It does everything that several of the more expensive cameras do and produces great photos even for a photography novice. It is really a great buy. I did my research before buying this camera and It has lived up to all of the hype.

I just got this camera for my birthday and I have been very impressed with it's capabilities and design. The brown has a very nice faded tint to it that goes well with the overall shine, the pictures are clear, and the image stabilization is really nice when you are taking any kind of moving picture. My sister bought the cheaper Canon which actually has a larger screen, but she had to sacrifice some important features like size and IS.
