The Best Compact camera available.

I've owned, HP, Sony and Olympus cameras, and although they were all great, the Canon SD series is awesome! Easy to use, great screen, downloading pics to a PC is super easy, the menu is intuitive... the best I've seen out there. The video quality is pretty good, the battery lasts a long time. My 8 and 4 year old kids uses the camera all the time as well. I'll often start it up and see videos they've directed and produced with their cousins, music videos with their dolls, and pictures of everything from animals to flowers. Did I say Great Bang for the Buck?

Really nice camera

The camera is great - takes great pictures, easy to use, nice size. We had problems with the software Canon included. It installed on a Sony Vaio laptop (Vista Home Premium) but it wouldn't talk to the camera.
The installer got hung when I tried to install it on an HP Pavilion desktop (Vista Home Premium). Canon's online support was responsive but they didn't quite seem to understand the software issues. They presumed the disk was defective and sent me a new disk - unfortunately for a different camera model.
Great camera but use your own photo software.

Great point and shoot

What a user friendly point and shoot camera. I normally use a Canon Digital SLR and have had a Sony point and shoot, which I was quite happy with, but after having used this, the Sony has remained in the drawer.
It's fantastic to slip in your pocket and go out partying. A lot easier than lugging around a SLR, but with a lot of usable features found on the SLR's. The colors are pretty true, and the pictures are pin sharp 98% of the time
I have found that it is a little bit small in my hands, and that there aren't any ridges or areas that act as grips for fingers, but this is minor and doesn't deter from the quality of picture that it can produce.
If you are looking for a great compact point and shoot, this is definitely a model to consider.

Powerhouse!!

This SD1100 might be Canon's best little digital Elph yet. The image quality is superb and the handling great. So there are not manual controls...save them for the SLRs out there. This camera does what it promises...takes great photos with little to no experience needed in the user. The image stabilization, LCD, picture modes, and the fact that it does have a viewfinder make this little camera a virtual powerhouse. The size is perfect for back pockets and the color choices are icing on the cake!

I love this camera. This is my second digital camera (my first was a Kodak EasyShare) and I love it much better than my first. I have had it for over a year, and the battery still works great. I rarely have to charge it. Also the quality of the pictures are phenomenal. My boyfriend bought one for his best friend and mom as well because I liked mine so much. It's small and durable. I carry it in my purse (which I drop and do God knows what else with), and it is still in great shape.

Great Little Camera

I bought this camera after doing research on Consumer Reports. This camera was highly rated and after using I can see why. I needed something small in size as I have another Canon with a larger optical zoom but it doesn't easily fit in a purse. This litte camera takes great pictures and I've compared quality between the 2 cameras and have found no difference. I'm impressed and would recommend this camera to anyone wanting something that easily fits into a purse or pocket.

This is the best camera I have ever had! It takes clear pictures every time. Sometimes you might have to change the setting to have the picture come out right, but once you find the right setting the pictures are amazing! It fits in you pocket or small purse, so you can take it everywhere you go, so you can capture every memory! I highly recommend buying this camera, you will not waste your money or regret that you spent it!!! :)

Awesome Pocket Shooter

A very convenient camera to capture the moment. It starts fast and lets you snap a picture quickly. In addition to quality still pictures, I've also used the video mode quite a bit. I use it to coach and provide instant feedback to athletes. For a pocket shooter, this is my camera. The optical viewfinder comes in handy in low light when you don't want a bright LCD shining, or when taking shots on the beach in direct sunlight.

I really do love my camera. I also like having the accidental damage insurance because I feel more secure in using it all the time. The camera takes excellent pictures and I have only had a few blurry, which is most likely my fault for not having it on the right setting for the type of picture I was taking. The only bad thing is the battery. I did not pay attention to what kind of a battery it takes and I would much rather have it taking AA then a special battery because you can get AA pretty much anywhere. Also it costs a lot to get an extra of this battery. This is the only disadvantage I have found.

Good camera

If this was the average persons first camera then it will be there last. Easy to use, compact, feature rich. However, what most first time digital camera buyers don't always know that more isn't always better. For example. 4 to 6 megapixals works out well if you are going to be uploading and downloading the photos across the internet. 10 megapexals times (X) 50 photos equals a long time uploading and unless you are going to make a wall murial then you won't see a difference. $50 of the price of the camera is for the extra megapixals that most of us won't use.

One of my best purchases Ever

This has been one of my best investments. The camera is very light weight, takes wonderful pictures, very portable and handy and above all very easy to use for everyone.
It has a very good battery life, comes with good photo editing software and is reliable.
The only downside is the flash does not always work great and you need to adjust it manually from time to time.

Great Quality Photos

I love to do scrapbooking, but I am not an expert on taking professional pictures. I wanted something easy with a great quality photo. This camera does all that and for an affordable price. I paid half of the amount for this camera than I did for my old digital (5yrs. ago) and it also has a lot higher mega pixel which will produce a better quality picture.

Really a great purchase for what you are paying, the camera has a high quality of functionality & durability, heavy-duty battery, fast shatter-timing & easy to carry .
Just could be lighter but it's comfortable to carry & slip it in your pocket ,the lens does great job however the outdoors options could be better, overall , I DEFINITELY recommend it .

Perfect for a family on the move

Prior to this camera, we had a bulky Fuji digital camera. That was a nice camera, but with our young family, it was never easy to carry that camera with us to catch those special family moments. This Canon fits perfectly in a pocket and can be put to use at a moments notice to catch the little ones either doing something really cute or really bad.

i love this camera!! i also own an earlier version of the powershot but found it bulky so i saved up and bought this one because of its look (although they say not to). i am pleased with the performance (which is more than i need to upload pictures online) and the really easy ways of doing everything. it looks great and is really handy!!!!

Excellent Digital Camera

This is my 3rd digital camera, and the most expensive one I've bought and the best out of the 3. The only downside I have is when taking pictures in the Normal mode, I can't get a good picture to turn out. Need to have it in Auto mode. The audio/video recording is spectacular quality, almost like you're using a camcorder to record the fun

I have always liked Canon brand better than any other brands. I used to have Sony but the quality is bad. I decided to buy Canon because my friend used it and the results are very good. It's just that this camera's night shot does not come out too clear as my friend's Canon Power shot series A. It came out dark taken at night while my friend can still see the object with her series A. I will still recommend this but maybe it's just needs more exploration and learning for us to use it.

Good point and shoot camera with the ability to manually set some functions for those hard to get situations. Imagine stabilization works very well. Surprisingly good pictures for such a compact camera. However, if you desire extremely detailed pictures need to move up to Canon's larger cameras which far surpass this model.

I have had this camera a year now and am continuously impressed by it. The ease of use is incredible and so is the picture quality I get. I love that I can immediately see if a picture has been too exposed, and I love the different modes for shooting as well. Even uploading and sharing video clips is simple!

I bought this camera right before a trip to New York and figured out the features on the plane. Perfect for someone like me who isn't great with cameras and doesn't ever seem to use or understand what all of the different functions are. Takes clear pictures and shutter time is quick! Love it overall!
