Overall, I love the camera. I just wish the recording would let me go over 23 minutes when I am trying to do a video.

Long time Canon fan, have many cameras from Canon. This one is to use when I don't want to carry my DSLR and lenses. Got this for the lens speed 1.8 Fstop wide open and decent zoom range. Pictures tell the story so take a look. No modifications straight from camera but resized for the review.

Drove 5 hours round trip to pick up a camera before trip, the condition was open box good which I confirmed meant in good working condition before purchasing. When I arrived the camera was in a plastic bag with tons of scratches and dents and the entire screen was ripped off from the camera, the lens was broken and stuck out. It was completely unable to use. To say I was beyond disappointed doesn’t even begin to explain it. They then tried to sell me on a video camera to make up for it. This camera looked like it was thrown off a bridge.

I originally purchased a mirrorless DSLR as I am going on a trip later this year, but after evaluating the package decided to go with this camera instead. This was due to smaller size for travel, previous reviews and performance. The camera does not possess a electronic viewfinder, but for what I am going to use it for it should be fine. Also note that the camera does NOT have the ability to be water resistant nor is the lens protected when the camera is open. If you want to use it wet weather or even underwater there is an optional external case you can buy from Canon but it is expensive. A better option if you are going to use it outdoors is the Canon GX3 which is weatherproof but an older camera and is more expensive and is quite a bit larger. The lens protection problem can be accomplished with a lens filter adapter from Lensmate and a UV filter mounted on it. The adapter and 3 filters is available in a kit and is around $55. Do this to protect your lens, but it does add some thickness to the camera (livable). Better to destroy a UV filter than your lens!.Overall a great camera so far and takes great pictures, allows many of the manual controls that the less expensive point and shoots do not have, but is also a good beginner camera as it basically is a point and shoot out of the box. A big bang for the dollar! I have not had this camera long, so the long term jury is out, but so far, so good!

This camera was releasing on June 9th, but I didn't see any availability online. It was on and off with the pre-order button, so I decided to click on the pre-order on June 10th, and I received my G7X Mark II on June 14. After that, it was "sold out online" until June 18th(today). I love this camera, it has all the function that I need. I was planning to get the G7X two weeks before this camera came out, but finally heard this one is releasing, so I decided to wait for the upgrade. It is a very easy to use camera for beginning. The only thing bothers me is the battery cover, it doesn't close when u push it back to close, you have to use both hands to close the battery cover. other than that, I love this camera and I will use it for more videos for my vlogs.

I would chose 5 stars because it’s amazing quality, light weight, compact size, and ease-of-use would be 5 stars. However, you can’t hook up an external microphone, and the auto focus blurs out fairly often when filming up close ... but it has auto lock which should keep that from happening for most needs.

We began purchasing Canon Powershot cameras back in 2003 with the A series and have been through six - upgrading each along the way. In general, we love the Powershots and how well they hold up. I take a lot of pictures and have taken in excess of 75,000 pictures on each of the cameras before we upgrade. Prior to this purchase we were using the G15 and I didn't think it could get any better, but the G7 Mark II has completely impressed me. Out of the box, it is smaller and lighter than the G15 and other Powershots that came before. I have been a fan of the flip and twist LCD but I realize it adds bulk. The new flip up design of this LCD is surprisingly useful and they still managed to package it into a smaller case. In general, the shooting options seem identical to the prior versions but seem more accessible as they are easily selected either by dial or touchscreen. There are also some great bonus features like face recognition with identification that allows for data to be imprinted into the file for future searching. As I have come to expect from Canon, the picture quality stands out. I have especially been impressed at the low light capabilities. In fact, I am learning to "trust" the camera more and more as I play around with situations in which I would expect to need a flash and yet the camera doesn't indicate the need. You virtually always get a better picture when you don't have to rely upon a flash and this camera allows you to to get those pictures more often. In summary, I highly recommend the G7 Mark II to anyone looking for the convenience of a point and shoot but still wanting the ability to create high quality photos.

It's all the most useful functions of a DSLR in something that you'll use for settings where you never use a DSLR. The lens range is excellent, the image stabilizer is useful, the controls are familiar and fantastic if you're already a user of a Canon DSLR. I have a 6D for my usual camera, but I like this because I bring it places and take pictures with it that I just don't get with the 6D. In all fairness I've only gotten to use it a few times due to COVID which is a shame. Its portability gives it a near-zero footprint on your body (I bought a tiny lowepro case for it) but it takes pictures like a DSLR, and its unassuming size makes it excellent for candid situations. I used it for a nerd convention in january, where I would usually bring a DSLR and leave it in my hotel room the entire time because I don't feel like lugging it, but that wasn't the case here. I took more pictures than I've ever taken at such an event, and got pictures that I never took with a DSLR or cell phone in the same kinds of environments. The sensor is a bit noisy, but that doesn't bother me. Dynamic range is excellent well into the high ISOs, with highlights looking bright and organic. The range of the aperture and focal lengths are superb, though I probably used it the most at the fully-wide 24mm-equivalent end. The built in lens profiling is fantastic, no geometric distortion that stuck out to me at any focal length. Controls are great, I used it on manual with auto ISO, and used the exposure comp dial to compensate for dynamic situations. It's the best example of a camera for candid, non-studio, organic settings, and I think any DSLR user would find themselves saying many of the same things. You just use it for things that a DSLR won't do as gracefully. Battery life is pretty good from full, but the meter does seem to fall much faster from halfway to zero than it does from full to halfway. Being able to charge via microusb is useful (especially if you have a usb powerbank) but for some reason you can't shoot while it's charging, so keep that in mind. Battery life is probably the only real caveat overall, though if you're prepared for that it isn't hard to keep up with at all, and I wouldn't trade that for its size and usability

Great camera for pictures and 1080 p HD video. Love how compact it is so it's easy to carry everywhere. Quality is amazing and it's simple to use. Camera has great little tutorials to teach you about the different functions. I would definitely recommend this camera for the price point. The flip up screen is a huge benefit too and I love the touch screen.

I bought a Canon G7X Mark ii camera because it sounded like the perfect camera for what I needed. I wanted a camera that was small and compact, but I didn't want to sacrifice on picture quality. I really enjoyed the camera and found it to be super easy to use. The only issue that I had with it was that it didn't have all of the functionality that I wanted in a camera that was THIS expensive. I ended up returning the camera and buying a Canon M5 Mirrorless camera instead. While that camera is definitely quite a bit bigger than this one, the lenses are interchangeable and it suited my needs better. But I am still giving this camera 5 stars because I think that it works beautifully for someone who just wants a point and shoot camera that works without needing much thought or effort. It is small and lightweight, takes nice photos and videos, and is easy to use. It's also nice to be able to see yourself in the screen above the camera if it is pointed back at you. Great buy, especially if you don't need the bells and whistles of a more advanced camera!

I finally found a point and shoot camera that I love! This is the perfect camera to travel with. I recently took it on a trip where I visited a lot of museums and insides of churches (low light environments). I took about 5000 pictures! It worked very well in low light situations and captured images that I could not have gotten with other cameras since it goes down to a 1.8 aperture. (I think my Rebel with its kit lens would not have been able to capture the pictures that I took with this little camera.) It worked great in the sun, too. It has a special scene mode called "hand-held night" that captured beautiful night images--even through a bus window while moving. I found the battery life to be very good. I have it set to ECO mode in the menu. I brought 4 batteries with me, but never needed more than 2 batteries in a day. It is small enough to fit in my fanny pack or shoulder bag yet has a good solid feel. The only thing missing is a panorama mode. I mostly left it on Auto or P mode and had peace of mind knowing it was probably going to get the shot. It had trouble with selfies--either the person or the background would be out of focus. You can fix this by putting it on Av mode and picking a small aperture. It cost a lot of money, but well worth it.

Originally I wanted a camera with interchangeable lens but wanted something smaller and more affordable so I went to the Canon G7X Mark II and I'm glad I did! This is an amazing little camera with auto and manual functions. The photo quality is amazing! I've gotten so many compliments on my photos. This camera is really good in low light situations and the photos still come out bright when in reality the environment is pretty dark. I would definitely recommend this camera with beginners and even for professionals as their secondary camera.

This camera's quality is amazing! I love how well it takes pictures because when I edit them, they're still great quality and look good. It's pricey but so worth it. I also love that the screen flips so I can record or take pictures on my own. I do a lot of traveling and blogging so when I don't want to use a DSLR camera, this is my go to! Super easy to take in my purse. The one thing that I had issues with at first was getting the flash to manual because automatic doesn't do the best job turning flash on in dim lighting. Flip the flash up, take camera off auto mode, and click the lightning bolt to turn on flash manually.
