My Favorite Lens - Sharp, Lightweight, Fantastic

This was my first "L" lens for the Canon EOS R. I've been wanting a telephoto lens with a little bit of reach and settled on this 70-200mm RF lens. I decided to go with the RF because I feel as if the RF mount is the future in the Canon line. This is the f/4 so not as fast, but it is a constant aperture through the entire focal length. I usually use this in bright/daylight conditions, but let me tell you, this lens is super sharp, the colors are great, and lightweight. It balances well on the camera body. I know a few people complain about the lens being external zoom, but it doesn't sway my decision. I've taken pictures with this lens in windy beach conditions with sand flying in my face, through dusty, smoky, and foggy conditions, and this lens has held up well. It is water/weather resistant, and have taken it to the lake and the dog park with muddy water splashed on it, and still looks good as new. I would suggest picking up this lens if you have an RF mount, looking for a medium telephoto with the 70-200mm focal length, don't care about having fast aperture, want a sharp lens, and want to save some money compared to the f/2.8. You can save some more money getting a used EF mount version, but I think the RF is definitely worth the money. Pictures below.

    Go with the F4

I recently purchased the RF 24-70mm F2.8 L series lens for my R6ii and have had such amazing results I wanted to add the 70-200mm. I went with the F4 because I don’t need the 2.8 and couldn’t justify the huge difference in price. The results are as sharp as the 24-70 F2.8. I can’t tell the difference between the two with shots taken at 70mm. It’s much lighter than I expected and I find myself using it more than thought I would.

Got this lens to shoot longer distances for an event on short notice and was worried about the aperture but it did NOT disappoint! The sharpness offered is amazing and the focusing is really quick to my surprise. I thought the aperture was going to be a problem for me knowing the f2.8 model exists but it does a great job with the depth at higher focal ranges. For the value and opportunity over spending double this amount for the next step up I feel has a lot of potential to still be put to use really well and the build quality feels great while staying truly compact for its capability

Sharpness, fast focus, silent, compact and quality built are the hallmarks of this lens. It is about half a price than that its brighter 2.8 counter part, but for the price this lens is awesome. The bokeh on shallow depth of field focus is very pleasing to the eyes. As an avid photographer, the price of this lens is a tough bill for me to swallow, but the joy of using and seeing the pictures that this lens produces have won me over. It surely worth it to me.

Incredibly compact and lightweight! Blazing fast autofocus and silent!! Absolutely love this lens on my EOS R6. I primarily use this lens for landscape and wildlife. This lens easily fits in my backpack mounted on the R6 and doesn’t weigh me down on long hikes. Such a superb choice over the EF counterpart with adapter. Don’t hesitate, buy it.

The Canon RF 70-200mm F4 L IS USM is a fantastic telephoto zoom lens designed for EOS R-series cameras. It offers exceptional image quality, a compact and lightweight design. While F4 isn’t as fast as F2.8, it’s still a fantastic option for hobbyists who want a high-quality telephoto lens without the extra weight and cost of the F2.8 version.

Recently stepped up my photography game & this lens was the perfect touch! It gives me just enough distance for crisp surprise proposal shots without having to immediately switch it as i get closer. Its light weight and fits perfectly in my bag or a fanny pack for easy access. I am thrilled that it came with a lens hood & padded, suede, pouch to keep it safe when not in use. Great purchase!

Compact, light, quick focus & reasonably bright f4 aperture make a perfect travel lens ideal for landscape & portrait. I traded in a heavy Canon 100-400 ii telephoto lens for the RF 70-200 F4 & an very happy game did after a recent family vacation & during walks through the woods. It’s light & petite

I researched both this lens and the 2.8 and ended up saving the $900 for the f4 and I’m quite satisfied. The slightly smaller size is a big plus for my bag and carrying out to locations. The interior side of it is good, but not my main focus of this lens. I do more landscapes and can’t wait to take it out next week to Lookout Mountain.

i was hesitating on buying this lens. i have the 24-105mm f4 and i hardly ever use it because it’s too wide not enough zoom, bla bla bla…. this lens is something else though. your subject will appreciate you not being so close to them and you still have all that zoom for close-up shots. the bokeh is really good at 135mm to 200mm. it does such a good job at seperating your subjects from the background.

I love this lens, I purchased it because my son plays football and I wanted higher quality pictures and videos. I was tired of paying a professional to take pictures and videos, so I became the professional for him. I have attached a few pictures of what I was able to capture using this lens.

Great lens. I use this with a Canon EOS R6. The smaller aperture can be a challenge to deal with sometimes. However, the quality of photos that come out of this is impressive and the light weight of the lens is nice as well.
