I initially bought the 1st Gen product and quickly found myself regretting it (I wrote a review on it). Returned the 1st Gen immediately after I found out the 2nd Gen was pending release. This new version fixes many of the issues with the prior version and adds new (useful) functionality by supporting various apps available for download on the apps store. One complaint I have is that the adapter appears to maintain its bluetooth connection with my phone even after the car is off and the Automatic app is closed. The real usefulness of this tech will come from it's interoperability with different apps as they become available.

Tracks wonderfully, but docks points for hard accels, brakes, and minutes over 70mph!? Wtheck, my work commute the speed limit is above 70 so my driving score always stinks, luckily i just ignore that stupid option now as i just need work mileage tracking. Wish i had bough the Zubi instead for the wifi and actual usefullness, but this was a good first experiment , does good at the few things it does but next time ill be looking at different options as this 70mph threshold ruins the product

I purchased it more as a gimmick rather than a serious perchase and was planning on returning it, but after having it I love the coaching tools it provides to make me a better driver. Instillation is easy and can be done by anyone. Highly recommend to everyone

I think it's got the potential to be better, it's a good starting product and does what it says. There are some glitches in the monitoring at times and how it tracks your gas meter is off. I'm not sure how they determine how they figure out how much it costs per trip, but I wish they could let you input when you fill up to get a more accurate determination. Not great but definitely not a bad product id say i have saved some money using it.

The Automatic car adapter is a very good replacement for GM'svehicle monitoring. It will actually map out your trips, give you mileage and cost of the trip. It even asks if it was for business. (A good way to keep a log for the IRS)

Feature packed device that allows you to see and clear engine codes, trip route and driving tips such as hard brakes and accelerations. Only thing keeping this device from five stars is the IOS app. Location services must be on always (instead of while using the app) and the app must be on. I have lost information due to habitually closing apps and not having it opened while driving.

This was not what I was looking for. I was looking for a product that I could just plug into my cars to read the error codes from the car computer. This product is more of a glorified trip computer with cloud storage/access. Automatic is also unique in wanting you to have one for each vehicle you own. I tried it out for a couple of days, but the main function does not work for me. To move it from one car to another makes you go through the setup process again, which is time consuming. I finally got it setup to work with my second vehicle, and had a Check Engine light. I went into the app on my iPhone, and while the app said there was a problem, it did NOT IDENTIFY the problem to me. I then took the car to the mechanic because I needed it fixed. The fix was something I could have replaced myself and saved almost $200. I returned the product. If you are looking for a trip computer, with a lots of bells and whistles, this product might be for you. If you are looking for something to help you diagnose a problem with your vehicle, look elsewhere.

very good, but sometimes can't connect to phone util restart

I don't do any business travel with my employer so this is not a must have for me. It is nice to just view random travel trips that you make whether big or small. It will keep you speed minded for sure though. It doesn't register if vehicle is just setting ideal, which would be nice as people like to warm the truck during cold months.

This is a great product. Really makes you aware of your driving habits. Warns if something is wrong with the automobile, and you know what it is. Great tool, highly recommend!

So far it has been a very nice tool. I also bought the DashCmd App and I can see boost, intake temperature, 1/4 Mile ET, 0-60 times and much more. I bought it because I am an Uber driver and this tool easily display the miles and gas used for business. At the end of the year I'll get a comprehensive spreadsheet with miles and gas used for business purposes. That way I can claim them in my Taxes.

I was skeptical at first, but wanted a way to track my vehicle's performance, MPG, and miles driven. I have a 2002 car so I don't have all the luxury bells and whistles like the newer cars have today. I would def recommend this product to a friend.

This is my 2nd unit. The "check engine" light came on in my wife's car. I could either spend $100 for a diagnostic charge, at a mechanic, or plug in one of these little units and ALWAYS know what exactly is wrong. Turns out the warning light was bogus. Automatic allowed me to clear the "check engine" light and gave my wife and me some peace of mind. I would have given it 5 stars if the unit gave me the ability to start the car. Since our vehicles have push-button electronic start, it IS possible. It's just not enabled in the device.

I give it 4 stars because it is a good product it does what it says it does the only issue is is that I preferred live information. I wanted information as I go not as I stopped and parked and it recorded then I saw the information. I wanted information that I was going on wanted something I wanted to look at my engine I wanted to see what was going on as I drove. But it is good if you want to use it to keep track of certain people and certain places and certain Vehicles if you get what I'm saying.

Was easy to set up. Works great! Is compatible with Amazon Echo and works great with that device.

Great to educate my child in driving, monitors and identifies problems...

I AM VERY IMPRESSED WITH HOW EASY THIS INSTALLED AND HOW GREAT IT WORKS

When I Found out that I could Do MORE...with the 2nd Gen, such as Using App's like Dashcommand WHICH...Gives me a digital readout of all my Car Functions like MPH,RPM,Voltage, and other various read outs. Works well with Apple Watch also.

Simple to install and use. Works very well and helps user be more mindful of driving habits.

The Autnmatic is a great item for a car owner. I can keep track of driving habits and also mileage. I was also able to find out about engine check light errors.
