It's a good movie I loved it a lot and had fun watching it

I Absolutely Love Castle in the sky for it’s fun adventures and beautiful story and beautiful artwork this movie was very fun and exiting to watch I also really loved the voice actors and actresses, I also really loved the characters,

Castle in the Sky is in the same playing field as Nausicaa and My Neighbor Totoro; classics that will stand the tests of time. For an 80's film, it hasn't aged at all, considering it came out around the same time Transformers the Movie did. And on Blu-ray with the Hi-Def treatment (and some minor cleaning), the film is a brand new experience for anyone who has seen it before. The picture quality in this outing is on par with other previous releases from around this time. Colors, primaries especially, are more robust than the DVD counterpart, lots of pinks and indigos. None of the typical videotape artifacts are present. That being said, dim lit sequences (the third act especially) do show dust anomalies with the frames, but I believe this is more of problem with the technology in general, not necessarily the individual films. Nausicaa has this issue too, as does Akira, and both of those films have been worked over many times. Sound quality on the Blu-ray is better than many other similar entries. At no point do I have to change the volume level to hear Ponsu's voice over the score. While on that topic, I prefer the American dubbed track over the Japanese track in this film. Mark Hammel (Luke Skywalker people), Anna Paquin (True Blood), James Van Der Beek (Dawson's Creek), Tress McNeil (EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN, but especially Futurama) will peek your attention as they were perfect casting choices for the American dub. Andy Dick is in there too, see if you can decipher which of the pirate bros. he is! I love Disney/Studio Ghibli colabs for this reason. They always get the perfect voice actors for the dubs. All of the typical Miyazaki plot and character tropes are in Castle in the Sky. Powerful indomitable women, misunderstood males, technology vs. nature, flying, aircrafts, eggs, obligatory food and eating segments, it's all there. The storyline is somewhere between National Treasure and Goonies. I'll let you watch the movie and decide which of the 20 typical plotlines it's predominantly comprised of. As for extras, this is one of the few that doesn't have too much additional content. There's some sneak peeks, a storyboard of the film, and that's about it. But for a film that helped spark the Studio Ghibli craze and set the course for other installments like Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke, Castle in the Sky is an addition to your anime library that you shouldn't pass up!

Love this movie, great picture on blu-ray and the audio is amazing

You really can't go wrong with Miyazaki. This one is just a hair behind Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away for my wife and me, but it's still one of our favorites. If you like his other films, you'll like this one too!

This studio does it again and again! I'm literally happy to share each and every major motion movie from Studio Ghibli to my kids! The characters, animation,story and music are just amazing to experience!

This version is great! I'm glad that a better translation exists. Never got a chance to see this one, but once I heard there waa a better translation, I went for it!

Seriously, Studio Ghibli is like, one of the best animation studios out there. They're a nice change of pace from mainstream western animation.

This is by far one of the best movies from Studio Ghibli and a timeless classic. Even my kids who are 4 and 9 enjoy watching this movie.

This is another great Studio Ghibli effort, though I'd probably rank it outside my top 5 if I was to rate all their efforts. Strong dub, but the story just isn't as magical as other. The blu ray treatment is excellent. And it's too bad the studio is against digital copies.

I enjoyed this movie. Voice acting was great. I thought it slowed down a little towards the middle but it was still fun to watch.

This is also one of my favorite Ghibli Movies, the comedy is great, the feels are great and the action scenes are top notch.

How could you not love this movie. It’s one of my all time favorites and I’m so happy I could add it to my collection!!

Studio Ghibli has done it again. Miyazaki continues to show the world why he is one of the most talented directors in the world.

This animated movie was a different experience for us in a good way. It was a lot of fun for us.

My son wanted this Bluray for Christmas. Easy to order and shipped right to the house.

The animated movies of Studio Ghibli, especially the ones directed by Myazaki, are beautiful movies for all ages. Pacing ranges from fast action to slow setting-establishing shots. They're full of character. They don't talk down to the audience. There are many reasons these films are so loved in Japan and tend to win over those who don't care for anime or any animated films, for that matter. Disney had released the films of Studio Ghibli on disc previously, but these GKIDS releases are better. They have better translations for the subtitles and include extras that had only been on the Japanese releases. If you prefer watching these movies in their native language with subtitles, these are the discs to have. We're big fans of having the physical discs rather than going with digital only versions. Discs don't rely on an internet connection and you own them - you technically own a digital only version, too, but if the platform/app goes away, you may lose access to it.

Love the story line, very sad, a combination of fantasy and realit... very hard to describe.
