Great product, be careful with IOS7 as of Nov 2013

I am very happy with this MyQ garage door opener and the install was very easy – except with Apple IOS 7. I followed the process several times and called the Chamberlain phone support. I give them kudos for being open on a Saturday and having short hold times but was annoyed by the typical script where you must answer questions unrelated to the problem just so the operator could get you to a tech. In the end the support person I talked to did not solve my problem. I ended up solving the problem myself. During the install you must connect to the device via Bluetooth and “Add the Wi-Fi hub to your Wi-Fi network” (more on this later). I did this several times and my iPhone app (with IOS 7) would always fail saying I had to enable Wi-Fi on the hub. I reset the unit several times trying to figure out what was going on. Finally I tried my wife’s iPhone that still has IOS 6 – worked perfect. Bluetooth connected, it updated the software on the MyQ Hub and everything worked perfect! I never did confirm with Chamberlain that this is a IOS 7 bug and probably by the time you read this it will be resolved. If not hopefully I saved you some frustration. Now, something I find interesting. When I used my iPhone to connect to the device and added the “Hub” to my network somehow the MyQ Hub obtained my Wi-Fi password from my iPhone. I never typed in my WEP Wi-Fi password in the iPhone app but when I look at my router DHCP lease table I see the MyQ listed with a valid IP address. I have searched online and have not found any reference to how you can transfer a WEP key using Bluetooth but somehow it must be possible. It is cool, very easy to set up. I guess it just sorta freaked me out that a device can learn my Wi-Fi password using Bluetooth from my iPhone. Now, how does it work? Fantastic! I have the app installed on my wife’s phone and my phone but have not tested Android (assume it works). The reason I purchased this product was the positive reviews and because I have a problem leaving my garage door open. Sometimes I will remember about a mile from home and have to drive back to check and close the door. Other times I just forget! I live in Minnesota and have a heater in my garage that keeps it at 45 degrees. Last year I drove to work at least 4 times during sub-zero weather and left the garage door open (garage heater ran all day). I figure I will pay for this product with reduced natural gas costs very quickly! I set up an alarm to send a push notification and email if the garage door is open for longer than 30 minutes. I have not fine tuned this time yet but figure I don’t want alarms going off when I am taking out the garbage so 30 minutes feels like a good setting. I tested it at 2 minutes and the alarms fired like they should. So far I have not left it open longer than 30 minutes. One feature I love is when you close the garage door with the application the MyQ hub flashes a bright light and sounds an alarm before closing the door. My Wife has the app installed as well and sometimes I may be working on a project and leave the door open on purpose. Now if my wife sees the garage door is open and decides to close it at least I will know it is going to happen and be able to override the open by hitting the wired opener. I have only had this opener a few days and I don’t normally write reviews. I am very happy with this product. I only share my frustration with IOS 7 to help others. I would definitely recommend the Chamberlain MyQ garage door opener.

This little thing has consistently impressed me. It’s not close to my router but has only dropped off the network 2 or 3 times in several years. And for being relatively inexpensive, this has ironically been more valuable than almost any other product I’ve purchased. It’s saved me when I’ve been locked out of the house multiple times. It saved my dog three times when the garage door didn’t stay closed I had no idea and was headed across town... An identical unit I purchased for my elderly Mother let’s me know via notification every morning that she’s gotten up and gone out to get the paper and walk her dog; as someone who prefers not to be forced to speak for as long as possible in the morning this has been a Godsend! And finally, in October when I had my garage broken into in the middle of the night, my phone told me a split second before my Doberman did... and the combination of a ghost garage door closing and Mango's where did that come from impersonation of the Hound of Baskerville from the warm side of my utility door meant that the lousy jerks dropped almost every tool they tried to carry off as they ran in terror from my garage- the last one getting clotheslined by my little garage gremlin as he lowered the door for me! On top of that, getting voice control with Google Assistant took about 45 seconds and suddenly and unexpectedly I had the ability to let people in from upstairs without even needing the app on the iPhone. Alexa still can’t do it, after a few hours of my time. I also really love having a record of time open and closed- and FYI I solved the occasional issue I was having where my garage would close all the way but after a brief pause on occasion open- I live a long block off a very busy road and my garage is the last unit in a complex - so it wasn’t hard for me to barely miss that occurrence by turning to pay attention to traffic - and as I mentioned the woman of the house is a really smart Doberman who was quite happy to go exploring... I created a custom alert that rather than just text me “Garage is Still Open” which I do have it do after 30minutes... I used the same alert but changed the parameters and message so I get a notification “Garage is still closed, “ about 5 minutes after the fact. That way before I get to the freeway I know if I need to make a upturn... After the second time it happened, Mango was just sitting in the garage looking at me driving up. She hates to be in trouble. Lol Another thing I really love is that it was easy to use IFTT to give me subtle hints that my door has opened or closed in case I didn’t hear it.

Ok, this is the coolest thing since sliced bread. If you have an automatic garage door opener, then obviously you have a remote to open it from your car as you are pulling up. But, this eliminates the need for you to be right out in front of your house to open the door. I have actually taken my garage door remote out of my car for security reasons (in case someone breaks into my car and gets my address and remote). Now, I use ONLY the app to open the door when I'm about 2 blocks away, so I don't have to wait for it to open when I pull up. To keep people from opening the app on your phone and getting into the garage, you can set the app to open with a password or 4 digit PIN (or, if you're not worried about such things, you can set the app to open with no security#. I have already used it to remotely open my garage door when I was out of town, and my neighbor had to pull my trash can in. He called me, told me he was standing right outside my garage, I used the app to open the door #from 1 state away#, he put the can in, then I closed it from the app. Also, I have a friend who has one of these #but DOES NOT have an exterior garage door opener keypad# who has gotten a phone call or two from children who are home from school, but have "lost" or "forgot" the key to the house, and can't get in. PRESTO, right from work, they can open the garage door and let them in. WAY COOL. #ok, I'm a big tech nerd#. Two reasons why it is "almost perfect": 1. The first part of the setup is getting it hooked up to your home wifi network. While the setup is not exactly rocket science, you do have to follow the steps carefully to get it all hooked up correctly. If you are someone who is "tech challenged", this may be a challenging step, but not impossible. The second part of the setup is getting it to talk to the garage door opener itself. Again, while not terribly difficult, it did take a little time. After I programed the MyQ to the door opener, I had to reprogram the car remote #in case I needed to put it back in my car# and I also had to reprogram the exterior remote keypad #the one attached to the garage door frame exterior#. 2. This is the most annoying thing about this, and I have called Chamberlain to complain/alert them about this, but I don't know how much good it did. There is a sensor that has to be attached to the garage door itself to sense the status of the door #open or closed#, and it is VERY sensitive. If the door is CLOSED and jiggles AT ALL #strong wind, someone bumping against it, etc...# the door sensor moves and sometimes thinks the door has opened. So, you go to the app and expect the door to say closed, but the system thinks it is "open", and shows it open #but it is still closed#. Sometimes it gets confused, and I have had to cycle the garage door from the push button opener in the garage #the one mounted on the wall next to the door that goes into the house#. This usually resets it. If the garage door is not jiggled, then it works perfectly. I have been looking for a different place to mount the sensor, but haven't really found anywhere on the door that is "jiggle proof" #MAYBE at the very bottom of the door, it seems that when the door is closed and butted against the cement of the garage floor, it seems to jiggle there less than higher up on the door#. Also, keep in mind that it takes wifi to work, so if your home wifi network or internet, or power to your router/modem goes down, this will not work until it is restored. Having understood these "limitations" or "quirks", the convenience of having this outweighs those "quirks", and I love it. I would definitely recommend this to a friend, and already have.

This thing is awesome. Before buying I had few questions that I couldn't find the answer for on any of the reviews, I also called the MyQ company and was still not giving the answers I need, so I hope to answer the questions that others might have. First off my garage is finished (dry wall and all) so I really did not want to mount the device, did not want to drill holes, so my question was does it have to be drilled, the answer is NO. In fact I don't have mine in the garage, the company wants you to put in the garage for the flashing light and the alarm sound, but I use mine to just make sure it's closed when I'm away, so no need for the alarm in the first place, which leads me to the next question. Does the alarm sound when you close the garage door with the car remote or the keypad or or or? answer is NO, again the alarm only sounds and the light comes on ONLY when you use your smart phone to or use the online app to close the door. Alarm is loud but not as loud as some of the reviews make it out to be. Last question I had is the range, I have a 3 car garage with 2 doors, problem is I have 2 car garage on one side of the house and the 3rd car garage is on the other side of the house, would it reach with just a 2nd sensor or I need to buy another hub? answer is it does reach. That's another reason why I have the hub in the house to be in the center of both sensors, connects better to the WiFi network. I'm an OCD person and needed to take pics of my garage door closed when I went out of town, now I can just check my app and make sure it's closed. To upgrade my garage door opener was $450 each with installation, so for my setup it was $900, with this little hub and 2 sensors I was able to save $785 as I got it on sale from Best Buy. Also the sensors I didn't want to drill in my garage doors, so what I did was use the velcro it came with and added some external tape to keep it in place. Best of all, if we ever move, it is simple to take with me for the next house, unlike replacing the entire garage door opener.

Great Product - Almost Perfect Set Up

Bought this because I am always afraid I have left the garage door open. This solved my problem. There are basically two components. A sensor you attach to the garage door itself. It is a simple transmitter that senses when the door has changed from vertical to horizontal (open) and sends a signal to the second component. The second piece is the receiver and wifi gateway. Once you attach the Receiver near the opener, (NOTE: You have to plug the transformer into an electrical plug) and plug it in, it starts blinking a BLUE LED (there are a number of different color LED's that mean different things). Then, you start the Android or iPhone Chamberlain MyQ App, turn on Bluetooth and pair your phone with the MyQ and it walks you through the rest of the set up which asks permission to join your wifi network and registers the MyQ with the Chamberlain server. NOTE: It did not register with the server the first time. I unplugged the unit and started it again. This time, no problem, it linked perfectly and the rest of the process went perfectly. Once that happens, it asks you to link the Sensor on the Door to the system, asks you to push the LEARN button if you have a Rolling Code Opener and then attempts to open and close the door. Mine worked the first time, perhaps because I have a Lift Master, which is a Chamberlain company. Note that you should look at the Guide which is in the phone App. It will explain how to set up the Email or regular Notifications to your phone. The Alerts are very customizable. Also, if you want to edit how an alert works, you have to write an entirely new one and delete the prior one. There is no EDIT ability. I think the App could be fixed to allow this feature. I've only had the unit for less than 24 hours, so I'll update this review if there are any important things to let you know. And, I called Customer Service to find out if there is a battery in the Door Sensor. Julie was wonderful and knew the product very well. There is a small battery. I suggested they add this information in the Manual, which says NOTHING about changing the battery or what type of battery it is.

    Tough Install

The "Quick Start Guide" provides a reasonably clear physical install but very poor set up instructions. The instructions suggest physically mounting the hardware and then downloading the MyQ apt but what needs to be done is to download the apt first as it will get you to the remaining setup instructions. You also need to determine the Wi-Fi signal strength in your garage as the "green" light indicator on the MyQ hub may show a signal is being received but it does not guarantee a sufficiently strong signal to reliably set up or operate the Wi-Fi MyQ hub. Occurring errors during set up frequently cause you to start at the very beginning. Each time you must repeat the type of door opener being used for example. It is strongly encouraged that you do the Wi-Fi programming before you do the physical installation. Be sure to mount the door sensor before doing the door opener training as the MyQ needs its input to determine if it found the correct code. Otherwise, you have to repeat the learning cycle. A code saying "Door Motion Not Detected" would give a huge clue to the issue. I just finished installation and it is working great but long term reliability is TBD. Also note the Chamberlain Apt is for smart phones only - not pads unless equipped with a phone connection. Overall the install instructions require a lot of reading between the lines and "trial and error" with little to no feedback when mistakes are made. There is no evidence that Chamberlain took the time to review and take feedback from first time users and then refining the instructions based on feedback. I would recommend this to only those friends with a strong technical and "hands-on" installation experience.

Great if you can live with some limitations

I've bought it 5 month ago and have been using since then. It is an excellent high tech toy and great for a geek like me! :) I use it with 2 door sensors (one that came with the original purchase + 1 extra) and some 5+ year old Chamberlain openers. Setup: I had to call support as I did not receive notification to validate my email address/account and hence the app on iPhone was failing to complete one of the last steps (I was getting errors adding "doors" to the "place" in the app). Once this was understood and solved - the rest of setup was easy. Support was helpful in resolving this fast. From that point on - works as expected with some limitations. Main concern with this product for me - reliability. This manifests in the following ways: Occasionally, I get no notification on open or close event (happens 1-2 times/week when door opens/closes 4-8 times a day). Once in a while I get repeated notifications (opened/closed/opened/closed within 2 min window) while the door was "cycled" only once. Once or twice over couple of months, the status of the door was reported incorrectly (door shown open in the app while it was closed) Controlling the door when you are not on local network is also somewhat flaky (I get failures to connect or "no response" when you attempt to open or close a door). I do really like the notifications as I know when my kids are getting in/out through garage or when we leave and ask our friends to take care of the house - we know when they are coming in/out. Other considerations: The control box does not have an option for wired network connection - I suppose some of the failures could be due to WiFi reliability. The box should be mounted close to garage door openers (<3 ft?) - not a problem for me - but I wish I read about this prior to purchase to evaluate outlet location/placement in general. Once you register your email in the account in the app - that is the only email that will get notifications - you cannot change it unless you reregister from start again, i.e. create a new account, etc. I was trying to add another email to get notifications - but could not. I could have registered an email alias instead having known about this. There is no integration or APIs (at least when I was looking into it in April 2016) with other home automation systems, i.e. it is a standalone piece of equipment from home automation point of view.

Nice addition to a "smart" home

The myQ is a nice addition to any "smart" home. It gives peace of mind that the garage door is shut and alerts when the door is open and closed. The Chamberlain tech support people, while courteous, were not that much help with installation. Here's some lessons learned that will make your install much more easier: 1. go with the WPS option when connecting to your router. 2. after connection is established, add port forwarding for the myQ hub in router settings. The TCP port is 8883 and the UDP port is 2165. Go ahead and do this, even if you don't have any connection issues. 3. while the myQ hub only will connect to the 2.4ghz band, there is no need to turn off the 5ghz band on your router (unless router only runs on 5ghz band). 4. despite the manual saying to attach the hub on the ceiling and at least 2 feet away from the garage door opener, place the hub at the furthest location from the garage door opener that still allows for the system to work. I found that the closer the myQ hub is to the garage door opener, the better chance for radio interference from a regular garage door remote, keypad remote, or the homelink remote inside cars. And when there's interference, the myQ hub will drop the connection to the router and you're going to be re-setting and re-connecting again. The Android app is ok but could be improved. My biggest issue with the app is that there is no notification of whether or not the myQ hub is connected or disconnected.

I purchased this product to give myself peace of mind in knowing I closed the garage when I leave for work, vacation, etc. It has saved me a couple times when I rushed out the garage and left the door open. I have had some false readings on this device. If your door faces the wind and a bad storm rolls up it will rattle the door and you will get alerts the door has opened. It has not, and you can login the app to verify its in the closed state. Also if it gets really cold outside and the garage is warm and the door has condensation it may seep into the door sensor. (In the winter I place door sensor in a freezer bag while attached to the door) Setup took a bit of technology know how. You need to know you way around a tablet or smartphone and changing which wifi network you are attached to. Difficulty rating to setup 3.5 out of 5. The device creates its own wifi network for setup only once configured it connects to your home wifi router. When it does this you need to switch back over to your home wifi. Compatibility: What garage door openers does it work with? If your door has the up down dip switches its probably too legacy for this product. If your garage door has a security programming button on the back of the opener to program new remotes you are probably good. Check vendor website for more specifics. App Use: App is very simple and at time of writing this review had no service fees associated with using the app. App can be used on cellular or wifi network anywhere to open/close or check status of your door. --- Full Disclosure I'm an associate of a BestBuy store but this review is based on my private experience using this product. The review expressed here is my personal thoughts and feelings on the product.

I wish the MyQ Garage Door Controller existed years ago! I've had the product installed for about a month now and it's exactly what I wanted. There is no more driving back home or calling a neighbor to ensure the garage door is closed. The product works well and has nice features. I've had no issues controlling the door via the app or the old remote control and the door responds to requests from the app within seconds. The status of the door in the app is even correct when I manually open or close the garage door without engaging the garage door opener's motor. There is a visual flashing light and beeping audio alarm to alert people in the garage before the door is closed via the app. Another nice perk is that you can customize alerts through the app so you can be notified on your phone when the door is opened or if it's been left open too long. You can even setup time frames for when you'd like to receive the alerts. The physical installation of MyQ Wifi Hub and door sensor was very straight forward and took about 15 minutes. A first time do it yourselfer would have benefited from slightly more detailed printed instructions about things like when & how to use the included drywall anchors. But the overall installation was pretty easy. The software portion of the installation wasn't too bad, but did have a couple hiccups. I was able to get the Wifi Hub connected to my home network & 8 year old Chamberlain garage door opener in about 15 minutes using the bluetooth configuration in the app. MyQ relies on the app to provide most of the instruction for configuration here, but the app did a decent job of walking me through the required steps. I can't remember exactly why, but it took me about a half dozen attempts to get the wifi hub fully connected to my home internet & registered to my new MyQ account. Pairing the Wifi Hub with the garage door opener was a snap. I have been very please with my purchase of the MyQ Garage Door Controller and the added peace of mind has made this purchase worth every penny. I have no reservations in recommending this product.

I was hesitant about purchasing this, as I felt it was more of a luxury item. It turns out, it is very nice to have. I bought this when it was on sale for around $90. Me and my wife's garage remotes quit working, and new ones were roughly $35/piece. Instead of buying new ones, I just purchased the Myq. With the Myq, we can just use our phones to open the door now, and get alerts when the garage opens and closes. It is nice to quickly check on the go, if we forgot to close the door. The installation was a breeze, and everything was installed, and connected within 30 minutes. It works flawlessly with my Note 4, and wife's Iphone 6. The app does take about 5 to 10 seconds to load up, but it's not a dealbreaker. There is a picture of a garage door, and you just tap it to open or close the door. The app tells you when the door has successfully shut or opened. The only negatives right now, are the price, and alert that sounds when the door is closing. First, the price is a bit high for what you get. There is a hub that connects your opener to your phone. There is also a sensor that installs on your door, that lets the hub know when it's opened or closed. For $130, it's rather pricey. Even for $90, I had to really think if it was worth it. Secondly, there is an alert that chimes for 15-20 seconds when the door closes. It is very loud, and I haven't found a way to quiet or silence it. It is a safety feature that sounds to let people know the door is about to close. I'm sure some electrical tape around the speaker will muffle the sound, but I wish there was a volume control knob. Besides the two small negatives, I've been happy with the Myq. It connected no problem with my Chamberlain Security + opener. If it's on sale, I'd say get it.

I'm a bit of an automation junkie. I have most things with an on/off switch controllable by my phone. One thing that had not come into the fold was the garage door. My home has a Genie opener from the late 90s, that's working perfectly well. Saw the advertisements for the Chamberlain MyQ system, but wasn't aware that this product was available for non-Chamberlain openers! You can really mount the MyQ device anywhere in your garage. You just need to stick the position sensor on the garage door somewhere. From there, installation is dead simple, particularly with an iPhone. It communicates by wifi, but you can push your iPhone's wifi settings to it by just pairing to it with bluetooth - no need to pick SSIDs or type in passwords. I've never seen such a simple, genius way to get something online. Once online, you open the app and input the device's serial number. From there it walks you through pairing its transmitter to your garage door opener. I picked Genie, then it told me to push the Learn button on the opener. I did so, then continued along in the app. The opener then started moving the door, and the app noticed thanks to the sensor. That's it. Now I can open and close the garage door from my phone, and I was able to configure it to send me a notification if I leave the door open for more than 30 minutes.

The only reason I am not giving this 5 stars is because of the app. The set up was a breeze. I rent so this option being as simple as it is happens to be a great way to be secure and I dont have to "install" a piece of hardware that is semi-permanent. All the options are a breeze for setup. I have even had to factory default the product (problems with openers) and was still easy to set up again. The notifications come through push and email which is great. I bought because of security suspicions of garage being open when I came home each day. I was able to find out that someone else in the neighbor hood somehow had their opener programmed for my door. In the process of figuring this out I was able to close the door immediately after it opened by the app and its notifications. Back to the bad about this. The app for android was developed by a second year programmer at best. The app only works correctly if you keep the screen on and it was the first time you opened the app. If the screen shut off sometimes you can go back to the app and control the door but most you see that there is no door to be found. The only way to remedy the problem of a missing door on the app is to kill the app. Yep, if you dont exit the app (double tap back <--other commenter said there was no exit but is wrong) you have to kill it to use the app again. I am in the habit of not exiting apps everytime I go to use another so this can be cumbersome but I dont mind a bit because the notifications are 100% accurate. In fact the app may be bad but I deprogrammed my garage door and this is the only one set to work.

I am electrical and computer engineer and was very excited to use this product. After three months of being disappointed, I returned it. Three of my friends have the same issue, they are unable to open or close the garage door from the app 90% of the time. I was locked outside of my garage since I decided to purchase this item instead of a replacement garage door opener. In theory it was a great idea but this item needs much more developing. Emailed support and they were not helpful. They suggested I re-install or update the app. No further troubleshooting done and I was left hanging after that. I have created my own solution with a WEMO Maker and a magnetic switch. The wemo maker works 100% of the times and took me 10 minutes to install. Not only do you gain reliability but it's also $40 less!! The magnetic sensor is optional but can be set up to send you alerts like the original MyQ setup if combined with IFTTT. I got the Chamberlain MyQ Garage Door controller because I sometimes forget to close the garage door or accidentally activate the garage remote that is on my key chain. Since I have a detached garage, I can't conveniently check if the garage door is closed. I've waken up in the morning and have found that the garage door was left open all night. The MyQ Garage Door controller was easy to install once I was able to get a WiFi signal to my detached garage. I needed to get a WiFi extender. Once the signal was present, it was very easy to get it installed and operational with my app. I set the alarm to notify me when the garage door opens. The app tells you how long the door was closed and you can open and close the garage door by tapping on the garage door that is displayed on the app. I did receive a notification in the middle of the day that my garage door opened. When I launched the app to check the door status, it said the garage door was closed, but it was only closed for a few minutes. I don't know if it was false signal or if the garage door really did open and then close. I'm going to install a smartcam in the garage that can automatically record "events". If I get another alarm from MyQ Garage that my door opened and I know no one is at home to open it, I can check if the garage really did open and close by itself. So far, I am satisfied with my purchase and would recommend it.

The product DOES operate as the packaging says. The installation was complicated by my home network and customer support said that I needed to open 4 different ports on my router, but they couldn't help me do it. It was a complication with my network, but I've also never had any problem installing hue lights, amazon echo, Nest smoke alarm, or my smarttings hub, why the problem with MyQ? I did finally get it to work. I admit that I confused my research as I thought this product connected with other home automation systems... but there is no official support for Apple HomeKit, no Amazon Echo support, I understand that some can get it connected to SmartHome but it will only open the garage door and not close it. There is also no IFTT support. At this point in the home automation timeline it shuld be connecting to multiple systems to broaden it's cababilites. Actually right now the only thing it does is open and close the door and let you know when it's opened or closed. No ability to schedule users for access, no ability to voice command over Echo, nothing. Like I said it worked as advertised, but the limited capabilites aren't worth it. I returned it, paid $35 more for the gogogate and will be getting IFTT connectivity, user configurations, and the ability to connect to a video camera to view the garage on the gogogate app.

We wanted to automate our house after we purchased and installed our Wink and WeMo connected light switches, after getting two Nest 3rd generation thermostats. Brought two of these Chamberlain MyQ Controllers so we could open up our two garage doors using our phone. We braced ourselves for a difficult install because our Internet router was pretty far from the garage area. We we pleasantly surprised how easy it was to hook into our Chamberlain made garage door opener and our router. Installed the two controllers and the two sensors in just under 30 minutes. Both controllers linked up easily using our iPhones. Unexpected advantage was the units will give both push notifications and emails when each of the garage doors are opened and closed with the time and date. Best yet, in case you rush out of the house, and can't remember if you closed the garage door, all you have to do is check the status using the MyQ app. The App can also link to your Nest system to monitor you heating and cooling, although the Nest app interface is more user friendly. Tip: If you are installing two units for two separate garage doors, make sure you mount the MyQ units as far away from each other as possible. We didn't do that and when one door opens using the app, the other unit sounds the alarm.

My husband picked this up after seeing a Best Buy ad for it in the paper. I was skeptical, but he likes tinkering with things, so I told him we should try it. It was $140 out the door with tax and proved to be worth it! He said it was super easy to setup. The only problem he has was that we did not remember our password for wifi, so we had to dig that out, but once he had the wifi password it hooked right up. Our garage door opener is a genie brand. I leave the house at least once a week and forget to close the garage door. I used to either loop around the block where I could look back at our house and see if I closed the door or not. Now, I pull away without any worry. Just yesterday I went to target and thought I left the door open, so when I got to the parking lot I opened the myq app on my phone and sure enough, the door was open. Tap the screen and you can see the door closing. When I got home, sure enough, the myq did its job and the door was closed. Great for moms or busy people on the go. My husband likes to use it at night to check to see if we closed the door before bed. Many great ways to use this gadget!

Added this product to our house so that the kids could come and go without leaving the garage open all the time. Extremely simple setup. You do have to setup a Chamberlain account to utilize the app though. Would be 5 stars except the app is a little disappointing, but very simple to use. Would be great to have multiple users and the ability to see their activities. The current app format required me to put my main account login on all the family devices. The notifications are spotty on whether you get them or not. I have only tested the email notification, as the push option would send alert to all my devices due to only one user login allowed. Lastly, the alerts are a little odd; I wanted one to tell me if the door was left open from 10 PM to 5 AM for more than 15 minutes. You have to set up two alerts as it doesn't recognize past midnight on an alert (i.e had to do one alert for 10-11:59 PM and a second alert for 12:00 AM to 5 AM). Total time including mounting to the garage ceiling took 25 minutes. Gets the job done and the main purpose of my kids activating from their phones works perfect.

Love it. I have the MyQ installed and used an extra sensor for the 2nd Garage Door. Haven't had any issues. Installed everything is about 10 minutes and it hasn't failed yet. Very reliable. Once I closed the Garage door with the regular Garage remote and it didn't update on the MyQ App so I got an alert that my door was still open but I just checked the Live Feed from my Garage CAM to verify it was closed and refreshed the MyQ App. I get notified when the Delivery Man pulls into my Driveway by the Ring Pro Doorbell and then Im able to open the Garage Door for him to set my package inside on the work bench. I then close the Garage door once he walks back to his truck. I have a CAM setup in the Garage so I know hes not stealing anything and I have the schalge fe599 door lever installed on my Garage door that leads into the house so I can make sure its locked. Everything is working well together. I use the SmartThings hub v2.
