Chappie is a movie by Neil Blompkat that dwells into the lives of viewers and their feelings tolerated people or things that are different and how far would you go to stand up for what you feel is right . A must recommended movie filmed in South Africa featuring the biggest names out of that country and in their movie debut as them selves - Yolandi and Ninja from Die Antwoord.

Nice movie with very interesting special effects. Anyone interested in the future may want to see this one. Somewhat scary!

Excellent movie with a good story. The actors are good too. The best part of the movie is the score.

With Dolby Vision I was floored by the color & contrast. This disc comes from a native 4k and it shows. Special effects galore shine in UHD like never before. Watched it 3 times just for the beauty throughout the movoe

A very good, but not great, science-fiction film! While District 9 was amazing, and Elysium had some great ideas and a timely message, it was ultimately undone by its lack of nuance. Chappie is like a mixture of the above two films. I guess its hard to follow up a home run when its your first at bat as a director. Chappie comes close but not quite. Maybe fourth time is a charm? With that said, I still highly recommend this film because it is still better than most science-fiction films being made today.

This is a pretty cool movie with a lot of sci fi action

In the near future, crime is monitored by an oppressive mechanized police force. But now, the people are fighting back. When one police droid, Chappie, is stolen and given new programming, he becomes the first robot with the ability to think and feel for himself. As powerful and destructive forces start to see Chappie as a danger to mankind and order, they will stop at nothing to maintain the status quo and ensure that Chappie is the last of his kind.

I missed it in the theater, so when Best Buy had it on special (<$10), I grabbed it and watched the 2-hour flick on a Friday night with my wife. Part sci-fi, part crime, part violence, with some funny dialogs. Can't really pinpoint what we didn't like, but can't say we like it a lot either. It's one of those movies you sort of 'enjoy' while watching it, but have no desire/need to watch it again afterwards. You know what I mean?

Saw this movie in the theater and had high expectations since it was directed by the same director as District 9 and also had Shartlo Copley involved. This movie did not disappoint and is really brought out by Copley. His portrayal of the title character, despite being hidden by CGI, causes you to relate to an innocence that you had as a child but also how easy it can be to have influences that shape your life. There are a few lagging moments but again are made up for by the subtle development of the main character. Visually the movie is nice and will play well on HD. While the sound is good, it is more rock music rather than a typical musical score. It is not a family film and should really be reserved for those at least 16+ with the maturity to handle the social themes and violence.

Good sci-fi about A.I. from the creator of District 9. Seen it at the theaters & wanted ia copy on dvd. Damaged police robot given articial intelligence gets good & bad influences.Good action, some humor, some scenes kind of silly, but others that make you think, good movie overall.

Very entertaining movie although violent and bloody. It definitely has an updated Short Circuit vibe. Lots of cool mech. The South African slang can be difficult to understand at times, but it’s still easy to understand what’s going on. Wolverines Mullet is amazing as well.

Surprising amount of action (at least for me) in this tongue in cheek movie. Really is a silly story but played like an action movie with overacted parts by many of the actors. The whole story takes place in South Africa in some very gritty and dangerous locals. Worth checking out the extras, some really interesting stuff there including an alternative ending which I would have preferred.

This movie had a good plot and I believe children would enjoy viewing it. It was interesting because it was not boring it had action and adventure. My child enjoyed watching the robot's personality develop from child to adult and learning how to defend itself. The ending was engaging with battles and a lot of creativity by the producer of this fun science movie.

This was a good movie, we just didn't like it. Each actor was good, they played well as their characters. Its just that the movie was more violent than we thought. We assumed this movie would be a family movie. It was not. We ended up giving the movie away. Just not for us. I would recommend the movie to those that like this kind of violence and adventure.
