This movie is awsome. Spike Lee never misses a beat. Purchased for a family movie night & everyone loves my daughter has watched a number of time

Chi-Raq, another nickname given to Chicago because of the end result of gun violence...death. From 2001 to 2015, more people have died in Chicago due to gun violence than Americans that have died in both the Afgan and the Iraq wars put together. The movie's plot surrounds itself based on an old Greek story dealing with the Spartans and the Trojans killing one another in a senseless war. The way the main protagonist, Lyssistrada, tries and make the men from both factions to stop fighting and end the violence is for all women to deny their men intercourse. Spike Lee holds no bars in this movie by taking on the NRA, local and federal government, and most of all the people causing the violence in the streets. Some people might consider this movie too preachy, but me personally I loved the preachiness in the movie and it's a shame that not enough movies do it and execute it well.

My wife and I enjoyed this movie, I knew some of the problems in that part of this country, but it also represents many problems around the world. Being grandparents, we have to be informed and concerned about our grandkids future and their decisions they will have to make. We provide dialog, love and prayer with them, thank God they listen and are engaged and opinionated.

Spike did it again with "Chi-Raq" just like he did with "Do The Right Thing"!!!! The clever way the dialogue is done with rhymes and the message that needs to be heard and actually performed in real life. I would have wanted someone else to play Nick Cannon's part, but it still was a great movie to add to the collection .... especially the Spike Lee collection.

Spike Lee has made a very interesting film. The message is very important, and the storytelling approach is challenging. It takes a few scenes to settle in to the acting and dialog style, but there are some very rewarding performances in this cast.

Spike Lee's modern satire hits home and is more urgent than ever. Taking on Gun violence in Chicago and exploring everything from Black on Black Violence to Police Shootings, the film is intense, emotional and at times funny but never uncaring.

This movie is much more than what the title makes it seem like. The story is a take on an old play and modernizing it for today's generation. Wesley Snipes should of played more of his part in the movie though.

The problems in black, urban/ inner-city America are not ones that can be solved through words or empty promises. This movie explores that and the notion people must invest in their own social growth.

At times, the story line was a little bit far fetched but over all it was a good movie. Although I had expected a more serious story there was a moral to the plot. Watch for the ending, it surprised me.

Chi-Raq is a great movie and puts a different spin on how it tells the story of a serious issue of African-Americans getting killed in the City of Chicago at an alarming rate over unnecessary "BS".

I liked the movie. It may not be for everybody. Even though I like Samuel Jackson, I don't think his part was necessary. The story would have been better without his part.

This is Spike Lee at his best. This is a good film to watch to delve into what is going on in the streets of not just places like Chicago but all over the place now.

This movie is one of many spike lee joints and you know its going to be something to watch. I really enjoyed the movie no matter what other people may have said.

I didn't expect Chi-Raq to be what it was. After I read it was based off of the Greek play Aristophanes' Lysistrata, I had to see how it played out.

This movie is a lighthearted look a serious problem. Some will not like this Chi-raq; I think most will think about it far after viewing it.

The movie was really good. You have to pay attention to understand, the movie. It explains that the movie is based off of a famous play.

I knew it was going to be a controversial film before the critics lambasted it." No peace, No piece" was a nice thought though not realistic. I wanted to see it when it first came to the theater. It was okay to watch, with a few notable actors and decent soundtrack.

Strong cast, good storyline and well told. The flow of the movie is very enjoyable, even better on the second viewing

This was a stunning look into the issues of current life in Chicago, reflective of other urban areas around the United States. This is an interpretation of a classic play, portrayed in contemporary style and candor. Not my personal favourite of Spike Lee's films ("joints"), but worthwhile to view.
