Cause Team Roulley Says So
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After reading Mr. Rainfox's review, i must say, i disagree, Roger Ebert is not sexy and George Bush doesn't hate guns n roses and best buy AND America is GREAT. However this album is not, it's pure slop on a CD. Theres only two new songs on there, everyone has all the other ones, unless they've been living in a compute-less cave. I'm sure RF will buy a few thousand copies but other then that, this album will fail miserably.

it is about time
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is good to hear the lone awaited album, but the music isn't quite the same as the classic guns with all the original members

disappointing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i've been a fan of GNR since the appetite days, and have been following the development of chinese democracy since at least 2003. i've heard all but three of the tracks on chinese democracy, and must say that the music is disappointing and not worth the wait. it pales in comparison to earlier GNR, and cannot compare to current artists like Radiohead who are really pushing the boundaries of pop music.

OK Album, If Released Under Another Band Name
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't even know what to say. I was saddened by this album because I was always such a HUGE GNR fan. This is NOT a GNR album, make no mistake about it. This is ... well, I'd say an "Axl" album, but the fluctuations in his voice and the songs just do not mix well. The song Chinese Democracy is the only one that resembles the old GNR in any way, shape or form. Axl's voice sounds strangely out of place on almost all of the other songs. I can remember standing in line at midnight at Strawberries when Use Your Illusion 1 & 2 went on sale. I put the CDs in my car, and got goosebumps instantly. I still do when I play them. The other day, I put Chinese Democracy in my car and drove around with a puzzled look on my face for the next hour. I've played it and replayed it, and I really do not like it. It has nothing to do with the old band members, it has more to do with the old style -- a style that I believe could've easily been successfully resurrected, but was not at all. I wish I had borrowed it from a friend for a week so I could just give it right back to them.

What's all the hype about
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I listened to all the tracks on myspace. It is an ok record. The production quality is certainly good. It actually is over produced. Remember when GNR was a "rock" band. The songs are so so. There is no real standout for me except madagascar, which has been out for years now anyway. The guitar playing is good but not much else can be said about this project. IMHO of course.

Not The Best Sound
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You really have to listen to this one over and over again to even get a feel for it. All tracks that were leaked are demos. You can tell with this one. Tracks 1-9 have very bad sound quality. The song Prositute is definitly the best song on the album. This would be a great album if it was mixed better. This album grows on you like a fungus.

An unwelcome jungle...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was excited for this album to some degree, but being a big fan of the original Guns line-up, I had low expectations based on the new Guns line-up, which, over the years, has had a roster that changed more than the old-school original L.A.Guns. When I first heard Shackler's Revenge earlier on, I was disappointed. It didn't sound even remotely Guns-like - it was way too NIN for me. I love NIN, and I know that Axl's time with Robin Finck obviously had influence, but there was too much of NIN's sound. I also was disappointed with 'Better', mainly because of the eerie falsetto voice Axl uses in the intro. I'm honestly disappointed. It sounds like a bunch of different bands mashed into one less-than-satisfying CD. Axl is just trying far too hard to compete with the old Guns, and isn't succeeding with Chinese Democracy. It took too many years to complete - and it shows.

W-T-F !! I waited 16 years for this ?!?!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Except for Axl's voice which is the same as it used to sound, this album does not sound like G'N'R at all. The songs sounded over-produced and over-edited. The way the songs were sequenced on the album gave it a really disjointed and abstract feel. It may need to grow on me over time...
