Incredible game. Amazing turn based combat, story, and soundtrack. Games like this come don't come around often. If Expedition 33 doesn't win multiple game of the year awards, I'll be truly schocked. Don't pass on this game.

I am a die hard JPRG, turn based gamer type of guy. I have my go toes, the FF, DQ, Skies of Arcadia, etc.. You dont see a lot of new IP's coming out. There are so many remakes, and remasters, nothing is original. This has everything, gameplay, story, music, and of course graphics. i have been eyeing this game since for over a year, part of me was thinking this was not going to live up to the hype, ( few do ). I'm glad this one did. im about 12 hours into it. i hope devs look at this and finally go back to taking chances in their games.

This was hard to find in stock but I'm glad I found it here at Best Buy! It totally deserves GOTY award! I haven't finished it but the music, art/environment, characters, relationship building, fighting style, and the storyline have all been fantastic. I love this game and can't believe that it was created by such a small studio. The quality is as good as it gets. One of my favorite games of all time. It is turned based combat when fighting but I've found that to be fun.

Nearly perfect, visuals to animation to music to gameplay. So well refined with a genuinely emotional story that keeps you engaged from start to finish. The casting was great, all the actors put a lot of time and effort to give a good performance, the game felt well balanced. Top contender for game of the year.

Went into it after hearing nothing but good things from friends and family as well as all the YT coverage. I wasn't ever a fan of JRPGs in the past, wanted to get into this one. Glad I made the purchase. The prologue is over an hour to complete which is awesome as I don't want this game to end. It is fun, looks great, and the narrative is interesting. This has opened my eyes to other JRPGs that I now want to try. Game of the Year winner for a reason.

Expedition 33 is one of the best and most impactful games of the year. It honors JRPGs of the past and picks up the torch from others that have experimented to bring real time action elements into the turn based combat and parry systems. The gameplay is uniquely rewarding, the narrative is engrossing, the art is supremely detailed, the music is god tier, and the whole package of this game is something that shouldn’t be missed by anyone - fans of turn based JRPGs or not. Play this game. Support indies. Support game design that takes risks. Support new teams making sustainable projects. And reward yourself with one of the most highly rated gaming experiences of this - or any - year. The *only* critique I have is a lack of accessibility options - the game may not be accessible to blind/low vision players or those with motor disabilities.

Surprisingly a great game. After the first 2 hours, it kinda died down a bit for me. Then bam! Full throttle!!! Such an amazing fights and stories!

Don’t think about it, just buy it. It’s awesome! I thought it was just on other final fantasy copy but no it’s something different and extremely better than that. The game play is exciting for a turn based game and the story is excellently written. If you don’t buy the game at least listen to the soundtrack, the composer did an amazing job.

As stated by many others, many times, this game is an absolute Masterpiece. I first heard about the game last year and after seeing the trailer it was an automatic pre order after. I never watched any more videos of it as to not be spoiled on anything. Everything about the game is incredible. The story, graphics, and gameplay are nearly perfect. And the soundtrack......wow look it up on Spotify. Crazy almost all the team behind this game was found on Reddit forums. The combat is turn based but with input events like Legend of Dragoon, super Mario RPG, and paper Mario. RPGs are my favorite types of video games and this system just makes it even better. If you're on the fence about this game don't be just get it. It's my personal GOTY so far and I don't see anything beating it out.

There have been some impressive games this past year. DS2 was wonderful but this is on another level in every way. So many AAA titles feel the same these days. Fortunately, CO is unique with gorgeous graphics, fun gameplay, and a compelling story! I hope it wins GOTY! There haven’t been bugs or crashes for my playthrough. Runs great on my Pro!

I have played many games in my lifetime. From Legend of Dragoon, to Dark Souls, from Ghost of Yōtei to Mass Effect. Truthfully, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 ranks among the best of them. The score is riveting, the story has emotional weight and depth, the combat gives you a challenge but is approachable and the world building is immaculate. There hasn't been a realization of a world this riveting since Dragon Age Origins, Final Fantasy 10, and the Persona series. The game also has a fantastic balance. It knows when it needs to have comic relief because this game is heavy. If you have ever enjoyed good stories, good scores, good combat, and just genuine fun games, I think you should definitely give this one some of your time.

Fantastic turn-based RPG. The combat is fun, the story is engaging, the world building is done very well, and the music goes hard.

This game is alternately dark and hunorous, with excellent show-don't-tell storytelling and a slow burning plot that will keep you guessing and wanting for more. The active time element spices up the turn-based combat, which has different mechanics for each of the playable characters without getting too deep in the weeds with submenus. Truly breathtaking environments and a banging soundtrack round out this delightful new variation on a classic style of RPG.

Truly my game of the year, and top 5 games of all time, the game is beautiful, mechanics and combat, characters and voice acting, everything about this game is stunning. The music is top tier, really brings out the emotion the game intended. Would recommend to anyone, Ik turn based is looked down on but it’s truly a master piece

One of the best games I have played. Unique art style, great music, creative gameplay and a very deep story. Only complaint is certain odd attack patterns from bosses.

This game is just cinema. The characters are so complex and fleshed out. The story instantly hooks you but also continues to throw twists and turns. The combat is fun, interactive and has variety to it. The music ties it all together to really immerse you. GOTY for me.

Second best game I've played this year but the best game released this year. I beat Metaphor Re:Fantazio in January but the game was released in 2024. Anways, I think that game was better but Expedition 33 is pretty up there, too. Fun, compelling story telling, great characters, and great visuals. I suggest turning things like Motion Blur off and using the Performance mode.

That everyone else hasn't. I will add my name to the list of people who actively avoided turn based RPG's, but I had to try this one, because it just screamed originality, which has been exceedingly rare these days. This game is fantastic, battles are a ton of fun, and story is top tier. GOTY talk is not unwarranted, and for the reasonable price of 50 dollars? Yeah, this is where the industry should head. Kudos to thos dev team, they dropped a diamond and you can feel passion through and through. DO NOT miss this one.

Enough has been said about this game, but if you're into JRPGs (the style of RPGs at least) at all, this game is a must play. Heck, I argue you should buy the game alone for the soundtrack, but everything about the game comes together. The emotional story, the deep characters, and more mature dialogue than your typical anime JRPG. Add on to the fact that the graphics are impressive and the combat system is engaging and yeah, this a strong contender for Game of the Year in 2025. Even at the full MSRP price of $50 the game is worth it especially with its wealth of content (though I do think the side content could have been spread out more instead of overloading the player in the final act), but for any sale price it is simply a must.

Absolutely amazing game. Soundtrack, gameplay and story. It tics all the boxes for me, absolutely stellar. Do you love turn based games? This is a love letter to you. Do you find turn base boring? With the QTEs and being able to parry or dodge all enemies attacks, this game shakes up the formulae. Please give it a try.
