Got this as a replacement for Antec USB-Powered Notebook Cooler, which was not doing much cooling for my 17" notebook. It works great, very quiet, and looks great illuminated with blue LED. Like that the top is made of metal mesh, and the platform is slightly tilted.

Covers the Whole Laptop, but keeps slipping off

This is the pad to get. Get velcros for the laptop to prevent the computer from slipping off. Especially if its smaller than a 17".

The unit sits under a Dell 17". Purchased because on the Internet it had great reviews for being very if not one of the most quiet. It has a variable speed fan which at zero to half speed I would say it's too noisy. I returned the first one for that reason, it sounded like the blade was hitting something. At full speed you still hear the fan but not having had any other brand I cannot say it the best or the worst. Cooler Master sells many types of fans so one would think by now they would use a fan who's technology "run's a quiet as a mouse, low or high speed". It comes with two USB ports on the back. I still do not know if the spare one can be used for other than powering the unit. The Owners Manual leaves a lot to be desired.

I am so happy I bought this. I have a huge, bulky 17.5" laptop, and it fits just perfectly. I play a lot of video games on this computer, on pretty high graphics settings, and fellow gamers will know that can make a computer get pretty warm! Before I got this cooling pad, everything was running slower than usual due to the high temperatures. I couldn't even put it on my lap because it would burn my legs so badly. That's not a problem at all anymore, the laptop stays nice and cool and runs perfectly. Extremely easy to set up (plugs right into the USB port on the laptop), and even has a little wheel that controls the speed of the fan. Highly recommend this product! Definitely a win!

I use my laptop hours at a time editing photos and it kept shutting off (a very bad thing if you haven't backed up your work!) and I needed an inexpensive fix and this gem has done a great job at cooling quickly and efficiently! The blue glow is a nice feature too and the grippers are a nice thing to have when I am working in public it doesn't slide all over the place.

This product works very well. My laptop kept overheating and crashing on me everytime I was playing a game or watching a movie, but that has not happened once since I got this cooling pad. Also it isn't noisey at all (which is what I was worried about). Great price too!

The description says that it is for up to 17" laptops but the actual pad is on big enough for a 15" laptop. My 17 inch had1" on each side extending beyond the pad. It works wonderfully for my 15 inch though.

Quiet and keeps my laptop cooler

We have a Dell Studio 1747 17" laptop which is primarily used as a desktop machine, meaning it sits on the shelf plugged in all the time and drives an external monitor, keyboard, and mouse. It would occasionally overheat, so I decided to buy a laptop cooler. After reading many reviews, I decided on this one due to the quietness, adjustable fan speed, extra USB port, and overall reviews. My results: ___________________IDLE____Stress _________________CPU GPU CPU GPU (degrees C) Normal Laptop______71__58__100*_75 Upside Down_______70__54___96__73 Cooler Off__________75__53__100*_76 Cooler On Max Fan___75__56___96__73 (not flush) Cooler On Max Fan___65__52___96__71 (flush with surface) Diablo3_____________________89__98 * = Laptop shuts down when CPU temp gets to 100C Flush/Not Flush = laptop has an extended battery which props it off the surface. Upside down was just flipping it over so the heat easy rose from the bottom of the laptop. Overall, keeps it cool enough so that it doesn't overheat and shut down, which is why I bought it. I could've gone for one that pushed more air, but didn't want the extra noise. You can't even hear the fan over the other noise in the room.

This product was worth the 40 bucks it cost, i ordered it 2 months ago and it is simply amazing, i still haven't had any problems with it, the cool metal plate helps a lot, if it was plastic i'd think it would over heat. It also looks nice because of the blue led lights beaming at the fan

    Mine broke after 6 months

I had the Notepal X2 and currently own the Notepal X3. The Notepal X3 is noticeably more sturdy and has a bigger fan. In terms of lightness, I would take the Notepal X2. However, the tradeoffs are that it is somewhat more flimsy. Mine broke after 6 months and RMA is pretty much not worth it because Coolermaster puts return shipping on your bill. For the price, it is a good buy. It keeps the notebook cool and is easy to use on your lap.

    Nice, but underpowered

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Looks very nice, particularly when running. I find the speed dial and power button a nice feature. Also has an extra USB port, so you can plug in another device, without sacrificing one to run the pad. Case is solid, feels indestructible. Metal mesh on the front is a good feature, as it seems to conduct heat away from your laptop's vent, to the rest of the pad. Incredibly quiet. Fan is ridiculously underpowered. When on at full speed, it can barely even be felt. I took the pad apart to see if it would be more apparent, but no. As someone who does research in computational fluid dynamics, I am still somewhat baffled how a fan of that size and speed seems so ineffective. Because of the design of the blades, much of the air is pushed to the side, but still. Fan performance is improved if the area *under* the pad is clear (so air can "get in", if you will).

I've had my laptop for nearly 7 years and am preparing to update in the next few months. I decided to buy some of the accessories while I research for the best hardcore Laptop for my needs. This was one of my preemptive purchases and I love it. My current laptop has gotten so hot at times that I can't keep it on my lap without my legs turning red. I'm using the unit now, and the keyboard feels cool, and all the heat that is produced is effectively dispersed. The reason why I am not giving it 5 stars is because there is no ledge to prevent my laptop from sliding forward. I placed two small black furniture sliders on the front and this solved the problem.

    A Decent Cooler...

This is a pretty decent laptop cooler. This is my first one I've owned, so my expectations weren't too high. I was able to save a few bucks price matching at the store (I purchased it at a store, but they had to order one for me because they didn't carry this product in-store). I received my cooler within 2 days of purchase, which is a lot better than the original 5-6 days they were anticipating. However, just today (after a week of owning) one of the rubber feet on the bottom of the cooler came off. Not too big of an issue; I was able to find it, and plan on gluing it back into place. Overall, this is a fairly decent cooler! P.S. The blue LED is pretty cool looking, too. :)

Have had this for a few weeks now and it's been working great. I like the steel mesh that doesn't get crushed when pressure is applied. Some other stands have cheap plastic fan covers, this one is sturdy. Has been keeping everything cool, and I have my very powerful 17" Alienware game laptop on it.
