This Coravin Wine System is an amazing piece of equipment and a great tool for your bar. No more removing corks, no more trying to reseal wine, just stab and pour. Everything should be this simple! With the kit you get the dispenser itself, a few cans of argon, two synthetic corks to assist with those odd ball wine bottles, and a nifty pouch to carry everything in. There is also a user manual that will walk you through proper use of the kit, which is always a good idea to read. However, I am certain that you will not need to read these directions because the kit is that simple. The argon simply sets inside the handle, There are two buttons on the entire system. the first allows you to raise and lower the needle so you can take the system on and off your wine bottle. The second releases the argon gas. Stab the needle into the cork, lower the system down over the bottle, press the gas release, tip the bottle to pour, press the gas release again, and watch the wine flow. VERY VERY SIMPLE. Removing the system is incredibly simple as well, as all you have to do is press the release and lift the system out of the bottle. The only complaint that I have about the Coravin Wine System is that the pours are a little stingy and slow. The system works as designed, but I believe it is limited by the size of the needle used to penetrate the bottle. But its not a huge issue. It may take 60 seconds to pour a full glass of wine, I would just prefer to have it flow a little quicker. Ultimately, if you have a bar at home and you or your guests like to drink wine, this is a great tool to keep behind the bar. It simplifies pouring, it simplifies storage...it just makes everything so SIMPLE!

No More Wine Before Its Time

The Coravin wine preserver is not cheap. But it’s a good investment if you drink quality wine without finishing the bottle quickly. On the other hand, if “two buck Chuck” is more your style, this is not for you. One interesting use case I found for Coravin is it’s a great way to taste bottles. If I think a bottle has potential but needs to age, Coravin preserves it as if it was never opened. Before Coravin, the opened bottle would need to be finished without aging – a waste of money. This is especially useful at Costco where selections rotate quickly, and good deals sell out fast. The best instructions of how to use the system are on the company’s YouTube channel. It’s very easy to use. I had no trouble pushing the needle into the cork, pouring the wine, and pulling the needle back out. The kit also comes with screw caps, if that’s how your bottle is sealed. One caveat, the preserver does not work with synthetic corks because they don’t self-seal like natural cork.

    Must Have for Wine Drinkers

I had the Coravin Model One, and used it all the time. The basic operation of the Model Six is basically the same, except you slide the bottle holder over the bottle rather than clamp it on. It makes it a little smoother, but not groundbreaking. But if it ain't broke, don't fix it, right? The materials of the model six are a little more high end. I have the red version and it looks pretty sleek, and the textured rubber grip on top is a nice touch. But what I was blown away by with this model is the new top that you can use with screw top bottles! One of my favorite wineries uses a screwtop, and it drove me crazy because I had to drink the whole bottle within a couple days. The Model Six came with a couple of tops that have a wax like center that you screw on immediately after opening, and puncture with the needle just as any other bottle. I was skeptical at first because you actually have to open the bottle, but it works! I left a bottle for a little over a week, and it tasted just as great! Problem solved.

I took my time Before writing this review. 1. This is meant for small to medium-sized cork bottles. 2. Suboptimal views on larger bottles due to air volume. 3. Can pour a steady good stream and kept wine fresh. 3. Be careful with the needle that ia used for the cork. It is very sharp. 4. Adds the inert gas to bottle to avoid ant o2 from entering. Comes with 3 cartridges. 5. Last for a while. D9nt know about long term storage in the same bottlw since the bottles basically were finished. Used one cartridge for 4 bottles. Once we got the hang of how to pour. Still working well. 6. Does take a bit of getting used in knowing how long to hokd the trigger. Once you have that down. Its a breeze.

Future of wine drinking - awesome device

This device may be pricey, however I predict it will be the future of wine drinking everywhere. It is not only easy to use, it allows you to uncork a bottle of your favorite wine without popping the cork. This kit includes 2 gas containers that easily fit inside the device, plus two twisty tops for screw cap wine bottles. With one quick swift motion, the needle pierces the cork and allows the gas to extract wine from the bottle into your glass and then you pull out the device/needle and put the bottle back on the shelf for future use. It does not disturb the taste of the wine and I even added the aerator device to it so it will allow the wine to breathe. This is an ingenious device and one I will use over and over again.

The CORAVIN Model Six has already helped me save quite a bit of wine. I normally end up rushing to finish an entire bottle, but now I can just drink a glass or two without opening up the entire bottle. It is very simple to use. Just pop in the included CO2 tank into the Model Six, grab your bottle, snap in into the top portion, and push down until the metal piece punctures the corck. After that you turn over, and press the button. It releases pressure into the bottle, which in turn pushes out the wine. Pretty neat. I don't think it will work with Champagne or sparkling wines, but on everything else it is great. I would definitely buy another one just so I could have a red one!

Nothing to Wine about, its Fantanstic!

If your favorite wine uses a natural cork and you want to enjoy a nice glass of wine without having to worry about opening the entire bottle this is what you need. During the week I often like to have a glass of wine with my dinner but due to schedules and timing its not a consistent occurrence. Using the Coravin I no longer have to worry about opening a bottle or having wine spoil because I didn’t get to finish the bottle in time. The Coravin wine preservation system lets you easily extract wine from the bottle without having to remove the cork. The system uses a small needle to puncture the cork and an Argon gas cartridge helps force the wine through the needle. To pour a glass of wine you slide the assembly over the top of the bottle, press down which drives the needle through the cork, tilt the bottle holding both the bottle and the assembly and then push the Argon gas lever to start your pour. Because the needle is small it does take a little extra time but its not a show stopper. When your pour is complete you pull the assembly upward and it comes out cleanly while the cork reseals itself. The system is well made and solid however due to the way you need to hold the wine bottle and assembly when pouring a glass it can be a little cumbersome until you get used to it. Overall I am very please with the system, its easy to use and performs perfectly every time. The Model 6 comes with three argon cartridges, a really nice storage case to hold the Coravin, and two screw on caps. Things to consider. Since only natural cork will reseal I recommend cutting the foil to verify the cork prior to using the system. The needle will puncture a synthetic cork and everything will work normally however the synthetic cork will not reseal when the Coravin is removed thus the wine will leak. The Argon cartridges are not cheap. I average about 15 glasses or about 3 bottles worth of pours per cartridge so it does increase your overall wine cost. Lastly, because the needle does puncture the cork there is a risk of knocking some cork into the wine. This is not an issue if you use the Coravin until the bottle is empty because the needle is so thin. However if you decide to uncork a bottle that had been previously punctured by the Coravin you may find small pieces of cork in the wine. I don’t see this often because it also depends on the age and quality of the cork but can be a slight nuisance.

The coravin wine system is very easy to use. I have tried it with all types of wine and it pretty much keeps fresh as if sealed. I thought it wouldn't work on wine bottles that are not corked but it comes with screw on bottle tops for ease. The argon capsules that come with it go fairly quickly for avid wine drinkers but they are inexpensive to replace. Overall a great little tool for the person that wants to taste different wines without having to finish each bottle.

Don’t toss the corkscrew or wine stoppers just yet

I’ve always used either a standard corkscrew or a battery operated one. I don’t drink wine that often so I thought the Coravin Wine Preservation system would be a great idea. The main feature I did like was the fact that you never have to remove the cork from the wine bottle (doesn’t apply to screw tops). You can also pour the wine without removing the cork through the Coravin system itself. For me, that’s where the convenience stops. The Coravin Model Six Wine Preservation system comes with the system itself, 3 Coravin Pure Capsules (compressed Argon gas), carry case and 2 Coravin Screw Caps. The Screw caps are, OK, but not really necessary as the screw tops on the bottles are tight enough. Now for the capsules. They’re similar to the compressed air cork screws but use 99.9% Argon Gas which ensures the preservation the wine. These can only be purchased on the Coravin website as they are made specifically for the Coravin Wine Preservation Systems. Each capsule should be able to open approximately 15 5oz glasses of wine before having to be replaced. The Coravin Wine Preservations system uses a thin needle that is pushed through the wine cork. First thing you have to do is insert the cartridge, then placing/pushing the System’s SmartClamps over the bottle and firmly on the cork, holding the bottle as about a 45-degree angle using the handle, pour the wine into the glass. After pouring, keeping the Coravin System still attached the bottle, stand the bottle upright and pull the system up and off in one motion. Sounds easy, but it does take a little tugging. Every time you use the Coravin Model Six Wine Preservation system, all parts have to be rinsed, air dried and stored in the pouch. For a sometimes wine drinker, like me, I don’t feel it’s any more of an advantage then using a standard corkscrew and a tight-fitting cap. I don’t know how long the cartridge lasts sitting in the System, but so far, it’s been in mine for about 3 weeks. I’ve only used it on one bottle of wine. One more thing, plastic corks are a little tougher to get through so it the Coravin System a little more time. Standard corks take no time at all. Plastic corks can still leak after using the system as, they don’t re-seal themselves like real corks do. Would I recommend it? That all depends upon how often you intend on using it. For someone who entertains often, it would definitely come in handy since you don’t have to remove the cork and can use it several times on the same bottle. For someone that only has a glass of wine occasionally, maybe. It all depends upon your personal preference. I doubt that I’d be using too often as it doesn’t seem feasible for and occasional glass of wine. I gave 3 stars because it’s not that simple to use and care for. And only special cartridges can be used.

Right off the bat, I have to say that this is a premium product and it's not cheap so you'll need to take that into account when deciding if the functionality is worth it to you. That said, I thought the whole thing was pretty neat and very well executed. I'm not the biggest wine drinker in the world so the ability to have a glass and save the rest of the bottle for later definitely appeals to me. I tested it out with a glass from a fresh bottle and then saved that bottle for 2 weeks before opening it up to finish it. The bottle still tasted great and I didn't notice any discernible quality loss. Setup is a little overwhelming when you look at it the instructions and aren't sure what you're doing. I felt a little overwhelmed by it all but after watching the short video they recommend and then just deciding to give it a shot, it turns out to be really easy and not nearly as clunky as I thought it would be. It's a very smooth process to "tap" the bottle and pour a cup and then "untap" it for later. Obviously, when the extra prep and cleaning time, it takes a little longer than just popping the cork on a bottle but it really wasn't that bad to me. Pouring isn't very quick. It's not a deal breaker but expect it to take an extra minute to pour a glass because you're essentially pouring out of a very thin needle. When you're done, you just untap the bottle by following the instructions and the cork just seals itself back up naturally. It was pretty simple and clever to me. The instructions are pretty thorough and do a good job of telling you what to do and how to clean everything. Cleanup is pretty simple and t he instructions tells you what you need to do to clean it properly. Taste was as expected. The fresh bottle I poured from tasted great and the same bottle still tasted great a couple weeks later. I was impressed. I'm not sure what else to say about this. Overall, it's a good product. It's well built and does the job it advertises. If you're the kind of person that just wants a single glass of wine every so often, this could be a very good product for you. I don't know if I'm sold on the price tag, personally, but if it's in your budget, I'd recommend it. If you're the kind of person that shares a bottle or finishes one in a night, this is probably not worth it to you at all.

I must say the CORAVIN Model Six is a neat gadget. You can actually drink the finest wines from the cellar and actually maintain the integrity of the rest of the bottle. The needle system and CO2 cartridge let you get the desired amount and keep bottle sealed. Maintaining the taste and freshness of the bottle. If you are a wine connoisseur are just a weekend sipper this a great gadget to have.

So… I’ve tried this “system”. It is easy to use. If you’re looking for a way to try expensive bottles of wine without uncorking, this may be an option. It works well, but that’s where the good points end. That being said, they’re asking $400… If you’re buying really expensive wines, and not drinking much of any given one at a time, maybe this is worth that much to you. You could also drink half of a $20 bottle and just pour out the rest every day for more than a month, and still be ahead not buying this system. If you do that once per week, it will take you close to a year before you break even. The construction is all mid-grade plastic. There is absolutely nothing about this product that makes you think, “wow, this must be expensive”. I wouldn’t be surprised to see similar knock-off systems available in a discount store for $50. I can only imagine that this product exists because the market is too small to make it worth anyone’s time to compete.

We had our coravin for about 2 years. We use it a couple times a month so it’s not like it’s overly used. We maintain it as directed and change the needles when needed. All of a sudden it drains the whole capsule of argon when you put a new one in. These capsules are not cheap. I’ve spent at least $50 in capsules trying to troubleshoot this. Contacted customer service a couple weeks ago and got no reply. We won't be replacing it and we won't recommend to.anyone.
