Headphones breaking

headphone are good and my son likes them a lot but the section where the plastic part connects to the ear section did break. It's usually where the hands separate the headphone apart to fit onto the persons head. It should be a stronger plastic piece ( Material) and would avoid more of this type of issue with other purchases

Works fine for the money. Sound is nice and clear. Mic was a huge upgrade over my old earbuds. Ear cups are too big, but it at least eases some of the pressure over my glasses. They get the job done.

Full immersive sound gaming with comfort

I have finally found a pair of headphones that i can enjoy for hours with totally immersive sound that puts me right into the game!!!
Straight out of the box I was impressed with the light weight of the headphones and overall build quality. They have a good size headband with a very thick leatherette cushion for comfort. The band does flex slightly for maneuverability and has an adjustable slider. The ear cups are also very large with the same cushion leatherette feel and completely cover the ears. Both are very comfortable and I am able to wear these headphones no problem with wearing glasses. The weight is hardly noticeable which makes for extra comfort for long gaming and I can play for hours without getting very warm compared to other headphones that I have used. The ear cups do provide a sense of noise cancellation without being noise cancelling.
Now the sound produced is where it steps it up a notch. Using the 3.5mm head jack you are going to get the standard sound expected, but that is not why I got these, I wanted the surround sound. I didn't believe there would be a huge difference when plugging in the usb adapter, but wow, it fully immerses you into the game!
I am able to hear speech from game characters as if if I am in the same room with them. As I move around the game, the sound and speech moves smoothly from different directions based on my actions. It gives me a heads up on where things are coming from and what to expect when engaged in certain games. The boom mic is a plus with the swing up to mute. The mic sits in the perfect position for me and catches my voice very clearly. My friends are able to hear every word I say without delay. These headphones also work extremely well with discord as I have had issues with other headphones working properly with that platform.
I am extremely satisfied with these headphones and look forward to many hours played using them.

I would give it a five star, but the the headband has a lot of pressure and give me a headache. Better for a child size head not adult with average heads. If you are even a larger person I wouldn't recommend this.

CORSAIR HS55 surroud wired Gaming Headset with Dobly Audio 7.1 has great sound both in gaming and other media. It is a good budget headset and is light and comfortable for long sessions. It is easy to set up for both PC and console hookup. I did mine on both my gamer PC and on my PS5. On the PC the Dolby Audio 7.1 is a very nice addition with great sound. In order to use the Dolby Audio which is only available on the PC with a USB A plug in and Corsairs iCUE software. The omnidirectional Microphone is very clear with good noise canceling, with a flip to mute function and it is Discord Certified. There are no batteries required so this helps to make the unit very light at just over half a pound and the headband and ear cups are adjustable. The unit can be used as a stereo headset with just the 3.5mm audio connector. On the PS5 it is just a stereo headset but it is quite clear when used plugged into the hand controller.
There was no provision for people that wear glasses as some headphones have but the ear cups are soft enough this didn’t seem to be a problem for me. I did find that the leatherette material of the ear cups got to be quite warm so this affected my comfort level. I wish they would have used a breathable material instead over the comfy memory foam.
The quality of the build is excellent.

Just got the Corsair HS55 7.1 surround sound gaming headset and like my other Corsair products, it’s great. I opened the box, and it comes with the headset and a 3.5mm plug attached to the wired end. Corsair includes an adapter for the 7.1 surround sound that connects to a USB/A port.
I plugged in the USB adapter and the headset into it, then loaded Forza 7. Wow, the game sounded great! I usually play it with the built-in HP speakers and what a difference. I got sounds from all directions. I didn’t have to change the audio settings in Windows 11 Home either. I looked and it only showed left and right channels, but when I hit the test button, it did the 7.1 test with front, rear, side, and sub speakers. I played the game via the Xbox app on Windows, just FYI.
Next, I changed desktops from the gaming rig and tried the headset on my daily tower. I have an older Ryzen 7 that I keep my music on. So, I open iTunes (yeah, I know) and play several songs from The Eagles Live. Don, Glen, now Joe sounds wonderful. Maybe I’ll keep listening and get to Timothy. Not sure if Don Felder sings on this album, but I’m sure enjoying his guitar.
Switched over to FB and watched the latest Tucker Budzyn video. The audio sounds clear and I can hear ‘Linda’ laughing at Tucker while he rolls around on the pool cover. Played a quick couple of rounds on Candy Crush Saga and had to find the volume dial. It was a bit too loud for me compared to iTunes and the video.
So, what else can I try on Windows? How about a few FLAC files on Foobar2000? First, is Nasty by Janet. Sound great. Her vocals come straight out of the speakers, the side and rear channels along with the backup singers. Might as well as listen to What have you done for me lately. Last one, Highway Song by Greta Van Fleet. Wow sounds awesome!
Lastly, I really like the Corsair headsets that I own. I have a big cranium and usually have to get the largest helmet, hat, or headset I can find. Not with Corsair, I can open them up all the way and need to back off a couple of clicks…nice. The headset isn’t too heavy and it’s rather comfortable on my head. I raced about 5 heats on Forza and then the rest, so say an hour or so. I forgot they were on as I focused on the game, video, or music. That doesn’t always happen with earbuds and headsets, at least not for me. If you’re looking for a wired gaming headset that won’t break the bank, I’d have no problem recommending these HS55’s.

A Great Headset

The Corsair HS55 is a great choice when looking for a premium quality sounding headset that looks good and doesn't break the bank. The sound quality is awesome, whether its the voice chat of your squad mates or the music from you favorite games or just the footsteps of the enemy in your match it all sounds great on this headset. The headset is light and the soft padding is comfortable, so no worries about feeling like your head is getting squeezed by a tight fit or feeling irritated after a few hours of wearing them. I'm a huge fan of the aesthetics of this headset, the Carbon (black) color and minimalist/sleek design make it a very good looking headset. The compatibility of the headset makes it easy to use on whatever device your using, I tested the headset on my Alienware M15 and PS5, and had no issue with audio or connectivity on either device. It is a wired headset so if for some reason you don't have a 3.5mm audio port on your device, the headset also comes with a USB to 3.5mm adapter so that you can connect it. Overall, I highly recommended the Corsair HS55 and its my main set for my gaming on my PC.

The Corsair HS55 Surround wired headphones offer incredible sound. The 50mm drivers provide plenty of bass, yet weigh only a little more than half a pound.
The memory foam ear cups are comfortable and because they're so lightweight you could literally wear them for a full day of gaming. The adjustable headband fits comfortably as well!
The headset is standard with the 3.5 mm aux plug for use with just about any device, and at nearly 6 foot long there's plenty of room to move around. The roller switch on the headset makes it easy to adjust the volume and the microphone flips out of the way when not in use. Sound with the microphone is crisp, clear and your voice is easily understood on the other end.
Using the optional USB adapter allows you to experience Dolby Audio 7.1 Surround sound with a PC. It sounds great with any music but to truly enjoy it, try it with a 7.1 surround sound test clip!
The Corsair HS55 Surround are compatible with MAC, PC, PS4/PS5, X-Box S/X, and Nintendo Switch.
At less than $100 these are great for a day of gaming, phone calls, or just enjoying music without disturbing others.

Let me begin by saying I'm writing this review as a big-headed person who wears glasses (baseball cap size 7 5/8). I have enjoyed using the Corsair HS55, but have experienced a couple issues, too. Let's jump right in.
~~The good stuff~~
Let me start off by saying I'm impressed by the sound quality of these headphones, even for just music. They sound very good, and you can fine-tune the sound in Corsair's iCue software. The DAC in the USB module is at least as good as the one on my top-flight ASUS Q538EI laptop. I also like the volume control on the left ear cup, which lets you fine tune volume without using the keyboard or mouse.
The microphone is also quite good, although I would have preferred it on the right side. It is bendable so you can get it in exactly the right position for your mouth, and flips up when you don't need it.
The 7.1 is actually pretty incredible, and I had fun playing through demos and watching videos with 7.1 sound. It is super cool to hear things spatially around you in games, albeit without head-tracking like a VR headset has.
Finally, I like the look of this headset. Its ear cups have a shimmery dark grey pattern on the outside with the Corsair logo in the middle, and the rest of them is done in a nice, understated black plastic.
~~The not-so good stuff~~
Here's where the size of my head does me in. The HS55 are quite tight on my skull, and they press my glasses into my head a bit. I can relieve some of that tension by extending the band a bit, but it never goes completely away, and the pivots above the cups don't rotate in exactly the right way to get rid of it.
Speaking of never going completely away, when the microphone is folded up away from your mouth, it doesn't go completely out of view. Instead, it sits kind of right in your peripheral vision. This isn't necessarily a big for me, as I'll wear these when I need to have the mic, but be aware.
The next thing that irked me a bit is the material on the ear cup pads. It's pretty soft, but dense pleather material, and it left me feeling a little sweaty after a longer gaming session. Comfortable enough in a cool room, certainly not super-premium breathable material.
~~The bottom line~~
I think this headset will likely go to my kid, who plays online with friends and is just getting into making YouTube videos. It'll go well with the Corsair gaming mouse they're using now! If you have a small to medium sized head and you want a good gaming headset that won't break the bank, go for this one!

Nice wired headset

The Corsair HS55 Surround headset is a nice, straight-forward wired headset for multiple platforms that has the added bonus of 7.1 surround capability on PC. The unit is matte black except for the outside of the ear cups which have a Corsair stylized silver pattern. No RGB with this headset. The ear cups are made of memory foam covered with synthetic leatherette, and sport 50mm neodymium drivers. The shape of the inside of the cup is more of a vertical oval than round. The headband has suitable cushioning on the bottom side of the band, and can be adjusted via the sliding metal band that is encased by heavy duty plastic over the top of the head. The microphone is flip-to-mute and is bendable so that the you can find the best angle for your face. In standard format, it has a 3.5mm jack that will allow it to plug into mobile devices and provide stereo sound. But the headset includes a Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound USB adapter that can be used with PC via a USB port that is 2.0 or newer. When using this mode, you will need to download the Corsair ICUE app and have it recognize the headset to get the 7.1 feature. The ICUE app will also let you adjust the equalizer among several preset options or let you find your own perfect setting. ICUE also includes some microphone adjustment features, such as muting background noise. I played some games and listened to music with the Corsair headset, and I felt they performed pretty well. Like many headsets, the bass could be a little more vibrant, but the midrange and treble were good. Voice chat in games worked well, and squadmates said by voice was clear. I wear glasses and did note a little more pressure on the side than what I am used to from my current headset. But that could also be an advantage for someone who is walking or moving their head alot as these aren't likely to fall off. To me, this is a solid headset that can work on many platforms. The 7.1 surround worked in games and is a nice bonus at this level of headset. It sounded good during games and listening to music, and could function as a work headset because of the matte black aesthetic. I would reccommend this Corsair HS55 headset for anyone looking for a nice wired headset.

Budget Gamer - Standard Issue Headset

The Corsair HS55 Surround is an excellent choice for all gamers in the sub $70 headset range. Play on PC, Mac, PS5/PS4, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices with a 3.5mm headphone jack but to unlock all features - use the dongle on a PC. The headphones themselves look really nice and the styling fits any gamer setup. This all-plastic build is good for keeping costs down but it definitely is noticed in the weight and feel. Speakers sound great and work well reproducing lows and highs. The Corsair branding is prominent on the ear cups but overall very subtle. This is for budget gaming systems or beginner streamers who want a good mic and sound. They are lightweight coming in at just over .5 pounds so you can definitely hang for long sessions. In short, if there is a headphone jack on your gaming device, you can use these to get good audio with sweet mic quality! There is no mute button or in-line control so with the flip of the mic you mute it.
The iCue software is what unlocks the true potential of the HS55 Surround. All configurations happen within the iCue software. This is where you have access to changes in EQ and microphone level adjustment. Install the dongle to hear a difference and also get Windows Spatial Sound. The iCue controls are VERY basic and there is almost NO reason to use the software except to change the EQ. If you turn on Windows Spatial Audio you will lose EQ ability as Windows will control everything FYI! Below is a quick summary of these headphones.
HS55 Snapshot
+Excellent Sound
+Lightweight and good construction
+Great mic audio quality
+Easy to use and setup
+Ear cups fold flat to lay them down on your desk
-Ear cups make my ears hot but the foam is comfortable
VERDICT
These should be standard issue for anyone looking for gaming headphones on a budget. They are an all-around value package that is unmatched and what the heck, they are Discord-Certified too!

The Corsair HS55 gaming headset is a great headset in this price range. It is a wired headset for use with PC via USB, and PS5/4, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices via the 3.5mm headphone connector. You get 7.1 surround sound when using the USB connector on PC, and stereo sound on all other devices. When I first put these on, I instantly felt how comfortable they are. I have rather large ears, so it is hard for me to find over-ear headset which actually fit OVER my ears, lol. But these fit, and they are really comfortable, even for long periods of time. They even have a padded headband for added comfort. As for performance, I was quite impressed. These actually have quite a bit of punch. I tested with Doom Eternal on PC, and the music and sound were as intense as expected for that game. The surround performance could use some work. Things moving from left to right were done well enough, but I couldn't tell a huge difference with things above/below me. I just didn't get a full surround experience. But true surround is really difficult to get right, even in more expensive headphones. Overall, I was still very satisfied with the performance. The one thing I was a little disappointed with was build quality. As soon as you pick these up you can tell they just don't feel very durable. They are very light weight plastic, even on the headband. I am skeptical of their long term durability. But on the plus side, their low weight adds to their comfort level.
In conclusion, I was very impressed by the Corsair HS55 gaming headset. They have great performance and are extremely comfortable, even for someone with big ears like myself. The surround performance isn't the greatest, and they don't feel very durable. Overall they are a great option for a wired gaming headset in this price range.
